Cool fact when Jim pulled the table cloth all the items were supposed to go with the cloth it did not so Jim improvised and came back into the shot knocked every to the floor then went off to the side again. I forgot were I saw it on you tube but credit to them and nice portrait good job who ever sent it and I am glade you liked the film.

The Grinch is such an underated movie... Imagine being rejected your whole life. Made fun of. The joke of the town. And still.. have the heart to make the Christmas the best they ever had.

I didn't realize for years that the narrator in the beginning is Anthony Hopkins. The same guy that played Hannibal "the Cannibal" Lector from Silence of the Lambs. Superfluous : unnecessary or being more than enough. She's essentially saying they're overdoing it with the presents. Also the "holiday get together" party when the baby grinch was in the tree was actually a swinger's party. They slipped some adult jokes in that kids wouldn't get.

Fun fact, the director told Jim to just be Jim and gave him very little direction in a lot of this movie. The director just told the camera crew to just fill Jim running around and do what he does best. Like the part when the Grinch was trying on cloths, the director told Jim, "Here, have some fun" and just filmed him.

Having the movie take place in a snowflake is a genius reincorporation of Horton Hears A Who and I just now realized it. Whos lived in speck sized dust particles in that story so it makes since snowflake-whos would love christmas

I remember seeing this in the movie theater. It was the same year I graduated high school. Good family flick.

I love this movie. Jim Carrey is a consummate ham (overactor), and it really worked with the role. I remember hearing somewhere that he felt destined to be The Grinch, and was very happy to have landed the role. The whole expanding upon why The Grinch is the way he is really made the movie something special. You start off thinking he's a jerk, but once you get the full story, you start feeling bad for him. Sure, he turned into a jerk, but he'd been bullied just for being different. Hard not to feel bad for him. And it took a long time to get Jim into the costume and makeup. Hours. So during the last bits of filming, much of the cast, including the director, got set up in the same makeup before Jim, and while he was getting ready, they walked in to show that they'd gone through the same process for him. And as big a jerk as the Grinch was, he was honest about it. The mayor was a douchenozzle who pretended to be a decent person. Nice to people that kissed up to him, but showed nothing but barely disguised contempt for anyone that didn't.

My favorite Christmas movie, such a fun experience watching along with you. Side note the little boy who played Young Grinch passed away not to long after the movie released. When jim Carrey Pulled the table cloth off the table it was a outtake, the original shot was suppose to be when he pulled the cloth everything was suppose to fall all over the place so the outtake then became Jim running back into the shot and knocking everything over.

When Cindy is interviewing who's she gets told that the Grinch showed up at their yearly swinger party. That's why they were putting their keys into a fishbowl.

I like how you kept noticing how the Grinch is "built different" lol. there's a theory about why. like.. the old ladies that he went to came from a Christmas party where people put their keys in a jar, right? and how are babies made here? vague dna gathering from tiny pixies or something? what if they took from ALL the people at the party that night {because what did they DO at that party where they put all their keys in a jar...huh?} so yeah the theory is basically that he's an amalgamation who. he's however many who's were at that party combined into one. that's why he's so powerful, and also why he's so ugly. also why he's so smart, why he can _constantly_ withstand concussions, eat glass, design rocket ships in a cave, steal christmas, etc.
