I spent a whole month thinking about what I would put in the description box, but all I can say is: take care of yourself 💜
Also, maybe grab a drink, a snack and get comfortable, we've got a lot to talk about.

It took me a year to get a little bit "better," but I still feel anxious when I see someone who looks like my manager. Girl, I'm so shocked. The gym thing, the sleepless nights, the feeling of nothing, numbness-I still can't sleep without pills. My inflamed gums and skin problems, going through that for the third time.

In 2020, I wanted to get into med school but got rejected, had a pretty bad break up, lost my friends, was quarantined and had so many health issues because of PCOS syndrome. I spent that whole year mostly in my parents home in my bed crying and watching asmr videos trying to cope. I just didn’t wanted continuing. Life seemed dark and awful and pointless. Now I’m in med school, have moved out, made new friends, had another partner (and broke up again lol), dealing with my health (sometimes it’s good and sometimes not) and I’m in therapy too. I still have times where I spend too much time in bed and just can’t find the means to get up, but i know that it’ll pass. If you feel the same please seek help and know there are people in the world that are willing to take care of you and will love you. You just might not have met them.

You, miss Peters, are a very brave young lady to share with us some of your true feelings in general. I don't think I've burned out to the point of staying in bed specifically, but currently being 21, and without the intention of making this about myself, let's just say that I get tired a lot. There are times where I feel like I should be feeling emotional about something, but I don't. I get very defensive, which backfired for me in the past. I've lost friends I've known for many years because they have changed. I'm usually stuck at home most of the time. My mind has not let go of all the emotional, and in one case, physical abuse our U.S. school system had stuck to me, and no one ever faced any legal consequences for any of them. These are all the things that have left me burnt out. Like you have said at the end, we both need to relax after each task we do at a time. Recently, I've just been cleaning my old video game consoles and other items around the house with Windex, lol. But it provides me with a genuine sense of accomplishment, and keeps me distracted, even if it's for just a small period of time. I assume that, without shoving words into your mouth, that your ASMR channel has given you that same sense as well? Even if it's not the first thought that comes to mind? If so, please continue doing so whenever possible. You now have many, many people who love you, your soft spokenness, and your content. And to think you're a very rare kind of RU-vidr who's 100% genuine with us. Something unfortunately rare on this site now, because most others I've seen have stopped walking in their golden age long ago. So, allow me to not only thank you for being around for us, but allow me to leave my own little bit of advice below, besides the whole RU-vid thing. Keep the ball rolling. Keep being your beautiful self, and God bless you, your family and friends, and everyone else who's helped you grow as a person. My warmest regards, my friend. 🙏

I am coming from your ASMR videos and recently suffered from burnout symptoms in addition to overtraining,, in the first few weeks of having a stressful schedule one really gets euphoric and it feels great being constantly working and up and going, but once it crashes and the body gets to rest for once, one starts to notice HOW exhausted the body really is... Thank you for sharing this, you're such a blessing for this platform 💕

What you have said you went through I can 100% agree with you as I went through such situation in my life (sometimes got even worse moments like literally trying to commit suicide)... I "experienced hell" for 2 years and some of experience kind of still is attached to me but I pretty much fully recovered... Though the memory of going through it is terrible yet feeling strengthened by recovering from it and I am a "male".

I’m listening to this while in my recovery phase of burnout. I can relate the way you tell your burnout stories, because things piling up that make us burnout - too many things happen atst in and out of self, everytime I tryna process my own burnout story in my own words, I forget the chronology bc things happen too much and I dont remember (not paying attention/mindful at those moments bcs of feeling intense and fatigue). It was awful to go through things because as an overachiever, perfectionist I can’t stop thinking to get things done ot at least be productive, but time passes, burnout and recovery make me realize many things that I should pay attention like self care, things that fulfill me, rest time, processing emotions and let it sit, i used to feel numb bcs i have no time to feel it, responsibilities make me fulfill my time with endless works. Many reasons that contribute to my burnout - too much pressure I put on myself, idk my self limit and boundaries, i dont say no, i dont take time to do what fulfills me, i neglect eating/basic needs bcs of work, i dont express my emotions. To anyone who experience burn out and wanna recover, this is my advice ;) (below)
@aisyhere
@aisyhere Месяц назад
1) Self care is important. Eat, exercise, spend time with others, sleep! 2) Process what happened. Process your emotions, process your thoughts. During burnout, you will ruminate and overthink a lot. Challenge negative thoughts, learn emotional regulation, recognize and understand your emotions, process and reflect what happened. Express your emotions, dont keep it in your mind. Let it out. Sit with it, so it will pass instead of amplify because you suppress it. You have to feel the uncomfortable emotions to feel better ;) 3) Do what you love. Read, jogging, coloring whatever it is. 4) Be patient with yourself, time is needed to grieve and heal. Grief makes so much sense, when you understand what youve lost, you will understand why you breakdown hard. Maybe youve lost a dream, take the time to grieve and heal. Be patient, you cannot force things even if you want to. You will be heales, when the time comes. Just go with the flow, be patient, trust the process. You will come back better and stronger. 5) MIndfulness and relaxing. Listen to Quran recitations (even if youre not Muslim, just give it a try, it will calm you by God wills), nature sounds. 6) Learn to build positive self talk. Learn to self soothe and comfort yourself. Be compassionate, you can always choose to blame yourself then feel so worst. Or you can choose to pat and say its okay - you will feel better ;) 7) Do not try to think out of emotions, dont inttelectualize your emotions!! Feel it, express it. My mistake is to jump to finding solutions instead of attend to the emotions, let it sit until it passes. It will burst/numb if you try to distract yourself from feeling it. Give yourself a chance to be humane, feel the emotions. dont jump into finding solutions or self distract with dramas/songs. feel. it. 8) Reflect your purpose and and be present. Dont dwell on the past, dont worry of the future. focus on the now, and you. 9) Learn about surrendering and letting go, and let God. Apply the concept of tawakkul (full reliance on God when putting effort on something but accepting outcomes unconditionally. after we put our effort, leave the rest to God. whatever happens maybe not in the way we imagine, we trust that it happens for our best

Just wanted to leave a comment based on how much I’ve resonated with this. I think my burnout started (really intensely) in November of 2021. It’s now about a year and a half later, and I can relate with just about everything you said. I went from feeling like I was going to die, simultaneously dealing with the thought of having 2 years left of school, managing relationships and so on. I was somebody who kept trying to push, resist, keep going, and tough it out, but I was in a period where I felt so sick and depressed that every single day was a count down until I could go to sleep. It took time, but I can tell you (at least for me), this period of life has completely changed the way that I operate + look at the world. And with all the FOMO with friends, I feel like that I’ve been able to return to previous friendships with much more deepness and connection. There is a lot of gold in these moments, but during them, it doesn’t feel like that. I just know, as I have slowly felt better, there are so many moments and things to go experience that I never appreciated with the deepness that I do now, and that could not have come without the pain and grief of having your world turned upside down. Here’s to healing, to continuing, experiencing, and loving what and who is around us. 🎉

Thank you for sharing this. It's always always helpful to talk about mental health. I'm going to share a bit too but when I was finishing up my bachelor's in 2019, I was already dealing with depression and thought it had gotten worse. Later that year, when I finally went to therapy after I think six years, my therapist said I had burnout and depression at the same time. I knew I needed a lot of time for recovery but felt so guilty for not doing immediately a master's or finding a job. But my body was barely functioning. It took a full year to start getting better, but now I no longer have depression nor burnout and I did well during my master's. Unfortunately I was diagnosed with endometriosis and one of the symptoms is fatigue. When you talked about the dishwasher, it resonated because whenever I do one little activity like that, I get so exhausted, and I also get that exhaustion whenever I have a flare up. I wish good things to you and anyone who is going through difficult times. It really does get better. ❤

Beautiful video. As a 44 yr old American man who dealt with a lot of what is mentioned here in my 20s ...(tho perhaps the context was different, for example, social media wasn't what it was now then, *and never dealt with migraines, I know how horrible those can be*)... all I can say is for anyone dealing with the issues presented here, to keep treading that water, "Hold the Line" like in the Toto song, there is always the potential for a light at the end of the tunnel. And of course follow Fleur's advice about self-care. You may not see the light at the end of the tunnel or even realize you're in a tunnel until the light appears. When where and how that will be no one can say, but when it happens you will know. As a rando RU-vid commenter the only thing I can add is **look for the magic in your life** because it is there. (And if Fleur sees this comment) I'd be interested in knowing how your spirituality operates. Is it dogmatic? Is it personal? If this topic has been covered, link to the video? But, again, great video.

Thank you so much for this video. I am an overthinker, my brain is never quiet, and I ended up having a burnout (and eating disorder, as a way to try to gain control in that situation) in high-school that took me away from my studies for a year (and kept me from further studies for a long while after), and I recognize so much of this from myself too. I am in university now and often find myself stressed, recognizing some signs, but I think one of the best things an experience like this brings is the knowledge and awareness never to let things go that far again, to know when we are pushing too much, to connect with ourselves and what our bodies and minds can and cannot do, and that is so valuable, not to repeat it. Your vulnerability is very appreciated. Wish you well to find a normal that works for you

Hey Fleur, fellow Dutchy here. I really appreciate you sharing this out in the open. I follow your ASMR channel which is how I found this at such an ironic time: I had an appointment with my psychiatrist today and her advice for me right now was to get extended work leave because I'm dealing with a depressive episode and am having burnout symptoms due to my work. This was very informative and made me feel a little less guilty and bad about myself. The section regarding grief was especially eye-opening; I never thought about it like that. Thank you for this. I wish you the very best with your road to recovery!

Ahh, I am definitely seeing like a lot of things you talk about with my life at the moment. Espcially this last couple months. I'm in my 3rd year of doing a game design degree and I only have like 6 weeks left and then its done. And my current goal is to try and simply not fully burn out. The part that doesn't help is I don't want to do this anymore, but not doing it and doing what I want seems rediculous when you don't know what you want is. Espically as like there is the pressure of family's expectation of what you should (don't like that word) and also other piers expections. I probably will stick it just so I have the degree and then take a 180 turn. Next year I'm not doing more study though, I was planning to through most of this year but no. I can't, its not an option to just follow whats expected or what you "should" do. I need to know what I want to do and if that takes a year off to do some fun projects of my own and work part time then that is what I have to do. (Hearing what you say makes me think that I should probably try lower my aims for the next year though) as if (I guess more when) I crash I don't know if having work is going to be good. But I don't want to go back home but I do need a cat which there are two there. Hmm. Not really expecting anyone to read this but just good to write down my thoughts for once instead of just forgetting everything instantly. Also Fleur thanks, just thanks for sharing it does help to hear peoples experiences so I can try and relate what I go through to something more than just random thoughts in my head.

so heartwarming to see you vulnerable, sharing these hard moments and i also feel very grateful because it makes me feel less alone. i didn’t go full burn out but i think i was reaching pretty closely the limit. luckily enough i was enough to put a big stop sign in my life, get some rest etc but it’s still hard on a daily basis to do even simple things, overthinking isn’t helping and because i’m FEELING so many different things i’m exhausted even while doing nothing (which can be demotivating). my family does not really understand my situation and considering my current state, having to explain them and argue and justify myself is welp… quite impossible in terms of energy levels. your asmr channel is my go to, i love your book related videos btw as i’m a big reader too. can’t wait to start the atlas of the heart. you just have this calming energy and you make me feel grounded, thanks for that 🤍 leaving aside the ramble, i am so proud of you for trying to be more in touch with your body and mind cause it’s such a core element, for experiencing all these conflicting emotions but continuing being brave (even tho it’s ok and normal to give up sometimes for a bit), for everything really. recovery is scary but a beautiful experience in some ways too. keep going girl, you got this no matter what ⭐️

Fleur. It is all going to be well. I started watching you from your reading challenge and questionnaire. I wanted to know who you are. Earlier I listened to all vids produced by Cherie Lorraine. You have different styles and characters yet i think you have similar integrity and i think you go through the process of recovery. It is my dream that maybe one day you do a session together and exchange experience. As for myself i am undergoing therapy related to trauma, loss of a nearest one, and the aftermath (guilt, accusations and abandonment by family) my therapist advised i should have a look at asmr because i am extreptionally sensitive to sounds. I am listening to ham radio and Morse code, learning it and sort of hearing the nature around me send all sorts of signals. However i found ASMR a little bit overwhelming, especially role plays or hands extended to caress my chicks, clicking sounds. I discover i fall in love with the therapist and seek contacts. I know this is very bad, a burden by the asmr producers. I will very delicately say ;-) that you are not alone in your struggle for mental well being and if it were difficult for you and you need conversation or help of any kind, i am here for you. I am very impressed with your work I wish you all the best, Fleur.

Im just gonna say my peace, ive only recently just found the Lord God and its the single most greatest thing that has ever happened to me. I was in deep pain for about 4 years, i was tired of being lied to tired of living in pain crying everyday beacuse my own brain and past would eat me alive tired of living in darkness and just generally tired i was over everyone and everything, i could litterally go on all day but alls im trying to say is besides God forgiveness is one of the greatest things one can do for ones self not trying to push selfishness or anything like that on you but seriously forgiving anyone or anything that has gone bad or done bad even forgiving youself for things is honestly the single greatest thing one can do for ones self, having an unoffendable forgiving heart brings such great peace of mind and is so uplifting and enlightening its unimaginable. And again i could go on all day but i just want to share a little in hope it helps you fleur, please head up and stay stong many blessings your way and peace to you !!!!! Much love and light !!!!!

Just by hearing you talk about your stressfull time I got stressed out as well. I cannot imagine how hard this was for you and your body. Thank you for being so brave to share this dark time of yours to help others. You are such a wonderful Person, just by being you without achieving anything or pleasing other people 🧡❤️‍🩹 I just wanna hug you now
