Pricing used Lego parts on Bricklink. Using the current average price vs 6 month average. What do I use? And why?

I’m really enjoying your Bricklink tutorial videos like this one. I’d love to learn more about wanted lists. Like how to create one, can you have multiple, can you search for sellers specifically with parts on your lists, etc. Keep up the good work, even if it’s early!

Thanks! I will definitely cover the wanted list in upcoming videos. :-) It's easy to set up yet can be complicated when having multiple wanted lists (which I have). Especially since every time I upload parts I have to remember to check to see if I uploaded parts that are on my wanted lists! LOL

Stacy, there's one thing about prices on Bricklink that's been puling me. I've noticed a trend for pieces like hinges that have two halves and pieces like 65426 and 65429 the right and left 2x4 pointed wedge plates where sellers will have both pieces and charge more for one half/piece than the other counterpart to them. Do you do this? And can do you know why sellers do this?

I have no idea why/how this happens, but I've noticed the price difference for the same part (left/right) as well.

I know this is older video but I notice alot of parts the 6 month average is really high like 30cent for a part but there 10 sellers selling it at 1 cent?

I'm never sure how some sellers come up their costs. Most sellers based their costs on the 6 month average (or the current average), but then there are those that are really high or really low.

I like that you have a chart for increasing the price, even if just a little bit. I will say, that the higher up though, you are changing it less and less, as a percentage of the whole. Increasing a 2.6 cent part by half a cent is about 20%, where a 5 dollar and up part is only changing by 2%. Just some thoughts! Another thing I have to evaluate, how I will do pricing! Thanks for the insight!

Oh no... you're one of the math people! LOL Never thought of it as percentages, I just did it that way because it was easy for me to remember. :-) Now I may have to re-evaluate how much I increase the stuff over $1.

@@montanausedbricks Honestly, math is NOT a strong point of mine overall, but certain things do make sense to me.
