My Bookshelf Tour and Home Library + the books that made me who I am
Please share with me what you are currently reading! Today I am re-making my home library! I made a home library video about 6 months ago, but since then my husband has made me some custom bookshelves, made with raw wood edges and handcrafted pine. It smells lovely and I am so excited to organize my shelves and give you a bookshelf tour, sharing a bit of my collection. I have a mixture of fiction, fantasy, graphic novels, spiritual books, history books, and classics. I have a collection of poetry and literature from my academic days, but decided that that could make a separate video someday. I hope you enjoy it! Sending much love, Paola

After a long, busy night shift on a cancer ward, this was the breath of fresh air that I needed to quiet my soul. I love absolutely love my nursing career. Some shifts are truly heartbreaking, but strangely, always uplifting and inspiring too in its own way. Much 💗 from Australia 🇦🇺 😌

Love you so much. However, it broke my heart to see what seems to be the Bible being the only book turned backwards… 💔 I understand and maybe you only keep it for sentimental reasons but that’s still something to embrace. I hope I’m wrong about this but I just couldn’t help but share..

YOU KNOW WHAT I NOTICED?? WHAT?WHAT? Thru all your fantastic videos, I just finally realized that everything about "Books" has gotten you the most talkative and excited!! So if you are in a slump, pondering over what kind of video to make, whip out a book or two and take us all on a journey. Yes, books are magical and probably the best gift to give alongside a vigorous growing plant.

Your bookshelves are so beautiful. Your husband is very talented and has the vision to see the beauty hiding within those pieces of wood. Once you moved your books and plants etc. into the space, it looked like it had been that way forever. I love books and I love those shelves.

Luke's vision is so married to yours. He understands, he gets it. You are so lucky to have found each other. His use of live-edge wood for the bookshelves makes it so magical. You're right, it's like a fairy library and the way you have it organized and arranged does indeed make it feel like it's always been there. Comfort in books is so important. Mavi made me crack up. I strained my eyes and craned my neck to see where Beatrix Potter's books ended up. Very honored company, indeed. Thank you for your soft and light energy, it's just what I needed this morning. At some point I stopped thinking about "becoming my best self", a version of me that was always somewhere in a land far away that I would never get to, and just started honoring myself, whoever that was/is at that moment in time. No one is static and "best selves" are illusions to keep us chasing things that often end up hollowing out our actual selves. The great thing about children's books is that they, in my opinion, really celebrate the little imperfect asynchronies in ourselves and our lives.

For gardeners I was gifted a book called The Well Gardened Mind. It was very impactful and moving. The writer is a psychiatrist who came to gardening through raising her family. The author Sue Stuart-Smith works with veterans with PTSD and other presentations as well as communities. It’s sounds dry but at times I was moved to tears with the beauty and honesty of her writing.

Luke did an exceptional job with your new bookcase. The bark edge is exquisite, your cat has a lovely fluffy tail and your dog looks at you with those soft intelligent, understanding eyes that know more about you than you even know. "Cottage Fairy Companion," by my favorite fairy. "The Meadow," James Galvin (from the library). "All Creatures Great and Small," James Herriot (wedding present from my husband 35.5 years ago ♥️, reading the series again). My favorite books as a kid were all the Black Stallion and Island Stallion books. Your live edge shelves are gorgeous!
