Great comparison!!! Bought a PB1000 for 450 via BB. It hits hard and sounds great but as you duly stated...it is BIG! I have an RSL on pre-order and was my first choice but figured I would give the SVS a listen in the meantime. Hope I get the RSL soon! Thanks again!!!

Excellent objective comparison. The Speedwoofer 10s is the best bang for the buck in subwoofers! I really want one, but hate to have to wait for months to get one when I can get a SVS subwoofer in less than a week. Also,I believe the Speedwoofer has a more powerful amp in it. That is why it really kicks.

Thanks. I think both have merit but SVS has hiked their prices far more than anyone else. You will pay $500 for an outlet PB1000 now. At that price it's value comes up short against the competition.
@Cujobob
@Cujobob 2 года назад
The power of the amplifier is something you should just throw out of your mind when looking at subs, to be honest. The efficiency of the driver(s) determines how much power is necessary. Amplifier power only matters if the drivers were equally sensitive.

I would love to get a speedwoofer 10s but here in Australia it just costs to much to import one vs getting a pb1000 delivered to my door for about $350 less. I'm sure I would be happy with either though as this will be my first ever "proper" subwoofer. Thank you for sharing your experience on these subs

We definitely are spoiled for choice here in the US. If I lived elsewhere the SVS would probably be my top choice since it's more cost effective. Definitely not a bad option. I still own both.

I am still confused by the settings in the SVS app for the PB1000. When you say you need to boost the volume, do you mean you do it in the main volume section (and what is yours set at there?) or in the room gain setting (and what does that read for you?).
@jesterscorner879
@jesterscorner879 Год назад
I have the older regular pb1000 which doesn't have the app control. I just turned up the gain on the back of my sub to about 70-75% of max.

@@jesterscorner879 ah okay. I played around with both settings in mine to get enough bass for the room. Indeed the regular settings didn’t give it enough presence. Thanks.

@jesterscorner879
@jesterscorner879 Год назад
Data and claims by individuals support the SVS going deeper, but I haven't seen any significant differences between the two in that respect. If you can find an outlet/blemish sale on the regular SVS PB1000 for $350-$400 then it would probably be worth it. If it's running $500, then I would go with the Speedwoofer. Also keep in mind they now have the Speedwoofer 10s MK2 which has a little more power and range than it's predecessor.

Same as when I did the video. Slight edge to the SVS for range, but a moderate advantage to the speedwoofer for hitting harder at a lower volume. I still would pick the speedwoofer over the SVS.
@aegisofhonor
@aegisofhonor Год назад
from several sources I have watched and read about, you really can't go wrong with either, they are both fantastic subs that are going to work wonders. That being said, I think RSL has a very slight edge in value and performance, but it's not by much and no one should be too unhappy with getting the SVS either way. You could certainly due far worse then either sub, especially subs from other companies like Klipch which always seems to come up short on their lower and mid range model subs (I know of at least 3 people personally that have bought Klipch subs at Best Buy cause of like Black Friday sales, and despite their low price, they said they were disappointed and wish they splurged on a better sub for a few hundred more).
@jesterscorner879
@jesterscorner879 Год назад
Very well put. If someone finds an SVS on a good outlet sale, I can't fault them for it. Either one is a much better option than a Klipsch for sure.

@jesterscorner879
@jesterscorner879 Год назад
If space is no concern, I would go with the 12s. The monolith subs are great but RSL literally puts everything into giving you the best sub for your budget and has better warranty and customer support. Monoliths also tend to sacrifice mid bass performance, while the speedwoofer will give you full range.

How about the SVS SB3000?
@jesterscorner879
@jesterscorner879 2 года назад
Sealed box subs will always have a disadvantage in the dB department compared to ported subs. So it really depends on the application (ie music vs movies). Personally though I still say for that kind of money you could do better.

@jesterscorner879
@jesterscorner879 2 года назад
For it's footprint it is a good sub, but for the price you can definitely do better in terms of dB/performance. The HSU Reasearch VTF3-MK5 is about $100 less and IMHO a much better overall value. SVS' latest price hikes have put them in a position where they are only a good deal if you hit a good outlet sale.

Thanks for the honest opinion. We all have to decide on sound quality for our taste an in our listening room. I own a SVS 12” sealed sub in a two-channel stereo rig for music only I got for $399 in a Christmas Sale, brand new from warehouse. It works well and was easy to integrate w/tower speakers. But I wouldn’t have bought it at a higher price. I feel the RSL Speedwoofer 10S is a better Value for the money. That’s why they are usually sold out. I would consider the Hsu subs at comparable price point also, and the Emotiva Flex Sub w/passive radiator. It seems SVS has dominated the subwoofer market recent years. And for good reason. They make a solid product & have excellent customer service in my experience. BUT, they’re not the only sub out there. There are several competitors worth looking in to if considering a quality subwoofer that is worth the cost. I’m almost certain my next sub will be the Speedwoofer. New version scheduled for release in mid-March. Upgraded in several areas. A slightly higher price w/upgrade model, the RSL Speedwoofer 10SMKII. It still seems the better buy for $450 or so to me. Good review, 👍🏼😎

I have a pb3000 (had 2 sold 1) and my jbl 550p destroys it in the midrange bass, the svs is useless for anything over 20hz. Below 20hz it destroys a lot of subs out there. It shakes the entire house. It really digs low and SLAMS hard but I can’t wait to get rid of it. Midrange bass doesn’t exist. It sucks for music and almost all movies. Waiting on my back order Rsl 10s mk2 let’s see how that goes. Agree on 7:54

Honestly I have no idea. Personally I am not a fan of Polk Subs as every single one I have heard sounds muddy/distorted. Specs don't mean much but 200 watts RMS and a bottom end of 28HZ sure doesn't sound impressive for a $500 sub.

Honestly a 10" sub is just too small for the space it's being used in....a 12" or maybe even a 15" would be much better suited for your application...the PB-1000 Pro would have been a good starting point, but the PB-2000 Pro is probably where you'll really notice a big change in the listening experience.
@jesterscorner879
@jesterscorner879 2 года назад
The problem is that with my size space even with a 12 - 15 inch sub I would still likely need duals to truly take advantage of what the sub has to offer and dual PB2000s is more than double the cost of what I currently have. In the 20-80HZ range my combo of the RSL Speedwoofer 10s and SVS PB1000 do a great job even in my large open area.
@slimjim1104
@slimjim1104 Год назад
Where you have to turn the dial in the gain has to do with gain structure. The RSL runs hotter in the gain. If you arent level matching your findings are incorrect. Expecting a 10 inch driver or anything in this price range to be some kind of IMAX experience is silly. Also the svs is 5 year warranty bumper to bumper. Rsl only covers 2 years on the amp. That's shitty.
@jesterscorner879
@jesterscorner879 Год назад
I don't think I ever claimed that either of these delivered an IMAX experience. You are correct that the amp doesn't have as long of a warranty. Either way I still prefer the speedwoofer 10s to the pb1000 in terms of how it sounds and feels in my setup.
