I had a boyfriend exactly like that. Law won't do anything. There are squatter laws and he knew them. You have to file an eviction at least here in Texas. Its a complete nightmare. Do not let anyone move in. I learned the hard way.

My ex husband wouldn't leave. He was physically abusive. So when he went to work, l packed up all his personal belongings except his clothes in boxes. It took him almost 3 weeks to find himself a rental and move out. Choose a realtor, sign the papers, tell your boyfriend to move out. Call the police if he doesn't leave. Tell the police that you've ended your relationship. Listen to your instincts. Listen to your gut.

I strongly suspect that she's already mentioned her plan to sell her house to pay off her debt and he's called her "selfish" for wanting to do that. It sounds like he's not paying rent and wants to keep it that way. I'd just tell him that I can't afford to live here anymore and need to sell it. So, they're just going to have to find somewhere else to live. Honestly, I'd find a SMALL place to rent for a year or so, two bedrooms, so he won't get the idea that there's room for him and his kids.

If he's established a residence there which he has for you to get him to leave you would have to evict him and that could take a month to do it. She would have to legally evict him. Unfortunately she can't just call the police. Every place is different but most roommates have tenant's rights even if they aren't paying. If she sells it he has to go.

I know they mean well, but they're potentially wrong depending upon the state. I had a similar situation where an ex girlfriend completely refused to leave and the state (GA) completely sided with her. Between squatter's rights and eviction extensions/complications, I was looking at somewhere around 2-5 YEARS to MAYBE get her out. Oh, and in the state of GA, if you're evicting someone from a shared living space and there is ANY dispute over what belongs to who, they either have to evict EVERYTHING in the house (your stuff included) or send you back to court for yet another extension. Calling the cops and simply having someone removed is not how that works.

Sounds like she is manipulated. The fact he has her thinking SHE is selfish. Her other choice is to stay in debt so she could continue to take care of him and his kids and her kids.

If she doesn’t really want to sell, serve him with a thirty day eviction day notice. He is the type that needs to see it in black and white.

She needs to contact an attorney, make sure her home owners insurance is paid up, and a womens shelter, as she has put herself into a dangerous situation. She needs to create the gentlist way for him to leave. If he has no morals ...he may resort to physical violence with her or her children or may choose to damage the house, or burn it to the ground on the way out of the situation. Womens shelter can give you the best advice to protect yourself physically. Attorney can advise on legal steps to protect you legally & financially. Take pics and video of every square inch of the home & your belongings before you tell him to leave and evict. You may want to sell to protect your wellbeing and your children's. Follow the laws in your state and find out how soon you can change the locks.

People have to be careful about cohabitating because she may have to to give him notice and begin an eviction. Couples often agree to live with each other and split the bills, which is probably the reason she’s wanting to sell the house ow that his income is leaving. If he has any evidence of that agreement then it’s becomes a civil matter and the cops can’t make him leave. Of course it’s stupid on his part not to because some women will make up evil lies to have him removed anyways. Check the law in your area then give him written notice and start an eviction if he doesn’t immediately agree.

File for eviction. This is the only option. That gives him time to find somewhere before the court hearing. If he gets physical, then get the police involved. No need to get the police involved if he’s just being an a##. Also - she has to be 100% clear to him that the relationship is over. From listening to the caller, I don’t believe she’s been clear.

Don't know what state she is living in as laws vary but in my state if you reside at the residence in question and receive mail at that address she has to evict him thru the courts... Good Luck

If she could afford to rent it out I would, but selling is also a good option if she hasn’t been in the house long and if it’s too stressful for her to rent out. I’m sorry I am absolutely sensitive to all the children involved, but he is the father of his 3 children. It is his responsibility to take care of them. When she puts it on the market and it’s purchased, he can’t stay.
