someone called me out on discord for the error at the beginning lol I didn't wanna remake the title so I cut it from the last video and left a Frame of the old video lmao
Double meaning. “Stay with me, you don’t need to run, stay with me, my blood.” When he performs this in concert, he taps the inside of his forearm near his wrist as he says “my blood” while standing center stage, head up, looking straight out at the audience. Your blood doesn’t need to run. He’s seen cutting scars on his fans when at signings and M&Gs.
Cutting or self harming is a way to release all of the incredibly overwelming emotions that you are unable to regulate. Things are a little different in our brain, growing up with trauma or just being highly sensitive. As horrible as it sounds some doctors say it is incredible how we figured out a way to release the valve. It's so confusing and horrible at times. Literally feeling completely alone in the world and wondering if you have really lost your mind. Once they diagnose you feel like you finally got an answer to a question you have asked yourself your whole life. Trying to learn and live all over again is a very difficult thing to do. Especially since you spent years becoming who you Are personality wise.
I’d always thought in the “lion’s den” lyric that he was referring to the pin of a grenade. That he’s willing to go to war with that person. I never even considered the double meaning of him pulling his pen in a song-writing context. Good call brother, as per usual.
Taylor McKinley I actually thought he meant to make it sound ambiguous. “Pen” could also mean a farm pen aka “come into my farm”. My little guess, we’re all listening to this channel for that kinda kicks. Lol
I think the lions den is a call back to the lions reference in their song "Migraine". IMHO you are BY FAR the best at doing reactions to new music on RU-vid. I came for the TOP reviews, but have checked out some of your other videos because your breakdowns are very well thought out. Cheers to continued success!
I’ve watched the mv and that helped me to see it. All of us TØP crazies appreciate that you’re doing these. Hope your NF and hip hop subs don’t get too pissed at you. lol
The final “Stay with me, my blood” of the song I heard in his BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge and I was completely blown away. Its what made me realize how much I loved what he does.
When you decide to start with Trench storyline first react to Heavydirtysoul from Blurryface then to Jumpsuit, Nico And the Niners and Levitate, in that order. And after you bring up yours theories about it, we can give you a whole lote more of other theories to think about🙃 (btw thank you for reacting to this sessions, i haven't listened to them in a while so i'm basically crying on every high note)
Every video I watch from you makes me appreciate Tyler's talent more and more. I didn't even think it was possible to like him more until you started breaking down his musicality and how naturally skilled he is in so many ways. Thank you for opening my eyes up to a new level of appreciation for Tyler.
This song 🖤🖤 Means so much. My daughter was suicidal and I heard this on the bus home from work one day and I literally sobbed on the bus lol. It’s now our song. It’s now her text tone when I call or text her. It’s so beautiful. She is My Blood and I will always go with her. 🖤💛
He did a similar version of this a while back in the BBC Live Lounge and I think I replayed the last part of the song like 3 or 4 times because I was so blown away by it lol
I just went back and watched the other location sessions and you are so insightful and amazing at breaking down lyrics. It’s common in reaction channels of tøp that the person reacting misses a lot and doesn’t really pay attention to the lyrics but you have not only listened to the lyrics but you also listen to the production and instruments and make comments on parts you love and how he did differ things and that’s why your my now favorite reactor.
Man, the way he sings "stay with me" at the end is so powerful, it gives me chills every time. On the original song and I'm the early parts of this version it sounds encouraging, like he has your back no matter what, but by the end when he is belting it out it sounds like a plea for you to stay with him, like he doesn't want to lose you. It's amazing how much he can shape the meaning and feeling of his lyrics just with his musicality and voice
No Phun Intended has a lot of songs dealing with his mental stability and his faith, not sure when it was recorded but I believe its some of his earliest work. LOVE your channel and I just turned my daughter onto your channel as well .. total fam affair LOL . I so look forward to all your TOP reactions and just started following you on Instagram too! I'm a regional short haul trucker and listen to all your TOP videos via Bluetooth in my truck SO thanks for keeping me company!! Merry Xmas & Happy New Year to you, your fam & everyone here at The Third Fam!!
If you like these location sessions, you’re going to LOVE the BBC 1 Live Lounge session that Tyler did with Ride and My Blood and a cover of Damian Rice’s “9 Crimes”.
@@TheThirdErnest haha hell yeah brotha! I saw TØP in Houston and man that was a badass show. New to their music then, as I'm hearing them again I've grown to really love the style and how they dont fit into a specific type of genre. These sessions they do are so pure it's great to say it's better live at certain moments. Bandito fo life!
I love that tøp often reference their older songs. Tyler sings about lions in my blood AND migraine: “I did not know it was such a violent island Full of tidal waves, suicidal crazed lions They're trying to eat me, blood running down their chin And I know that I can fight, or I can let the lion win” It really feeds back into the meaning of this song.
I love watching your videos because I get to see new artists that I probably wouldn’t have bothered to listen to before like Witt and TOP. I started watching your videos when you reacted to NF’s new album and enjoyed your reactions ever since. I get to hear new songs, and hearing your breakdown of the lyrics somehow makes it even more special hearing it the for the first time than it would’ve just listening to it on my own. That being said I would love to hear you react to Ivan b.
You are a real credit to your line of work sir. Always such great insight and depth to be found in your videos, especially with songs with deeper motifs. As always God bless you and keep up the great work my friend you definitely deserve to have more subs! Does anyone know if this live session is available outside of RU-vid on individual tracks?
i see a lot of people suggesting addict with a pen, the ug studios sessions one, and this song is so close to my heart and the emotions in thin one is- see for yourself and you’ll know what i mean. loving the videos as always, you’re making my day
My friend. Been so enjoyable watching you react to one of my most favorite bands. Your insights and knowledge of their music is right on point. So happy I found you. Thanks for the smile. Fun fact.....you're my very first you tube person I've ever subscribed too. 😉 Keep up the great work. And thanks for the positivity.
I totally agree with you, I always felt this song was for their fans, but that’s the beauty of their songs, people can interpret them literally or metaphorically or have them mean something entirely different to them. That’s the sign of a true genius writer, a song that can mean so much to so many for whatever reason they need it in their lives.
This rendition of 'My Blood" is so hauntingly beautiful. It makes me cry every single time I hear it. Wonderful reaction @TheThirdErnest, you're the best at music reactions Cheers from 🇨🇦
I think this just moved to my fave react from you. Everything you were feeling was how I was when I first heard it but um, I may have teared up some lol! It gives me chills. I agree with you that this was the perfect reconstruct for this song. I did see someone let you know the back story of this song, & he also dedicated it to his baby (at the time) niece at a Detroit show. Anyway, loving these reactions. His voice never stops amazing me.
my god dude, who would putting thumbs down on something like this? you made me cry, really. you and tyler. so much thank you for this, and all your tøp videos, love 'em
Thank you for doing these videos! I get to see and hear the video again while watching your reaction! 😉 One of my favorite reaction video channels! Peace!
I have, NEVER, heard of this band.. That makes me sad! This is fucking beautiful!! Gotta go on a journey now!! Gotta start from the beginning, of the band!!
I just found your channel and was wondering if you video make a playlist of all ur tøp reactions so I could watch them without missing any Also loved the vid -new sub
Please never stop reacting to tøp videos, I love your view of them and your interpretations, the other RU-vidrs just trigger me, but I REALLY really enjoy your channel
Somebody that's going to be there for you no matter what. When the sunshines and then it rains. The complete opposite of each other. The good and bad. The yin and yang. I'm 46 and and only had one person in my life that ever did this and he is dead now. People really need to step up to the plate and represent this kind of compassion and understanding.
He has a Live @ SiriusXM performance where he does this song and talks about the backstory that inspired this song. His cousins that he looked up to that lived in Michigan.. the younger cousin was cocky and would run his mouth and apparently he was running his mouth at school and the rival football team showed up to his house to kick has ass. And so he said he wrote the song about... people at the end of your driveway calling out your name and he said his older cousin was always quiet and kept to himself, but no one knew that he was a blackbelt and he went down to the end of the driveway and took care of business. He said that story always stuck with him.. that is, defending your family. And so when writing this song, he thought about if he were in that position of having to go defend his family that he would probably need a weapon so he's going to introduce a bat into the story. So this story isn't really about his fans, though whatever works to get someone through a tough time, by all means.
Your amazing at breaking down cryptic verses and your vision on video and breaking them down for people is unbelievable. Thanks for that and thanks for being 100
Another awesome reaction! I love the lyrical breakdown as well as your appreciation for his musical talent. And not forgetting Josh has a HUGE role in everything. I sometimes think songs are written about Josh since it’s been theorized he ‘saved’ Tyler in some ways. ❤️❤️❤️
Your breakdowns are phenomenal! Loving this series. One thing though I always took it as "pull my pin" like pulling a grenade pin - like I'll jump on a live grenade for you. Also a call back to "I'll bomb down on them..." Just my two cents - like you said their lyrics are how you apply them to yourself at times. Much love as always!
Seeing you highlight so much tyler's and the band's talent and versatility makes me appreciate their artwork even more, and I love that♥ I think it's time for you to be even more surprised by Tyler's vocals, and the best way to do it is by listening to Goner. È UNA MINA! (that's italian for your "that's fire"😏😂) For the greatest appreciation you should react to the live version at Fox Theatre It'll be worth it, I promise. Keep doing it man, you're the best at this🔥
Thanks for reacting to TOP, now I'm your fan too! Please listen Taxi Cab, Friend, please! or Truce, man, these lyrics are... I've no words to explain them... Great job!
Now we're here again Ernest, i "Stan" you until you react to "Truce" 😍 I've said it before, I think you understand the power of this song if you listen to it. Love and light from Sweden 🇸🇪 ❤️
I sent this song to a friend and said “dw my dude I won’t disappear” one of my favorite songs from them. (But BARS is my favorite from K.A.A.N. Love ya Ernest lmao)
This Breakdown is unmatched. As much as I love everything that TOP does you bring to light elements that I don’t see and it allows me to gain even more enjoyment out of their body of work. #bestreactoronyoutube
Leaving a comment for that algorithm. Better pick it up youtube lol. You have the best reactions/breakdowns by far for any artist or song I’ve seen. You find the substance of the music, which is awesome 👌🏼 😎
The lions den line is also actually a throwback to a line in the song “Migraine” in the album vessel. The line goes “full of tidal waves, suicidal crazed *lions*. they’re trying to eat me, blood running down their chin. And I know that I can fight, or I can let the *lion* in.” Which I’m actually not sure what this is trying to imply here with that. Any insight? Maybe a reaction to migraine ;)?
I feel like the lion is another form of his depression or anxiety, maybe the lion is his suicidal thoughts. Therefore, he is saying, when you (My Blood) have all this crap going on in your brain, when you are trapped in a "lions den" he will jump in and and pull his pen. Do what Tyler does best and write it out, write a song to get through. He references a PEN as a weapon in multiple songs, "some see a pen, I see harpoon" Up until this reaction, I've always thought of it as a grenade pin for this song, but now I'm leaning towards a pen, to write and kill the lions....
@@dejahwilson268 The lion is the king of the animal kingdom maybe? A ruler? Something/someone with power over him? And why can't it be both? The grenade he tosses are his words, written with his pen, he'll blow up the lions with his music because we're all invited to come along to be seen and heard and see and hear. Lions also hunt in packs and when dark thoughts and depression and anxiety comes hunting for you they rarely come by themselves, they're always in packs. Since the lion is the king it could also be seen as something insurmountable. It's not a little cat or parrot, it's the literal king of the jungle. Transpose that emotionally. Edit: @TheThirdErnest didn't it bum u out that the "weathered flag by the sea" part of chlorine wasn't in the session version? Sure did for me, fav part of the song.
Ok Ernest you ARE a Bandito now so I expect to see the yellow tape on your head phones like Tyler's in your next video! The last sessions song would be perfect. Don't leave us hanging. DOOOOOO ITTTTTTTTT!!! Love ya famo
Another stellar react..i love it when you have to cover your face because you are amazed at Tyler',s voice..Go see them in concert if you ever get a chance zmr Bandito..You wil be amazed like never before!! They work hard!!
