My favorite detail in this episode is that they used Alastor vs Adam to demonstrate what Carmilla meant by angels fighting in a sloppy way. In terms of pure power Alastor is nowhere near Adam but was able to put up a fight by being smarter and finessing around him. Alastor lost the moment he got cocky and tried to take Adam’s attack head on.
Alastor does own Niffty’s soul, and, if we look back to the pilot (which is taken as loose canon) you can see hers and Husk’s outlines when Vaggie talks about Alastor “toppling overlords”. Niffty might very well be a previous Overlord. I really hope so. It would be hilarious, and explain why he wanted the soul of a tiny gremlin
That is all fine with Charlie by the way. Episode 1, Husk literally says he is staying at the Hotel because Alastor forces him to. Does not matter to Charlie - she needs a bartender, so he stays.

@@Y13-t2b she cannot do anything about the angels being a-holes either yet she tries so hard to change their mind. She could have at least tried talking with the two them. Asking Husk if he really does not want to stay, then if he says so, ask Alastor to allow him to leave...which I guess, not enough screentime to include such conversations. Could have happened offscreen, Husk saying he will be fine after all...for a headcanon. But she should have had such talks with her Hotel's staff/guests.
in regards to alastor, id like to remind you of what happened when he threatened husk husk said "big talk for someone whos also on a leash." alastor has made a deal with a demon stronger than him with unknown conditions, and it likely happened either during or before the time he disappeared for 7 years
Collecting souls isn't the only way to become more powerful. You can also gain strength based on others believing in your power, that's why Alastor and the Vees are so careful about cultivating their images as powerful and untouchable. It's possible Adam is experiencing a similar effect, as the first human soul in heaven and father of all humanity he likely has a lot of people believing in him, at the very least all of his exorcists.
I think I've said this in every Ep. 8 reaction I've seen, but it stands. I LOVE watching people fall in love with Sir Pentious and then react to his "fight" versus Adam. They really did a fantastic job making us all fall in love with him.
~40:00 I have a guess about the deal he's referencing, putting it below JUST IN CASE anyone considers this kind of speculation a spoiler risk: I think Alastor has a deal with Lilith; he disappeared 7 years ago, which is also how long Charlie says it's been since she heard from her mother in the first episode. I think there's got to be a connection, and she's the only character we've been introduced to so far who is both mysterious and powerful enough for me to imagine her having Alastor on a leash (though there's always the possibility it's someone we haven't met).

Don't forget that it's heavily implied that someone owns alastors soul. (he made some sort of deal, and husk said he's also on a leash, which implies to me someone owns alastors soul) It's possible that Alastor is helping Charlie because he's forced to because of the deal (or at least, that's why he started anyways)
43:40 Before I ever saw this scene, I wrote a fanfiction that followed episode 6 in which Emily is wandering Heaven's streets still upset at how the court case went with Seraph. She sits down at the ice cream parlor to get her usual, only for someone to walk up and ask why she looked so down. A lot of their conversation is putting information of the past into perspective, and how righteousness is determined. When he gets up, he tells her "Don't give up on mortal souls. Yes, they can be corrupted, but salvation is never out of the question, and soon you will have proof of that, little one." He walks away and although she's not so sure, Emily walks away from the parlor with her hope restored only when Sir Pentious arrives at her and Seraph's personal room.
I like to think that Lucifer actually knows that Pentious got redemption. This by the last song when he sing "You can do this. Now I know it. ... You changed my mind. You touched their hearts. Find the good in souls gone bad." I like to think that he is talking about Sir Pentious. Lucifer is an angle after all, he might still know where souls are.
The thing alastor was standing in front of was just the trapdoor of access to the radio tower he opened at the start of that scene, the light is just that, light
I was so eager to watch this episode, and your absolute joy about Pentious was worth it! If I had to pick my favourite moment of the end, it would be that. But also mood on why Adam is so strong, that always made no sense and I don't think he'll be in Season 2.
Only thing to mention about Helluva Boss before watching is that it focuses more on Hellborn demons and not on just the Pride Ring. Though the Helluva Boss crew's office is actually in the Pride Ring with the Sinners. And that the only sinners you'll see are the ones that interact with the crew. Most of the HB cast is all hellborn.
The reason why Luci came so "late" is because he had the contract with angels that they will leave the hellborn out of the extermination. That is also the reason why their masks start glitching as soon as Lute kills Razzle (or Dazzle idk which one now) and Adam harms Charlie and threatens here, from there on out its the real-estate for Lucifer to fight back. Also Lucifer did design hell as a cricus which I think is really poetic since he meant for it to be cheerful way back when he had hope but it instead turned out to be a joke (on his expence).
My theory is that Alastor made his deal somewhere during the seven years he was missing (possibly in the beginning, causing him to go missing, or at the very end of them, allowing him to return?), and that it’s stopping him from buying more souls and amassing more power, alongside other things probably (I think a substantial amount of his power is locked up, but that’s just a theory). We see him refuse Rosie’s tip for “prime picking grounds for souls”, and Mimsy says “he hasn’t been doing that in a while now” when talking about his reign of terror stuff. I don’t think a guy who’s as power-hungry as Alastor is shown to be would pass up on this kind of stuff.
The "unclip my wings" bit makes me think Alastor's more of a control freak than he is power hungry. Wings and flying are often used to symbolize freedom in art, music, and literature. I suspect power is more a means to an end for Alastor. In a place like hell where law and order don't exist (or exist in a very twisted or minimal extent), power of any form (authority, status, sheer brute force, etc.) and/or powerful allies is basically a requirement for safety and survival without being under someone's control.
so... I think that in the second season there will be a song similar to "Loser Baby" as it was with "Happy Day in Hell" and "More than Anything". Angel may have to cheer Husk up this time. Maybe it will be something like "WE're losers baby"
According to some interpretations of theology, humans are greater than angels because they have free will. So Adam's power doesn't surprise me too much... but it does raise questions. Also, when I did makeup inspired by Angel Dust today, I totally forgot your reaction was coming up. But seeing him protect the eggs made me happy I did.

I watched the whole hazbin hotel before watching your reactions, and I have to say that before knowing your channel I did like the show, but way less. I mostly liked alastor and the plot, but I wasn't really into most of the songs and the characters. But your reactions and your channel were so insightful, with your empathy and you sharing your thoughts about the characters, not only made me come back and watch the whole show again (and feel like I get much more of it), not only enjoying much more of the songs, but also made this show much more meaningful for me and become one of my favorite shows I've seen so far. TIME TO SPILL THE TEA!!!!!!!! PLEASE READ!!!!!! • So Adam is so powerful because he's the first mortal soul to go to heaven. • The reason why Lucifer was late was because the theory going around is that him and Adam signed a contract in order to do the extermination but Adam wouldn't hurt his daughter, Charlie. But Adam broke that contract so that's when Lucifer came in and fought. • And there is another theory that Alastor had made a deal with Lilith. Which is why he says "I am hungry for freedom like never before. Surely the strings of my deal have a black door. Once I figure out how to unclip my wings, guess who will be pulling all the strings!" Because all he wants is power. And both Alastor and Lilith have been gone for 7 years. But they did not make that deal during those 7 years. So he had a lot of power in the beginning when he first arrived in hell, which is not normal for a mortal soul. He was taking down powerful overlords left and right. Eventually he challenged Lilith and lost because he got too cocky. So, they made a deal. Lilith let Alastor keep the power that he already had and his title as long as he helped Charlie with the hotel and made sure nothing bad happened. • Alastor lost to Adam because once again he was over confident. • Another Alastor theory is that when Alastor was missing for seven years he was locked away somewhere. Because he can't go to the other rings of hell and I don't think heaven would allow him up there. • Also Alastor is a Mama's boy. And when his mother died he promised her that he would ALWAYS smile during good or bad. So that's why he can't stop smiling. • The V's are also going to be the main villains in season two. So we'll get to see more of them. • HOPEFULLY we see Adam in hell. And another theory is that for helping Charlie with redeeming sinners, Emily might become a fallen Angel for going against heaven's orders. • Also Vox and Alastor were to be assumed friends in the past. And ANOTHER theory is that Vox was in love with Alastor and one point in their friendship. And when he asked Alastor to join the V's and he declined they fought. So this either went two ways. One Vox beat Alastor which I doubt. Two Alastor beat Vox and almost killed him but decided not to because they used to be friends. And it was also said that Valentino was there during the fight between the two because in episode 2 he says "Are pissed that he almost beat you that time?" And Val only has one good antenna, the other is broken which is why he can't fly because moths can't fly with a broken antenna. And it's said that he must have broken it during the fight between Vox and Alastor. • Also Vox and Val are not dating they are in a situation ship. The only cannon ships are Chaggie and Cherri x Sir Pentious. But we're hoping to see HuskerDust and RadioApple in season two or future seasons. Hope this helps 😊

The fact that Lute says “if you want to stay here” makes me think Lilith is up there willingly. But for her to be allowed into heaven, especially as Adam doesn’t seem like a graceful ex, I wonder what she offered in return for that.
4:24 nah alastor just enjoy nifty company and so she does that she followed him by her free will (the ultimate bad boy). 39:27 alastor there was talking about the deal he signed with lilith and i think the deal is something about helping charlie , and i also tink it happened after alastor battled against vox 7 years before (coincidence or not lilith is gone for 7 years and alastor too) being badly ingured or for the phrase valentino said to vox in ep 2 “you’re still pissed you almost beat you that time” alastor made the deal to gain more power just to be the number one overlord in hell or something. 41:44 you can clearly see husk hope on being free being crusht in less than a second here
So we don't have facts, but we do have a lot of _hints_ for what's going on with Alastor. First, both Alastor and Lilith have been missing for seven years. Second, Alastor is way stronger than he should be. Third, he's on the same kind of leash as Husk (so he probably doesn't own his own soul), four he shows up right after Charlie calls Lilith. The general theory is that Lilith owns his soul, and sent him to look after Charlie. No confirmation yet, but he's _weirdly_ help to Charlie. When, you know, he's a complete monster.
Alastor's a twisted sadist for sure, but I'd reserve "complete monster" for people like Valentino. It's very telling that Alastor lets Niffty get away with crawling over him, and the creator described him as similar to Dexter (a fictional serial killer who targets other serial killers). Hell being what it is, Alastor is surrounded by the kinds of folks he targeted in life. So from his perspective, why not enjoy their suffering? TLDR - Alastor is not a nice nor good person, but he's not evil either.
Adam is powerful because he has what I call “first man privileges” 😂 He was the first human soul and he was also directly created by the angels themselves so he’s special. Alastor is powerful for a sinner, but there are a lot of characters leagues above him. Compared to say, Lucifer, he’s a bug on a windshield.

We've known since Mimzi showed up that Alistor is currently contracted to an unknown entity, we also don't know the details of the deal; all we know for certain is that he was gone for about 7 years, came back, and at some point during that missing time, he made a deal. I believe that for whatever reason, Alistor has specifically been constrained and not free to act how he wishes (it's a duh statement I know but bear with me). Most of the song is a red hearing but I believe the moniker he gives himself, "Altruist Alistor: clearly relates to the specifics of his deal. I believe the contract he's under puts a severe limitation on when and how he can do anything for himself personally, he cannot act on his own behalf or gain. While Alistor can say whatever he wants and while he can put conditions on his help, almost all of Alistors interactions revolve around performing an action that directly benefits someone other than Alistor. He rails against his deal by only providing information to help when its literally needed, and by offering conditions. I believe if the opposing party refuses his deal or conditions (so long as those qualifications constitute a fair trade rational) Alistor's own deal doesn't count this as 'not helping' because he was ready to help under the right conditions; but he never refuses to help point blank. In Fact, if my theory is correct, Alistor's behavior in the first half of the season follows the foot in the door principles; essentially first asking very little in return for a large gain for the other party; this grows trust, and by the time Alistor makes an actual Deal with Charlie he now has enough repore with her that she takes the deal against her better judgement. Smallest of side notes; any thoughts that perhaps Nifty called Alistor the King of the Roaches because she believe that he wont die? like a little twisted blessing? or maybe she's saying he's really hard to get rid of? I know its an over analysis but as her whole character is about stabbing bugs..why would she name me as their king?
I think Lilith made a deal/ tricked Alastor so they traded places cause her horns weren’t shown and she’s in heaven and Alastor said to ‘unclip his wings’. Don’t know just a theory. Plus I love your videos!!!❤
I dont think you caught what Alastor said during his interaction with husk in episode 5. That will defiantly help understand what he was talking about during his mental breakdown this episode.
I would suspect that Adam's power comes from being the leader of the army... equals the demons holding souls. I'm pretty sure Adam will come back as a demon. Some people say no, due to being killed by an angelic weapon, but that is only said to be what harms them, it doesn't say anything about what turns them. (Other than 'falling') Alot of people think Alistor and Lilith made a deal, and traded places. I'm wanting to see Eve more than Lilith, but that I know of, she won't be a character... unless she ends up being Roo. Who could also end up being Alistors master.

Regarding Lilith. Now this gets complicated. Go back and check all the scenes in which we see Lilith. Her face is always obscured to some degree. Even in the end we still don't see her eyes. This is a clue that we are being mislead. All the scenes in which we see Lilith cast ominous impressions. But we cannot see her face. The thing is we have another source for learning who Lilith is. Charlie things of her mother as the kind and caring one that was always there for her. She learned about Lucifer's hopes and dreams from Lilith because she hardly ever saw her father and he would not talk about his hopes and dreams because they are what crushed him. She heard the stories from Lilith because she was keeping them alive. She was the one who taught Charlie to have empathy for the sinners. Lucifer cannot stand them. But Lilith still has compassion for them. This is why she was singing to them. She was trying to rally them to form a community. To bring them together to find hope. And then there is the scene where Lilith takes Charlie away from Lucifer. This is the scene where her face is just gone. Very much a misdirect. The scene happened but we are being mislead as to how and why. We see Charlie sneak into the room with Lucifer. She goes up and begs him to tell her about his hopes and dreams. And because it is his daughter that he loves more than anything he begins telling her about his dreams even though it hurts. This is when Lilith enters the room, and Lucifer smiles at her, and she gently takes Charlie out of the room out of Mercy. This was not her leaving Lucifer. She has always loved him. And then we see the conversation on the beach. Again with the face obscured so we can't see her eyes. This takes some conjecture but the pieces are there to connect the dots. Seven years ago she was doing her singing trying to rally Hell. Heaven was worried about this not because they were afraid of them rebelling. Rather it was the idea that an organized Hell might start asking questions and Heaven was built on lies. They had been guessing about the how and why of Heaven and Hell since the beginning. They believed that Heaven was a the reward and Hell eternal punishment. But we know this to be a lie now. So they were desperate to keep Hell from asking questions. So they sent Adam to deal with Lilith any way he wanted to as long as she was stopped. Now its uncertain if this is when the executions started or not. But Adam had a grudge from when Lilith rejected him in the garden so what likely happened is that either he started them and was threatening to kill the Hellborn including Charlie as well if Lucifer and Lilith did not agree to let Adam take her to Heaven as his pet with her telling everyone that she was there on her own free will having left Lucifer to be with Adam. So when Lute shows up on the beach with Adam's halo she tells Lilith the deal is off. Lute thinks that she is in Heaven because she wants to be and so if she wants to remain in Heaven she has to work for Lute stopping Charlie. But the deal as Lilith sees it is that she is there to protect Charlie. And if Heaven is gunning for her now she is going to have to try to stop her in order to save her. So Viv has been laying this series of misdirects since the start of the show. And season 2 will start off with Lilith showing up seemingly working for Heaven to stop Charlie. But once she sees that Charlie has people defending her and that Lucifer is active again and the fact that Charlie is following in her footsteps she will reject Heaven and side with Charlie. Likely helping her learn how to use her powers together with Lucifer.
I'm probably wrong and will get eviscerated in the comments but I believe that Niffty's soul is not owned by Alistor. Alistor just likes having her along as she is crazy and violent.

Alastors been powerful since showing up in hell probably in the 30s trans Atlantic radio style and all that but he did disappear around the same time as Lilith and he comes back to immediately start helping Charley and stuff so the maijn theory is he cut a deal with mother dearest to protect and help her for one reason or another but he's not a fan of being under someone's foot obviously he wants to be the top dog any like maybe his powers even been nurfed because of the deal like maybe he tried to take Lilith on because hes alot more powerful than he currently is and she won and cut him a deal to spare his life and his whole pissing match with lucifer was reverse psychology knowing making him. Jealous would get him closer to Charly and by extension be another powerful person he can use to possibly break his deal ect ect

Lucifer said he had tried what charlie was doing himself, What if like now it had worked then but Being locked into hell Lucifer had no way of knowing, and the exterminations were an attempt keep the redeemed out. They were up rising, rising up from hell and had to be stopped because you couldn't let those sort in
A nice detail a lot a people miss about this fight is Lucifer's timing. Lucifer made a contract with Adam that so long as Adam didn't harm a hellborn demon he wouldn't interfere with the extermination so that Charlie would be safe. From that point, Lucifer was UNABLE to fight the exorcists. The second Adam killed Charlie's bodyguards, the goats, and attacked her Lucifer was free to act and he INSTANTLY flew to her side curbed stomped Adam.

It's not speculation though. Lute literally told Charlie in the VERY FIRST EPISODE "Daddy gave you and your hellborn kind a pardon from the Exorcists blade.". Lucifer only interfered now because Adam directly stated he was going to kill Charlie (hense the mask glitching out, signaling he broke his end of the deal).
@@DarthDragon007 It's a good theory, and it may be true. But other than an offhand comment that does not give us the full details of the deal, we have no specific proof that that is the case. Until we are given the full details of the deal in question, it remains a theory.
Also, some people say that the glitch effect in both, Lute's and Adam's masks might be from the times the deal is broken, Lute's seems to be glitched when Razzle/Dazzle dies from bleeding out, while Adam's glitches when he tells Charlie that it's time to die Just a theory tho
I always love Val's face when he sees Nifty hop on Adam and just shank his ass. You KNOW he's remembering the club, and how easy and fast she got on his back.
It's a bit presumptuous to say God is the one who beamed him. We don't even know if there actually is a character that represents God or godlike being in this universe. After all, Sera seems to be the highest authority in Heaven as far as we know.
I think the reason Adam was so strong is because he was one of the first humans. He was made from the raw material that angels used to craft him and Lilith. so they are quite literally BUILT DIFFERENT than other souls.
I love that Pentious' kiss and sacrifice was, apparently, enough to convince Cherri that the Hotel was worth it, sice she stays after that and even helps rebuild
He checked everything on Adams list. Sacrifice (selfless), he gave Alastor his coat piece back (not stealing) and he stood up against Adam when he lost his life (stuck it to the man).
I like to think she stuck around because even though she still undoubtedly thinks Charlie's a goody-two-shoes, her sticking up for Hell and being willing to fight the Exorcists with the rest of them means Cherri at least respects her now. Sort of a "I still think that redemption junk's all nonsense, but you stuck to it and took on a fight most people would run from for it, I guess you're alright" sort of thing. They may not have much in common, but Cherri does seem like the kind of person who'd respect someone putting themselves at risk for their convictions--and someone putting themselves in danger for your sake without asking for any kind of compensation *in Hell* is probably rare enough on its own. So, helping get the hotel rebuilt out of respect wouldn't be too far fetched, imo. I think Pentious definitely won points with her, but depending on how sentimental Cherri is, I could see an argument for her more or less moving on from him getting exterminated (since we don't know if anyone but Sera & Emily know otherwise) just as much as her sticking around to help out because of it.

She is a religious zealot cultist who is so deep in her delusion and devotion to Adam that she told Charlie, "The only reason you are alive is because Daddy pardoned you and your hellborn kind from an exorcist blade. How does that feel? To know how LITTLE you matter." She wasn't just trying to shut down Charlie but she wanted to destroy her confidence for even "daring" to insinuate sinners were the same as heavenly souls. She is the kind of person who saw Vaggie offering MERCY to a sinner and immediately ripping out her eye as punishment. Taking "eye for an eye" so to speak. Even Adam says that in his song "Hell is Forever". She even rips out Vaggie's wings as she tells her she has no place in heaven despite offering mercy being something angels SHOULD do. Lute was even so extreme that Adam told her to chill out when she said to, "Rip Vaggie's c×nt mouth out her a$$!" Even making the gesture. She revels in the pain and torment she brings others. You could even see it in her lines in "You Didn't Know". So yes. When Lute says that they are only spared because they made a DEAL with Lucifer? I BELIEVE WHAT THE SHOW SAYS. Its pointless to argue with canon evidence. Do you honestly believe that Lucifer wouldn't have been there from the start if he could interfere?? Its his DAUGHTER. The one he loves "More Than Anything". Realistically in a storyboarding sense Lucifer's OP powers wouldn't have made the battle exciting and would've cut a lot of important character moments. So, yes, when the show tells me he made a deal with them to keep Charlie and other hellborn's safe? I BELIEVE IT. Its silly to think we know more than the writers who put the line there on PURPOSE. I mean really? In a series where soul contract deals are SUPER important and constantly brought up you want to say to ignore it?? Why? By your logic we should ignore that Alastor and Lilith were gone for "7 years" just because the characters said it so it doesn't mean anything?? We can't cherry pick the info we want. That's a super biased take and isn't how you should do ANY research/theory crafting. We don't get to pick and choose the info we want to believe unless the creator themselves comes out to retcon it.
When Alastor says "once I figure out how to unclip my Wings" he was referring to being able to fly free from the strain's of his deal, and not actually referring to real Wings

As for Alastor they've alluded to it a few times. He disappeared for 7 years so probably was injured and made a deal to live. But recall during the Lucifer reveal episode he gets mad at Husk for mentioning he also is wearing chains.
