Though the audio quality is low, I'm still thankful that this video exists; it records an event that I'm very sad to have missed, and I'm hoping that I may someday be able to see live (an MBV concert). A gem for any serious MBV fans.
this kind of music relaxes me. waaa. pure love... i can listen to this for hours and hours, i never get sick of it. my parents complain about it, though :/
I just want you two to know, that I really appreciate how you settled your disagreement (which, like most online disputes, was based on a mis communication) like adults, and didn't resort to a stupid flame war.
Anyone know of any footage from First Avenue in Minneapolis Feb 92? That was my first club show I ever went to, with MBV Dinosaur Jr and Babes In Toyland.
hmmm, not sure. it's kevin that's doing all the pitch bending though. and there could definitely be sequencing in there since I'm pretty sure kevin uses a BOSS loop pedal.
i dunno, lucky i guess...I wear earplugs now lots, when I was 14 i didn't really think of stuff like that. I remember MBV playing one chord for 5-10 minutes, my first foray into 'shoegazing', it fucked with my head.
Nice! I'm a bassist, so I've been wondering how to get "that sound." I've been kicking around starting a '90s alt cover band; Jawbreaker (because nobody covers Jawbreaker it seems), Jesus and Mary Chain, Smashing Pumpkins, Sebadoh, Dinosaur jr, Guided By Voices...intended audience? All of my fellow aging Gen X'ers with disposable income to burn :) ...the beauty of being in a band when you've got a good day job? It becomes strictly fun :)
Yep. It is a wall of sound. That's the point. That's what they're trying to achieve. Sonic rapture. If you enjoy bands where you can distinguish everything independently, this is never going to be your band. Just understand that this is how they intend to sound.
im still confused as to how he made that weird whale noise sound in the studio version; obviously he did something where he could not do live. can anyone tell me?
en realidad si, radiohead era de esas banda shoegazing como MBV, pale saints, revolver, etc, solo que radiohead saco estereotipos de su musica, y exploro mas e innovaron, pero si que eran de la misma onda. ahora no! =)
i think you don't catch the meaning.....i've just said that only two bands can make a sound like this and play it live. sonic and bloody. other bands can only make noise the most of the time.
the true is taht radiohead was a shoegazing band like MBV, pale saints, revolver, etc, but radiohead cut off the stereotypes and focus on avant garden and experimentation sounds, thats the diference between MBV and radiohead but both are great band i like both! ONLY KIDS LIKE TO COMPARES BANDS, U BABIES HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO IDENTIFY THE SOUNDS AND ENJOY THE ART OF MAKING GOOD MUSIC!
Is it even remotely possible to accurately cover MBV (curious, and asking as a musician who's kicked the idea around a few times, but honestly hasn't got the gus to try it) :)
Hey, just because I don't favor distortion doesn't mean I like Jack Johnson. God forbid. I just appreciate music where each instrument can be distinguished, and each musicians contributions are distinct. I like being able to hear the bassist do a little flourish, or to appreciate a fill by a drummer. Here, it's just a wall of sound.
Ouch. This is painfully awful. I'll never understand why loud distortion continues to pull people in. It seems a shame, since there's actually a lot to like under all that distortion. Why not let it out?
Nice try. However... Hell... Even I sound better singing that song than the Asian chic... I mean... Crap... Listen to the original for crying out loud!!!! (Is not about singing bored... is about singing with effect girl!!!)
