I'm not saying they are bad clubs by any means. For me, I need to see the new clubs outperform what I currently use. I play the Pro Air balls and before that I played the Pro Plus for 2 years now.
The price is higher than would be expected. They really look beautiful but for the price you can purchase DTC irons that are likely made at the same location for 1/3 or more of the price. I think you may be very surprised by testing out the new Maltby irons... for the price, they are unbelievable value. They are on my radar
Hi James, an idea for a future video... I was chatting to a tour pro at the LIV event in Hong Kong earlier in the year. We were talking about irons and he was explaining why he plays traditional lofts (35* 7-iron) and talked about how the course and conditions take away spin... It might be interesting to see you play some holes on a course with two sets - one with tradtional lofts, one with strong and see what difference it makes out of the rough, off the fairway, wet conditions etc....
Yes you can get them direct to consumer (D to C), but you can also get fitted for them. I was in Club Champion (fitters in the US) yesterday dropping my clubs off to be regripped, and saw them there available to be fitted for
I agree with others in these comments. They would have to come down to takomo prices for me to start to even consider them. I just bought a brand new set of mizuno 923's for sub $1000 fitted to my specs, with kbs shafts and tour pride jumbo grips. I just could never see spending more on something that is unproven and can't even be fit or customized. When they come down to the $500-$600 range, I'll be interested.
You can get fitted. I‘ll have my fitting soon to get them. They look exceptional. The new Mizuno irons don’t. For me Vice is a clear winner and worth the price. Just hope the numbers back that up when I have my fitting.
Unless you're a lefty. The new Maltby players irons look amazing, but none that will work for me unfortunatley. But these Vice irons look ALOT like Sub70 659MB
For a DTC brand that price is hard to swallow even if they look smart. You can get a fitted set of brands like Mizuno/TM/Calloway forged clubs for a similar price. The Takomo options also look just as smart and perform really well at a much cheaper price point for DTC I think the 201/301CBs are comparable at around £650 for same set. Don't really see a place in the market for them to be honest as you can't test them.
I think it needs one year to use them and see how they look after 50 rounds of golf. For this price I would go for a first class supplier. A one day test on the range and 50 shots in the studio mean not really to much. But best of luck for Vice. 😊😊😊
I hit these at Club Champion. I play Srixon ZX5's now and love them. I play at a 5 hcp. I personally was not that impressed enough to change especially at over $1200 with tax and shipping. They do look awesome.

I love the srixon balls assume irons play well. Too bad you didn’t like the vice clubs. They look amazing but for $1200 hard pass
@@andybarger8486 i switched to everything Costco to prove I could play just as well with them as my $3500 fitted set. I was right I still average shooting about a 70 at my club which is exactly what I was shooting with my fitted clubs.
All from the same factory as takomo , and all has the same 01 101 etc names , so yes they should perform similar to the lazarus , caleys takomos, they cost ~200€ per set 3-pw if you order atleast 100 sets
I liked them until I saw the price. I would rather brand name at that price. They remind of the new MacGregor MT Milled Irons, Chrome Satin available on line now
That looks a lot like a Srixon sole. I wonder if they will get sued over that? Maybe since they are charging so much for these, Srixon will be ok with it. Seems like, as long as the price is kept high, you won’t have issues getting sued by a major manufacturer….
I love the Vice balls but they priced their irons out of my consideration zone no matter how good they are. I'll buy either Takomos or Maltbys for half the cost of Vice and be perfectly satisfied.
Why? Because you don’t buy them? That’s awesome! I want a brand that is not everywhere… not the big names. Something I can personalize. Price is fine… If you want a bargain look somewhere else.
James, nice review of the irons. I admit I do like the Vice Pro Plus ball and have been playing it for some decent rounds. My only thought about the irons that are on the higher side of cost is shaft availability. The choices would likely be confusing to many and the availability for store front fittings is limited.
All these golf brands are ridiculous. I’m a mid to high handicap. I will never spend 1k plus on irons. Plus 1k on woods and 3-5 Hundy on a set of wedges. For real used is really the only option, it isn’t that I can’t afford them it’s piss off already. WTH I’m just trying to drink and drive legally for 5 hours or so and enjoy a day in the sun on a manicured course.
Nice sticks! The price doesn't surprise me since the Vice clubs appear to be high quality with premium components. I bought a set of Ping i230s 4-W with up-charge shafts last year and they sent me back $1500 plus tax and shipping.
The Mc Gregor MT mills look as good , forged, cheaper and come in left handed ,guess which ones I’m buying 😁…. Waiting for that review thx ,keep up the great hard work 👍🏽
A lovely looking iron. The price may well be an issue, as there's no chance of testing them. I think the only real way of testing them is to wait for one of your mates to buy them, then ask for a go. 😂
I don’t know why they’re so expensive over there. The irons are 1000$ USD when I looked them up. I’m in Canada. That’s like 300$ less (CAD) than the price James showed.
It is not difficult to find the following around €6-700 brand new: -Mizzy 921 hm -Wilson CB '23 (!) -Rouge ST -Cobra Aerojet -Taylormade stealth - ping g425(!) Good luck selling these for double the price.
Price point is completely wrong for a DTC brand without a big R&D investment and Tour marketing costs. They have done exceptionally well with the balls as they are up to 40% cheaper than the leading competition. The irons are less than 15% cheaper which I do not think is enough to entice the consumer to make the switch. Much better to go for a DTC brand that has a 50% saving like Takomo, Caley etc....Or go for Wilson irons which are much better value at 30% discount to leading brands.
Great looking clubs can’t say a bad thing about the look. Problem is for price I can get clubs as good or better and most even cheaper. They also have that great click sound off the head. They need to be priced $600-$700
High price for DtoC, with the major brands, nobody pays list price and it’s easy to get fitted. These VICE clubs do look amazing, but at that price i would expect easy fitting opportunities, so without that, not for me
They do look good like most direct to consumer brands but how does the average Joe try them? At least when you go for a fitting the pro will put as many brands as they have for you to try. keep them coming mate.
Sub 70 and New Level have been at the higher end of DTC clubs already and Takomo for lefties if you want a 301 set. Be surprised to see these really take off 🤔
While I really enjoy your reviews of clubs, I do wish you would mention about their availability for us lefty;s. Really my only comment for improvement on your reviews
@@VICEGOLF because of the cost of clubs nowadays, quite high. And if in two years time you are only offered £80 to £100 for these because no one’s heard of them, your outlay of a £1000 doesn’t look to good! But by all means send me a set!
I’m happy to be a trendsetter but as you have always said in your other vids “ go and get fitted ! “. As you can’t do that presently the price has to come down
I'd never buy a set of irons without being able to get fitted all the way through the set especially at the moment with prices as they are now It's no good saying if you are in the USA you can try them at Club Champion when you live in the UK Every you tuber including James goes on constantly about getting fitted.... What the message from Vice here really is that the UK market isn't worth bothering about so why should we bother with Vice?
They are simply too much money. I think they look amazing!! I would totally buy them but not at that price! Too many other options now than to spend that
You can hit them at any Club Champion studio in the states! AND we have a full refund policy that allows you to hit the 7-iron and still return if not satisfied within 60 days
@@JamesRobinsonGolf It looks a bit unprofessional and tacky to be honest in my opinion of course.Also you said you have tested them in the studio beforehand but then bring an unopened set of irons to the course.Just bring the whole set in your bag ready to go. Knowone wants to spend time watching you taking wrappers and packaging I'm only saying this as I like your channel and love your reviews just think it would look better that's all fella.
