This is one of my favorite trailers for just that. So many questions raised and most of them are WTF was that? EW didn't have nearly as many unexpected surprises.
I'm here for it. I still maintain that views won't be a problem here. The whole community LOVES a shb trailer reaction. Also, sometimes the moon is just the moon.
The cinematic of the WoL fighting the angel is simple: Starts out as an archer because that's what the trailer of 1.0 showed him as IIRC. Then he changes to Warrior, which is what the trailer for ARR showed him as. Then he changes to Dragoon because that's what he was in Heavensward. Then, to Monk and then Samurai because those two jobs he was in the Stormblood trailer. And he ends by turning into a Dark Knight which fits the Shadowbringers theme they are setting up.
One of the best trailers for a game I’ve ever seen. The strings that kick in at the second part always gives me chills. See, ppl still show up for trailer reactions :D
Playing as far as I have in Shadowbringers, I'm so glad I can look back on this trailer and see how much more sense it makes! It makes SO MUCH SENSE once you reach your first dungeon in the expansion!
Soken's first outing as the main theme composer (all the other CGI trailer themes were Uematsu) and the man freakin' KILLS IT right out of the gate. And the cinematic team rocked it like they always do. It's so wild to go back to the old cinematic and then look at these newer ones and seeing just how more detailed they are. The old cinematics are beautiful, but there's a level of detail in the ShB and EW trailers that is missing from the older ones.
This trailer WILL NOT answer any questions until after you clear 5.0 and later 5.3 LMAO its playing 5D chess with you. Also, probably one of the best trailers EVER. I still get chills watching it. Edit: the angel and the lion are bosses from an amdapor dungeon, it makes sense in retrospect lol
A little breakdown on the classes the WoL changed too in the trailer. he was an Archer in 1.x, Warrior in A Realm Reborn, Dragoon in Heavensward and Monk and Samurai in Stormblood and he changed to them in that order. If you have not already, i recommend playing the optional dungeon The Lost City of Amdapor (Hard, lv 60) before jumping into Shadowbringers.
I think I can safely say that this is the moment everyone has been waiting for. You know, until the next moment. 😆 This was a great reaction. But how could it not be? Best expansion, IMO. Some people prefer EW, but this one is definitely my fave. I just finished it on my alt after having finished EW on my main and it still holds true for me. Lastly, all I can say is, prepare yourself! 😄
I love both tbh. ShB is in many ways a really great self-contained story with some very, very deep implications for the overall story arc, while EW is just balls-to-the-wall batshit crazy lunacy of the most epic proportions. They're both incredible in their own respective ways.
@rogthepirate4593 Well, let's just say there were certain parts that just didn't makes sense to me and some things felt a bit rushed that really could have used more time while other things felt like they dragged on way too long. Also, there just seemed to be a much higher cutscene to action ratio compared to previous expansions, but I could be completely wrong about that. It's just how it felt to me. One particular scene especially felt like a wasted opportunity for a good solo instance fight. But these are purely my opinions. It just felt slightly unbalanced to me. Not bad, by any means, but still behind ShB in my personal tier list.
I always like to point this out... The 1.0 MSQ was the Bard's expansion.....in his vision. But there in the moment sitting at the table? He's got a sword. It's a pretty big one, and he puts it over his shoulder with his backpack, but I wouldn't say it's clearly a 2H either (plus there were no jobs/weapon connections in 1.0 as they are now), so I like to think of it as a large 1H sword, making ARR and Endwalker fit together as very nice bookends to the story reflected in the WoL's jobs. Gladiator & Paladin.
I don't know who you are, or how you got on my recommended feed, but i see someone reacting to to SHB trailer and I have to watch. I enjoyed your reactions, and hope you enjoy 5.0, it's PHENOMENAL.
I don't think I ever noticed the shanty towns and your comment about the Burn was very interesting. 🧠 You're as bemused as the rest of us were otherwise of course, but then some streamers have come out of this thinking Y'shtola here is literally Matoya (famously not a cat) so congrats for making it over that bar at least 😂
I think it's more confusing *with* context (up to 4.5) because if you've never played the game you wouldn't be questioning the name drops for Matoya and Minfilia.
I am here for my contractually obligated viewing. If I may steal an expression seen on Grinding Gear, I appreciate the "crockpot theories," where the audience just lets the streamer stew in their own juices. What you get might be right, wrong, right for the wrong reasons, or wrong but on the right track... and no matter which way it turns out, it's juicy.
I was not kidding when I said that the post-Stormblood MSQ broke your brain so that Shadowbringers could blow your mind. All of the questions you have WILL be answered sooner or later. After learning their lessons with the HW trailer, there are no major spoilers for any brand-new players to stumble into if they stumble onto it. They won't know who any of these people are nor will they recognize any of these locations.
Welcome to Shadowbringer. Not many catches this even after completing the expansion. FF14 loves to come in full circle. Who did you fight at the beginning of the trailer?
The active theory, imo, is that neither light nor dark must have majority or total dominion. They must balance eachother out. Too much of either is a bad thing.
I've got some catching up to do with your Stormblood streams, but I'm hella excited for you to be getting into Shadowbringers. It is a fantastic expansion. I'll get started catching up tonight. Enjoy sir! As my favorite warrior of light turned to warrior of Darkness would say, "This is where the fun begins!"
The job changes: Archer 1.0 / Warrior 2.0 / Dragoon 3.0 / Monk and Samurai 4.0 / Now Dark knigth Welcome to Shadowbringer!! You are in for a ride now! mwhahahahahahhahaah!
I promised during the stream that I'd watch and like and I did! Jokes aside, it's good-- and interesting to hear your thoughts on it all. Can't wait to watch you experience it. Watching you do 4.5 was also a lot of fun!
Saw you watch this live. Glad to see it again. You're so confused and I felt the same way when watching it before launch. There's so much going on and so much of it is one WTF moment after another.
I got chills everytime I watch this trailer and enjoy the reaction of the first timers on it! Oh man, you're in for a wild journey! Buckle up and enjoy the ride! 😛
Still one of the best trailers ever. Such speculation, such great music, the theories to be weaved kept me going to play through the msq when I started back in 2020.
One of my favorite moments is towards the end when the sword woman stabs down on the WoL and you hear the lyrics, "We faaall! We faaaall! We faaaaaall!" As the WoL goes Dark Knight.
