So the process our ancestors went through way back when to determine if something was poisonous or not was something like this. You take whatever it is, say a berry. You rub it on your skin, if you don't get a reaction from it then you go and crush it and do the same with the juice/pulp. If you don't get a reaction to that then you touch the juice to your lips, if nothing happens then you taste a drop on your tongue. If nothing happens you can chew one and spit it out. If nothing happens at this point you can probably try eating part of one. And at this point if you arent puking or shitting your brains out and you're still alive, you can probably assume that they aren't toxic to you and you can eat them.
