@@SoloTravelerOffTheBeatenPath mostar was already popular back in the 80s. Most people stay on the Croatian coast and do a day trip to Mostar. But there are other beautiful towns in Bosnia where nobody goes.
Flybosnia is owned by a Saudi group, and it's biggest market is transporting Middle Eastern tourists to Bosnia. As a Bosnian abroad, I really wish they flew to the rest of Europe, but their Middle Eastern market is more profitable.
Simon Taylor trust me there are plenty of UK Bosnians but most of us find it too depressing to go home or go to Croatia or Serbia during the summer or fly to Croatia then drive to Bosnia because it is cheaper and often much more convenient
Pungii LG because if you fly to Split or Dubrovnik from UK with Easyjet often are only 50 euros (often less during shoulder season) and bus from Split to Sarajevo would only cost less than 10 euros
I'm Bosnian and I'm just waiting till they open profitable flights. It is an airline with so much potential for the Bosnian tourism. I hope it gets better.
Yes, Sarajevo is one of the most beautiful and interesting cities I've visited in Europe -- anywhere in the world, really. And then, on top of that, there's the natural beauty of the country. I'd love for it to be easier to visit Bosnia.
Sarajevo is truly beautiful city with kind and down to earth people. I lived there many years and I must admit it has huge potential for growth. I love Bosnia and Bosnian people.
I flew in there as a Cargo airline pilot about 11 years ago. Interesting approach with high mountains around. I remember seeing bullet holes in the walls at the airport!
Yeah they keep holes as some sort of reminder, entire bosnia does that, I once saw a house where the shell went right through the wall, haven't exploded tho
Another great flight report. Visited Sarajevo couple of months ago. Wonderful city and one of the most beautiful country I have seen. Hopefully it will get more visitors in the coming days.

@MAGMK&W 20:114 Yes, Bosnian language had first dictionary in this area. But some try to say Bosnian language is false and their big "proof" is in communism era, they put language as serbocroatian, thankfuly we have passed that.
Let me explain one thing: Yes Bosnia didnt exist 27yrs ago, but that doesnt mean it gained its independence for the *first* time They lost their independence in 1463 when they are annexed by the Ottomans. They existed from 11th till 15th century and yet again from 1992- Bosnia actually has a rich and long history which isnt much known in the world today.
As a Bosnian who lives (and grew up) in London I can say there is definitely demand for this route but no one knows about it and it doesn’t help that it is so expensive, if Ryanair started flying to Sarajevo it would definitely be a sustainable route. Wizz air used to fly to Tuzla in Bosnia very cheaply but stopped last year.
s125ish if you are from the south of Bosnia it’s much easier to fly to split or Dubrovnik in Croatia and get a coach or drive because there are multiple direct flights a day for most of the year and if you are from the northern part it is easier to fly to Zagreb or Belgrade for the same reason.
Wizz Air used to fly from Luton to Tuzla in northern Bosnia & Herzegovina and fares were very cheap. I went on one of the last few flights to go a couple of years ago and it was very busy. Bosnia & Herzegovina has a sad past but is a fantastic country full of warm and welcoming people. Sarajevo is a brilliant city. Fingers crossed this route takes off as I would love to go back one day.
100% agree on every point. Bosnians are wonderful people, I didn’t meet one person who wasn’t incredibly warm and friendly, and happy to talk to this random English guy all about their experiences in the war and about Bosnia in general.
It has such a sad past and visiting Sarajevo you can see this all around with the graveyards of people killed in the conflict. But they have moved on and it’s great to see. It is also incredibly good value when you get there. Let’s hope this route gets going and improves. Your video may hopefully help this happen
What a unique experience (albeit the lack of service)! I had a very similar experience years ago - in terms of the number of passengers - on a Southwest flight from Baltimore to Milwaukee, but the crew were extremely friendly, and we all got extra snacks. Really love the mix of classes, airlines, modes of transport, and even snippets of your traveling destinations on your channel, Noel. Much appreciated, and thanks for sharing it with us!
Fantastic video Noel. Thank you for sharing your experience with FlyBosnia. Quite shocking that less than 20 people boarded that flight. But, when you mentioned the price it’s understandable. I really want to visit Sarajevo myself and experience what Bosnia & Herzegovina has to offer 🇧🇦 ❤️

@@erik_griswold well Tito was much for free thinking, he just wasn't for political BS as well as nationalist and facist, which today are running the show in the Balkans. Bosnia was first a kingdom from 1377 to 1463. Then the Turks conquered it, then came the Austro-hungarians, then you know the rest.
Another mad Bosnian because somebody from the world does not know about medieval Bosnian kingdom and Kulin Ban, as if we know everything about UK for instance.

@@unbelievable1560 yes first ruler or ban was ban Stjepan from 1084, but in 968 another unknown "bosnian ban" was mentioned. Bosnia is first mentioned in 10th century, it has a long history before the proclation of kingdom in 1377
Hi Noel, Yes, it's me again with another posting - I was posted at the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo from 2005-2007 and I must say, I loved it!!!! They have so many wonderful restaurants and lovely shopping. I was able to drive all over the Balkans from Sarajevo and I did. It was truly one of my favorites posts. This airline didn't exist back then but I flew around quite a lot.

Bosnia is a fantastic country with beautiful scenery and beautiful people. So much to see and Sarajevo is a great capital with plenty to do for a weekend. I had to fly via Dubrovnik when I last went which in some ways is better because you get to visit more of the country rather than flying straight in and straight out of the capital. Mostar and Banja Luka are also high up on the list of places to go and see and gives alternative pictures and perspectives of what we saw on the news here in the UK. Nice one for taking the chance and promoting a country that could do with more positive exposure.
High fares: few passengers. No profits. Low fares: many passengers reasonable profits. Provide snacks and drinks: full planes and full passengers. Just found your channel recently and subscribed. Good video Noel.

Great video. Looks like a beautiful place. I wanted to thank you because I suspect your videos cured me of my recently developed fear of flying. I loved flying like you for the first 40 years of my life or so but for the past few years, I have had this terrible anxiety about it. I still flew quite a bit but I did not look forward to it and when i was on the plane, I would be incredibly nervous about the movement of the plane. I have been watching your videos (along with other flight reviewers) for a few months and the last time couple of times I have flown it has been a joy again. I think it is seeing you and the others flying over and over without any safety incidents is soothing. I even had a great couple of flights on Spirit in the US lol.
Bosnia was a state in the former Yugoslavia until 1991. The Olympics were held there in 1984. The wars of the '90s were awful but as happens after a war, they have picked up and gotten on with life. I would live to visit there one day.
Bosnia actually dates back to the 7th Century. It gained its independence from Yugoslavia in the mid-90's after a truly horrible war. I have just returned from a family holiday to Croatia, Bosnia and Montenegro and found it a lovely, friendly region. We'll go back for sure.
Another really interesting flight and destination. Looks a really fascinating place to visit, felt a mix of east and west there. Very impressed with that lounge at Luton too. fun fact - Bosnia existed before 10th century, and in that time was firstly independent kingdom, and later part of different kingdoms, until gaining back it's independence in 1992 :)
Well if is 200 euros is little too much for you to pay from London to Sarajevo, how would you feel to pay $200 dollars for taxi from airport to the city of London.
That's crazy that you have the ability to print your boarding pass and fail to instruct you to check in at the desk upon airport arrival. The only difference is your using your own ink to print it and they just tick the box on screen that you're there. Weird, but glad they accommodated you.
I can't say I've ever seen a city that looks so.. cozy from above? Is that the word for it? The hills and the greenery and the little homes just look so comforting and relaxing. With all the travesties that have happened there it just seems like they deserve a nice cozy place to live
4 Years ago i had the same Experience with a nearly empty plane when i flew to turkey with SunExpress. Much people were afraid to fly to turkey because of terrorism, so we were only 8 people in the plane
Bosnia and Herzegovina is beautiful country. It has amazing food, great people and beautiful rivers such are Una and Neretva, I mean the nature in that country is just amazing❤!

Wow thank you for visiting Sarajevo ❤️ It really is a diamond in the rough. So many ruins but yet such a soul and beauty in all of its imperfections. Also for your info, Bosnia existed from 12th century. It was part of larger Yugoslavia and then became Bosnia again.
Sarajevo hosted the 1984 Winter Olympics and was an absolutely beautiful city but now a lot of the people who became stars as a result of Olympic success won't go back and just choose to remember the city as it was.
Lol on my flight from Sylt (Island in Germany) to Berlin on November 2nd with Easyjet, we were also only 16 People XD The boarding took 5 minutes, we started 20 minutes before sheduled and arrived in Berlin 45 minutes before sheduled 😂
I was on a flight out of Perpignan around 10 years ago. It was the first scheduled flight of the year with bmi baby that year. An extremely windy morning, locally named tramontane. only 6 seated up front and a further 6 at the back, including me and my partner. As the cabin crew were walking past up to the rear for take off one muttered, “Might need a sick bag for this one!”. I proceeded to soil my pants!!! Worst takeoff of my life 🤢
I suspect that the flight was empty because no one knows about it (or the airline). Was it that expensive?- I paid well over £200 to come back to London from Athens on easyJet in October 2019, although to be fair the flight out to Athens was only about £50- and yes I know Athens is quite a bit further than Sarajevo. I booked those flights about 10 days in advance. One other thing to note about Sarajevo is that the airport is prone to thick fog in the winter months resulting in flight delays- see the Foreign Office travel advice for Bosnia. Glad you went into the city and it looks very interesting. Great video and review.
I can imagine it getting foggy in winter given it’s geographical location in the valley. I really don’t get why they’re so expensive. They offer less service than low cost airlines for several times the price.
Honestly that ticket price is nothing compared to Canada in the winter time on domestic flights. Flights that are 3 hours long can sometimes cost up to $600 one way. But if you’re flying AC you still get IFE, Wifi, and the regular services. But $600 is still pretty steep
The name of the country is bosnia & HERZEGOWINA..nobody knows that the south part of this country maby 30% is Herzegowina I am actually from Hercegowina, so when somebody says to me that i'm bosnian i feel as a wrong person. I AM A HERCEGOVAC.
The one way that most folk would prefer not flying into Sarajevo is in a C-130, doing a "Sarajevo Approach". And please, do not ask for one from your pilot!
In Sarajevo now and it’s a truly a gem of a city and a stunning country. But a part of me wants this to be kept off the beaten track so that when I come back I can still see this without the crowds.
The bording pass issue is getting ridiculous. The past couple of times, I downloaded the electronic bording pass, but the insisted on giving me a paper one. How about saving the trees??? Last week, I had to print out a set in Berlin, but in Frankfurt they gave me two new ones. So in the end I had 2 electronic and 5 paper bording passes for three flights. Sheesh!
I wanted to go to Bosnia but every time, I find it cheaper to land at either Oslo first (then Norwegian Air) or Dubrovnik (EasyJet then bus). Expect Flybosnia to charge €99 max but it's too ridiculous.
My estranged older stepbrother Jeff joined the army in 1994 when he graduated high school he was stationed in Kosovo and Serbia. The effects of that war you described in all affected him he is retired in Eastern Washington State he fought on the front lines and was even a military officer in the infantry division
I'm 6'1 with long legs and like Noel i would find an A319 with such legroom to be very uncomfortable. i think this is a Gem of a city yet to be discovered by most travellers and i hope to be lucky enough to visit it one day. Bye for now
