Hi Maddy! I am so glad I found your video, I have the same issue with my baby as she has a recessed chin. Can you explain a bit more how do you latch her in diagonal? Thanks!
I had to lean back and lay her on me for her to latch. When she got a little bit bigger it was much easier for her to latch. We ended up breastfeeding for 10 months.
Thank you for sharing your experience and what worked for ya'll. I recently spoke with a lactation consultant who walked me through a specific hold to help my son latch better. He has a recessed chin and more chomp than suck (for now, @ 2mnths old). I wasn't having much success, and neither was my son 🙁. I tried holding him upright at a diagonal as you described and he only fussed once and actually fell asleep on my breast for the first time in over a month! I'm so encouraged that I'll still be able to feed my son and share one of the most beautiful times between baby n mama again. God used you to encourage others and I'm particularly grateful 🙌🏻 Keep letting His light shine through you, God bless!
Other than being told by a lactation consultant, would you have known you had an oversupply/forceful letdown? I was watching a different RU-vid video that made me question my breastfeeding issue from my last pregnancy. I was sure I had an under supply since my baby wasn’t gaining enough weight and I can’t feel my letdowns but the “symptoms” that lady listed sounded like my situation. I’d hate to be trying to correct the thing that isn’t the problem and making the actual problem worse.
I rarely had any let down while feeding on other side..maybe just a drip. Also all done at 6 months!! yay i made it! I miss pumping at work and miss feeding him at night...day feeds were always tough for us
Thank you for sharing your journey! I am currently just pumping as I struggled with the angles of breastfeeding and felt like she was never getting enough from me and would tire herself out trying to eat. Did you struggle with angles of breastfeeding at all with any of your daughters?
I had to nurse her at an upright angle in the beginning due to her recessed chin. It’s a struggle the first two months but you just have to push through it. Keep offering the boob because that tells your body to produce more, drink tons of water, and when they are struggling go to a dark room and just go shhh while patting the bottom to relax them and get them to latch. I have to do that when kins has a tough time.
hi i’m experiencing the same thing, anyone noticing everytime i breast feed exclusively my supply drops so i’m having to supplement :/ any tips anyone??
finally found a video that gives me tips about a recessed chin , my baby is 7 days old and I noticed he ha a reccessed chin and its so hard for me to breast feed because his bottom lip wont come out now i know i have to help him and change the position because i keep doing the cradle position and my nipples keep getting cracked so I have to take breaks and just pump and feed which I think hes getting used to the nipple of the bottle. Thank you hopefully this works.
I love how transparent you are about the breast-feeding journey. My little guy would never latch and after a month of pumping we just switched to formula. And to this day even nine months later I wish I was able to breast-feed and experience that with my baby
DMER is the name. All mine had oral ties. With my 4th, I even saw 3 lactation consultants and none checked for a lip-tie and posterior tongue-tie. 🙄He was a pound under birth weight at a month old and tore my nipples. But to them, he had a “good” latch. 🙄
Im currently just pumping and feeding my baby thru bottle. Breastfeeding was tough because i experience very fast let down. On top of that, my nipples are short so I feel my baby finds it hard to latch thru a longer period like how he would with bottle. I tried using a nipple shield as an extension but it was too much work. But now i have stashes of milk supply in my freezer i’ve not touched! Idk what to do with them 😭
Really appreciated the information from your journey. Pregnant with baby number #3 exclusively pumped with my second after her tongue tie revision, my first wouldn’t latch I had flat nipples and it was to difficult as a 1st time mom. I hope I can exclusively breast feed baby #3! I learned from your video to ask right away when baby is born, took 3 days literally the day we went to go home for them to catch it..... I’m sure to know after your nips are bleeding and hurting lol 😂 thanks again for this info! Your truly super mom!
Hi Maddy! Where did you go to get Kins tongue tie released? And did you do body work or any kind of therapy? I'm from San Diego as well and had my baby with a posterior tongue tie evaluated but did not go through with the procedure based on what Dr said. But wanted to ask for reference and options if needed in the future. Thanks!
I tried to breastfeed my older son and he didn't want any part of it. I even expressed my milk and he wouldn't even take it from the bottle. I think my milk was not good or something. When I tried he wouldn't latch on properly and it was tough too because I really don't have nipples. I have large breasts, but have no nipples. Weird huh??? Then I didn't bother to try with my other too.
I only have one baby right now ( a little boy) and my supply stopped after 3 months. If I ever have a second child I’m hoping my supply will last longer. I will definitely use these tips. Thank you for sharing.
I so needed this video. My daughter was just put on reflux medication today at a month old and I know it's from my let down being too fast and too much. She's puking after every feed and half the time it's projectile 😥 I need to learn to do the position your talking about to help her, when I've tried something similar I got freaked out that she couldn't breathe because she was smashing her nose into me 😟 I need something to help though. Also side note; I strongly recommend lacti-cups to every mom! Just by wearing them in my bra I collect anywhere from 4-10oz's a day that would of went to waste in pads. That's how I've been building up my stash since I'm not pumping, I over produce and don't need any additional stimulation for more production. With the stoppers I'm able to wear them to bed and everything. Highly highly highly recommend!!
Some tips for reflux, for position angle her at an upright diagonal position and lean back. The leaning back will help slow down the flow. Also only nurse on one side per feed! Once I started doing that it helped tremendously. Then keep her upright for at least 30min after a feed. Easier said than done because night time we are exhausted and just want to go back to sleep. I noticed around 2 months Kinsley got much better! Ohh those sound amazing! I wish I would have used that! Since I am at four months now my supply has settled I feel like and I no longer leak. That would have been awesome to have in the beginning though!
@@THEMILLERS I just had my 2nd (her brother is 3) and she was puking alot too. After look it up I learned I had an oversupply and read about block feeding where you feed from one side for 4- 6 hours and then switch. It helped even out my supply and she is puking less.
Hey , u mentioned short feedings. Could u guide like how short ? How many minutes? One breast or both ? How did u alternate between breasts? ( have a 2 month old and similar case like urs)
Loved hearing this 👌 how long do you hope to BF for? I'm BF my 18mth old, I never thought I would go past 1 but my views on BF changed so much once I had a baby. It's so beautiful and natural. I'm so glad your BF journey has been better this time around 🥰
I don’t think I have a choice of when to stop lol Kinsley won’t allow that as she won’t drink formula haha. So I most likely will wean her off at 1 yr but will see how it goes lol 🥰
