you guys need to listen to "helena" by my chemical romance! is like their 2º biggest song after black parade, i know you guys are gonna love it so much
I would not be angry at all if you reacted to the entire album. The Black Parade is a concept album, and good to hear in its entirety, but whatever you do, I'm down lol
Saw them in concert last year and they were amazing. Gerard Way does a lot if other stuff also. The series Umbrella Academy is based on comics by him. The queen reference is amusing as I do hear many refer to this song as the 00’s bohemian rhapsody… totally agree with that
YAY Finally! I was hoping you would react to them. Not enough people do MCR reactions. My husband thinks it's weird that I love reaction videos so much but I don't get to experience my favorite songs for the first time anymore and I feel like I get to relive that feeling through you all with these videos. Love it. Can't wait for you to do more.
There MIGHT be another album soon 👀 they did a song in 2022!! They're one of my favorite bands after green day ("queen day"🤣) and this is one of my fav songs!!
I am pretty sure the band would be happy with the term Queen Day. They took many influences from Queen and were kind of friends with Green Day. If you want something more modern from them, listen to Foundations of Decay. They released it WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE ahead of the release, right before starting a reunion tour in 2022. I thought for a while that a new album would follow. Doesn't seem like it now.
Fun fact, this album also came out around the same time as American Idiot and both albums were produced by the same guy. Also, the lead is a true artist and has taken on other projects outside of music, which is dope.
This was the peak of their career, and arguably the peak of emo before it started disappearing from the radio. MCR were the band who popularized emo, they were kind of the face of it (even though they hated that lol). They came back with a single in 2022 and did a massive tour. No one knows if they'll ever drop an album or not.
It definitely sounds like "Queen Day". Gonna see them play this album in the fall and I'm excited. It's a great concept album The guitar harmonics on this song are so flawless and add a nice subtle layer to the song. This song is a masterpiece all around.
It’s 2024 and they are indeed back, but only one song has been released and that was 2022. They wanted to tour in 2020, but covid happened. Gerard is also a comic book writer and his comic was Umbrella Academy on Netflix.
They did other projects, and Ray Toro released a track after the tragic suicide of a trans kid (For the Lost and Brave). It wasn't meant to be that way, it was still a work in progress, but he felt something needed to be said, and he mastered it, complete with all the flaws.
Yeah, the lead singer, Gerard Way, was struggling HORRIFICALLY with alcholism and addiction when they were a constantly recording and touring band. So much so that I think he nearly died at one point. But as someone said above, once he stepped back from the band, he and I think the rest of them went onto other really cool projects. It's sad for us, I had a lot of this coming out in my late teens/early 20s, but in comparison to how many rock artists died young, this is actually a really happy story 😊
I hope you react to more or them. Black Parade is probably their best work since it was a concept album and many of the songs just really hit you in the gut. Personally fell in love with them from their 3 Cheers album which was a little more chaotic, but Helena is still one of their best songs IMO
This has a special place in my heart I love my chemical romance they are amazing they have their own sounds - they are a band still active not a nothing band. There are rumours of a new album so fingers crossed
What you need to do now is listen to the entirety of The Black Parade album, which this song obviously is a single from. It is generally regarded as one of the best albums of the 2000s. It is a concept album about a person who dies from cancer and their journey into the afterlife. If you liked this song, imagine a full album full of songs on this level. The album is produced by Rob Cavallo so yeah the Queen Day comparison is pretty accurate pfft. All songs are ansolute bangers but my most favorite songs from it are Mama, The End+Dead! and This is How I Disappear. Their previous album "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" is very very good as well, though not as grand and epic.
You are both men of a "certain age" and as a woman of a "certain age" I am really gobsmacked that neither one of you have ever heard of MCR! Like how? Honest question ⁉️
Pls don't misunderstand! Much like Green Day, they were on radio rotation so I was just curious. I'm so glad I found your channel through this reaction. Binging now.💜
Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato AND MCR now?!?! I’m an elder emo and grew up on them in the early 2000s. Men after my music-heart ⚡️ always enjoy the videos!
