WAH GWAAN LITJAM MASSIVE!
Today’s video is very special and close to Avri’s heart. We came back to her father’s house, Avri’s childhood home (or yaad as they say in Jamaica) and saw her humble beginnings in Port Antonio. Avri has since moved to New York with her mother and sister, but her father still lives back home. We came to visit him after long overdue time. Simas meeting him for the first time was a lot of fun, but now it’s time to remember our roots that we always talk about! Jamaica is a paradise for tourists but it’s a slightly different reality for the locals. Portland is thankfully a very safe parish and the locals are proud to always stress that, especially in Likkle Portie! Avri’s father built this house all on his own, top to bottom: the kitchen, the bedrooms, the veranda, the dining room, the living room, everything. He’s a chef so he loves to cook there (stay tuned for his true Jamaican cooking!) but for now, this is Avri’s childhood house and a tour of humble beginnings in Port Antonio, Jamaica 🇯🇲 this is true country Jamaica, not the town or city. This is the yaad, only with a small downtown and most people come to do their business there but go home to their country homes after.
