I decided to add a few things to my cargo trailer so now i can hall my Polaris Ranger and have a place to stay on my outdoor adventures. Nothing to fancy, just enough to be very comfortable.
Thanks for the great video. Gives me some direction. I like the heater and the double vents. I’ll be putting in a small chest freezer, a collapsible butchering table and bunk cots when I have the boys. No sink needed for me. Thanks again, nice work
Great set up . I have been thinking about doing a build like this. Was thinking how much I would need a shower. But after seeing this i could do as you have it. Keeping things simple is the key ! Great job !
I have been working on a similar project. A few things you might want to do....switch over to LED lighting for the 12 volt lighting system. For sleeping, I made a set of bunks that fold down from the sides. It uses two twin size bed mattresses, so they can be run as individual bunks. To take up the space in the middle, I simply put a piece of plywood across to cover the gap, and then you can spin the two twin mattresses around and put them together for one big bed so you and the wife can sleep together. Works great, and removes the need for air mattresses. The downside is that it does take up a bit of space on each side. Cabelas has a set of XL bunks that can be stacked or separated. That was the other option I looked at before committing to the install I went with. If you are hauling a ranger or 4 wheeler, check out E track and you will not be disappointed. Great set up! Hope to see some follow on vids on this so I can get more ideas for my set up as well. What I took from yours is : I need to add the dual propane bottle set up to the front, and the screen door idea! Thanks.
rbljackson all of the lighting is LED for the 12volt and the 120 volt. I thought about the bunks but I was worried about fitting the Ranger, angle of the trailer if parked on slope, keep my head up hill. I kept it simple and use a cot. Works fine. Bunks are a great idea especially if there is more than one person to save space.
I didn't see any tie downs for your 'ute, did you cover them?. E track would be good for that, plus you can get pieces that hold a two by four. Two two by fours supports a 6x8 plywood, which supports a mattress. Voila, a bed and it packs up so you can park the atv and tie it down.
I like the cabinets. I just picked up a 7x14 cargo trailer and that is almost exactly how I want to build out the front of it. I was going to point out the crooked duplex outlet... NOT (LOL). I was an electrician also.
Just curious what kind of heater that is (Brand - Style)??? I'm working on one myself and need a good heater to use in the rough winters of Wyoming for hunting.
Honestly I do not remember the brand. I know the btu on it was slightly higher then the square footage of the trailer. You just have to make sure it's a direct vent so it actually vents to the exterior of a trailer. A standard propane heater it's significantly cheaper but it will also pump fumes and moisture into the trailer.
Very nice trailer, I am building a teardrop camper on my channel but if I could get my hands on one of those trailers like yours I will be making the change for sure. New Sub here my friend
Sick set up. Looks well done to me, and I am sure a lot cheaper to diy then buy a toy hauler! Only thing I can think to add would be a carbon dioxide/ smoke detector for safety. Cool rig.
I’m in the process of building one myself but had to go with 8.6ft wide because of the doors on my ranger and I also have a 4 foot v nose so that will give me lots of room behind the counter to put a small vertical water tank and I also like the heater u have I was going to go with electric heater but seeing yours I’m going to go with propane. Where did u get yours from,!!
joe woodchuck the interior lights are all on battery which I have set up to charge off the truck while driving or while the generator is hooked up. I spent a week in it without even hooking up the generator I just don't have a microwave. Seems to work out pretty good.
Just an FYI when using heaters if you use a portable style heater or whatever crack a window or a vent that’s all you have to do, you should anyway because your body creates condensation. Your not going to get poisoned.
Powder River the heater I was using did not require ventilation because it was a direct vent to the exterior but I know what you mean. The trailer actually help heat pretty good I only really use the heater when I came in for the evening then shut it off before I went to bed. I did not experience any condensation on the interior of the trailer but I'm sure if it was more than me in the trailer it probably would have.
Hi, great job. I am curious how well the Ranger fits in there? And how hard is it to get in and out of after driving it in? We just bought a 2020 Ranger 1000 base model and are thinking of doing the same thing. Thanks!
Steven Morris the only pipe that actually is exposed to the exterior is the drain to the sink it just goes a couple inches below the floor and is cut off I did not install Plumbing because of that reason. I used the 5-gallon jugs with a spout sat right on the edge of the sink. I did have it set up for a pump but never actually installed it.
I actually had a battery Co / smoke in the trailer I did run the heater for about 8 hours while I was not using it and had no issues according to this c o meter
