My channel was hacked last week and this was the process that I followed to get it back. The first form I filled out was this one: support.google...

As soon as I saw the livestream, I checked which channel it was and there were no videos, however, there were playlist names. Then I figured out it was yours, the first thing that I did and people should be doing is: reporting the video or livestream that the hackers uploaded. When you press "report" there are options why are you reporting. There is an option called "OTHER". This is your time to help. So I wrote: This channel is hacked It belongs to "MODERN MILLIE". I believe this can be helpful especially when you care about a creator and you want to contribute to bringing their channel back☺

Soo happy that you got your channel back and everything was solve in no time🥳 I discoved that something was wrong with your account by accident and I really hoped that I just cliked the wrong account😅 I then send an email to your team that confirmed my worries P.s. that fact that you put the option on your web site to send email was very helpfull to get true information about the situation😊

I was surprised when the channel was pushing ethereum and was live that at the time on my subbed page it was still listed as Modern Millie. Usually when a channel gets hacked, I have no idea which channel it is and just hope they come back soon. One guy had his channel hacked and perpetually live for maybe a week, so it was getting tempting to unsub just to get rid of the random crap on my sub page and resub once I started to think, "Hey, I haven't heard from this person in a while..." It's scary how often this happens these days. That and algorithm-based false strikes. So often I'm seeing people get strikes for no reason but RU-vid's tech just messing up.

Thank you for listening to my comment and making the video. You are honestly lucky they couldn’t delete all of your content. That’s happened to others. But now I’d like to know what you put in the first form and exactly how/why RU-vid terminated your account so quickly? Was it so many reports to them per so many subscribers?

Hi!! I think when the hackers got access to my account a lot of people were reporting my videos and the lives to try and alert RU-vid something was going on. Plus the hackers were violating community guidelines so that didn't help!

glad you got it sorted and it was just an annoyance instead of total disaster...also a reminder for people who are asking you for help in recovering their channel lol dont trust anyone who says they will help with that...thats also almost always a scam also lol .....all you can really do is be prepared with good backups and good passwords and like backup/recovery codes for accounts and whatnot...hackers normally dont even "target" people neither sometimes but thats gonna be someone who has money money normally in crypto and the hacker is gonna sim swap you...most the time its just mass automated recon then throwing darts at the wall type attacks and see what sticks ...another thing tho is your a LOT easier to hack the more public info you give out which is tough when your a content creator

As a cybersecurity advisor, you’re lucky that you had a team that handled things so quickly. Yes, multi-factor authentication is crucial but also have a more advanced email protection in place that catches phishing emails. Perhaps an identity management tool would be useful here as well. Glad you’re back up and running.

My google account has been hacked a few days ago. I don't have access to my yout7be channel and my Gmail. The hacjers have changed password changed recovery phone and everything. They even started uploading videos, but after I reported it youtube has removed it. The thing is I still haven't got access to my Gmail and YT. Any advice?

I think having backups is great! I know that for some creators it isn’t feasible and having one account to grow can be a lot of work. I’m grateful for the support of my subscribers and RU-vid and am grateful that everything worked out! ☺️

Girl, we have over 100k subscribers and we just got hacked on April 1,2024. Thank you for that bit that you shared at timestamp 11:33. We were able to change our channel name back, it worked. This video was so helpful because we got our channel back in a day and a half. Thank you so much and hopefully this doesn't happen again.

It baffles me how people thought you really did that to your channel. 😅 Scammers keep doing it because people are falling for it, even though we're constantly warned by so many entities. Tbh, I've been waiting for this video. I knew your channel was hacked as soon as I tried to access a video I wanted to go back and watch, but couldn't because it was made private and "Modern Millie" didn't show up in search results. Then seeing the name change to "Ethereum" was a dead giveaway. Maybe it's because I'm professionally in the IT security space and I understand the financial markets well above average. 🤷🏾‍♂ But outstanding job to you and your team for getting things back on track so calmly and quickly. I've seen much worse from other creators that panicked. Side note: I prefer these low/no edit videos over the fancy ones. 💯✨💎

Im actually surprised yt didn't pick it up sooner. I recently unlisted over 300 videos on my channel myself because they didn't aline with my niche and as I was doing so I had to confirm it was me with my two factor identification process as it must of ticked of something on their system to say something up with my account.

So glad you managed to get it back. Its so scary, 4 years ago i logged in to my personal email at work and I am still facing consequences of it. Personalty theft, my details were on some companies payroll and i am still trying to claim tax back, someone recently named me a driver of a vehicle i dont know that was involved in 5 offences. Just HORRIBLE .

I didn't because my bank details didn't match the details or the person that got it. Seems never ending but deffo a lesson learnt !!

I understand the gutted feeling too when my account was hacked too that I couldn't access my blog admin page, since then I did the neccessary things to ensure it will not happen and thanks for sharing your experience on how you and your team handled it.

Glad you were able to get it back so quickly! There is another RU-vidr I follow that got hacked at the very same time by the same hacker. She has NOT been able to get her channel back yet. Everything from hers is gone. I keep hoping for the best, especially since you got yours back so quickly!
