Aloha all! We are Alexus and Michi, an LGBT international couple and PhD students at the University of Hawaii at Manoa in Oahu, Hawaii, USA. In this video, Alexus shares a deeply personal and emotional story of how she came out to her sisters, parents, and family. She describes when and how she first knew she was gay, and why she was so scared to come out as a lesbian. From the challenges she faced to the incredible support she received, she takes you through the transformative moments that shaped her journey. During Pride Month 2023, we aim to raise awareness of lesbian couples, celebrate LGBTQ+ diversity in academia, and emphasize the power of coming out stories.
