This is maybe my favorite of the early 80’s slasher movies. Fun fact, the guy who played Axel ended up being an animator for the Simpsons

This was filmed right here in Nova Scotia. The FX crew used my cousin's van during the insane production which I always thought was cool. I just visited the Princess Colliery Mine location recently. You have to drive down a long ass creepy road into the woods. My great-grandfather worked in the mine many years ago. Many areas of land you cannot even walk on there due to the possibility of falling down an old mind shaft. 💀📼🤘

That's beyond awesome! Too bad your cousin didn't have the FX crew sign the van, lol. I've been to Sydney Mines, N.S., and it's a wonderful town. Also visited the site of the Princess Colliery. The people there couldn't have been nicer😁 Having the movie shot there makes it even cooler. I hope I can visit soon really soon!

You guys definitely watched the edited down version. In 2009 all the gore in the kill scenes were restored, but had a very clear film grain over those scenes. The newest blu-ray restored it nearly perfectly

The miner costume is so simple yet so effective it’s a creepy look. It has pretty damn good kills in the unrated version with plenty of variety like getting impaled on the shower head was pretty cool. Sad that you couldn’t find the unrated version. An underrated slasher the first Valentine’s Day slasher .

You should have watched the uncut version. It's so much better and shows the full kills that were cut out back in 1981. Great reaction though. You guys had me laughing with your comments 😂😊 Happy Bloody Valentine's Day❤❤❤❤❤

@@CIA9270 I agree. Sooooo good. There is a novelization out as well by Armando Munez that goes way more into the story and characters and kills. You can find it and the game on STOP THE KILLER.

Great outfits! I'm not into slashers normally but this one has such a strong sense of place and makes such good use of the mine and the stuff associated with it. I think Axel's motivation (besides insanity) may have been not wanting the town to party on the anniversary of the most horrible day of his life, and/or the ingrained fear from the event making him take Harry's warning to never do the party again super seriously.

You guys should watch the uncut version. Back in 1981 the MPAA had them cut all of the gore shots. The dryer and shower deaths are way better in the uncut version.

When I was younger, I found the end a bit perplexing, too (why would he emulate the killer who slaughtered his dad?), but the more I watch the film (which I try to do every year), I've come to figure Axel's got massive PTSD - the holiday's got to be super-triggering for him (I guess the town is so small they don't have a therapist) - & has developed some kind of psychosis or psychopathy or whatever, his fervent desire to prevent the town from celebrating basically causing him to take up the mantle of Harry Warden. So yeah, he's crazy, but it makes a kind of sense.

BRIDGECO now that y'all love birds have checked out the Original My Bloody Valentine 1981 here's an unofficial Sequel I highly recommend checking out sometime (Valentine Bluffs: A My Bloody Valentine Fan Film) which's set 40 Years after the events of this OG Film but be4 that I highly recommend checking the unofficial Friday the 13th Part 7 Sequel (Rose Blood a Friday the 13th Fan Film) just so that y'all love birds don't get 2 many/much spoilers!
