@@AwesomeUSMovies Marisa Tomei went on to become one of the top actresses since this movie was released (it was her first movie). You will see her again in future reactions.
@@xcellent-records It was not her first movie. She was in the 1991 movie Oscar with Sylvester Stallone as a significant supporting character. Great movie too!!! (No matter what anyone else says!) She was in a movie called Playing For Keeps in 1986. It's a forgotten movie, low rated, but I like it as well, I just don't love it as I do Oscar. She was also in the 1984 movie The Flamingo Kid.
Fun fact. Though license was taken for comedic effect, this movie is quoted by lawyers as one of the best portrayals of trial law. Some professors even use it as an example for law students.
Love your laughter in this one, James! Makes it even funnier for the viewer! Of course, I'm sure I laughed similarly the first time I saw this great movie. Every member of the cast was great in this one!
Fred Gwynne was the actor who played the judge. He is best known as Herman Munster on the '60s TV show "The Munsters." Lane Smith, the prosecuting attorney, is an actor that I've always liked. If you ever get around to The Mighty Ducks, he's the win-at-all-costs coach of the Ducks' main rivals, the Hawks. Sadly, Lane Smith passed away due to ALS in 2005.
@@AwesomeUSMovies I watched reruns on Nick at Nite when I was a kid, but I don't remember that many episodes. It was before my time, too (I grew up as a child of the '90s).
@@AwesomeUSMovies The Munsters was "before" my time too :P But I know it cause as a kid I used to watch Nickelodeon's "Nick at Night" all of the time lol.
Watched Munsters reruns in the 60s and 70s as a kid and loved every episode. Gwynn was previously in a cop series, "Car 54, Where Are You?" with Grandpa Munster, Al Lewis, as his partner. Both played funny men throughout.
This channel feels so authentic. You really don't know anything about any of the movies you've watched and I love that. Recently discovered your channel and I am hooked! Hopefully you decide to go to 3 uploads a week. I'm looking forward to A Few Good Men!
Hi James! 30:05 - The reason Vinny could sleep in prison during a riot, is because THAT is the type of noise he was used to sleeping with. Being from New York, it was the "sounds of the country life" that bothered him the most. He wasn't used to those kinds of sounds. While the prison riot was "just like home" to him. 31:23 - Heh. The judge overruled the objection, because it was obvious that Vinny knew something was coming, because of the "well thought out" objection. Hilarious, isn't it? The chemistry between Pesci and Tomei (pronounced Toe-May) is off the charts in this movie. They had such a great dynamic. You can tell that they both have that "New Yawkah" accent perfectly. Also, Fred Gwynn is most notable for playing Herman Munster in the TV series "The Munsters" back in the 1960s. The show was very popular with both adults and children back in the 1970s, as well.
You called it on the positraction! Marissa Tomei (Prounced TOW-MAY) is an incredible, Academy Award winning actress and Joe Pesci is also a fantastic actor, probably best known for his role in Goodfellas. Great reaction!!!!
As a Brooklynite born and bred, and someone whose sister attended the school with Marisa Tomei, I can testify this is pure, good-old-fashioned Brooklyn-talk.
This movie is about BROOKLYN. 😎Four of the actors are from Brooklyn (...including Pesci.) There are even inside Brooklyn jokes, like him sleeping in the jail from the noise...in NYC you hear sirens ALL the time! When I moved to Dallas I MISSED it!😳Marisa is playing the pretty Italian girls I dated and knew from Brooklyn 'back in the day'. I MISS that accent VERY much! She is ON point with EVERYTHING. For this she won an Oscar for her very first movie.
You’re the only person I’ve seen call the entire case cracking plot without realizing it. When you explained the car stuck in the mud I was like “OK, he’s gonna catch it in the courtroom”.
This movie and *12 Angry Men* (1954) are used as examples in law schools. One for trial function and one for jury function. 12 Angry Men is also used as an example of excellent film making in film schools.
the two boys riding bikes on the square got their roles just because they were there. they were playing when they were setting up to film and were asked if they wanted to be in a film
I had to stop my to do list of things to watch this reaction as I knew you’d crack me up with your reactions. Like I said yesterday, this is my favorite comedy and I knew you would find it hysterical, you didn’t disappoint. I so enjoy rewatching these great movies through new eyes. Your reactions are very genuine and makes your videos more enjoyable than others. I’m not in a financial position to join your patreon, but I will continue to support your RU-vid channel.
You are simply the best reaction channel on RU-vid! BY FAR! And I have watched them all while recovering from an injury. Your reactions are real and sincere. You make me laugh with these movies all over again. You got me blubbering all over again with movies that are emotional. You are a regular guy but you are not afraid to show emotions and every reaction is heartfelt and honest. You're not looking at your phone or ruining the movie by over thinking it and talking for an hour and a half. You seem like a very kind and honest person who is probably a great neighbor, father, son or brother. And thank God you stay completely away from making political comments. I can't wait for your next reaction my friend! ✌
@@AwesomeUSMovies Sorry. I corrected it above. I can't remember which movie it was but you got emotional and that got me tearing up as well. LOL You would love Good Will Hunting by the way. It had some of the best acting in it. I remember now. It was your reaction to Planes Trains and Automobiles 🚘 🤣 It was when you saw Neil Page (Steve Martin) find Del Griffith (John Candy) still waiting by himself in the train station because he didn't have a home. You are the best my friend.
I saw this as a special on TV with all the F-bombs taken out and thought, "My grandmother would love this." She was a huge fan of courtroom drama and comedy. So I rented it, shrugged at the R-rating and sat there cringing for two hours as my grandmother watched it. However, even with the F-bombs she still loved it and especially the judge who she recognized from The Munsters. This is one of my favorite comedies.
@@AwesomeUSMovies"The Munsters" while from the 60's was "the first family of fright" and was so called because they were on air before "The Adams Family" as well(both great shows) and it was before my time as well (born in 1977)… I love the show so much that I have the complete 2 season + 2 movie DVD box set 😉😉
Hey brother, when you "KEY" out your "green screen", or your "blue screen" before you "key" Out a color... Select the "screen color" and make it "Darker". Then "Key" the bacround.
This is one of the funniest movies ever, and so quotable. Rumor is that the guy who eats the chicken on one bite got in the movie because the director saw him do that.
This may be my favorite of yours so far. No limit, no control on the laughing. It's like a board game where every square you land you laugh maniacally and I am there to witness every square. This is what good reaction videos are about, bravo!
Marissa Toe-May. Very versatile actress and quite skilled in multiple accents, although Hollywood troped her and mainly had her do latino/New York accents.
Here are some great suggestions in various genres that you will not regret!! Overboard (1987), While You Were Sleeping (1995), Return to Me (2000), Pelican Brief (1993), Runaway Jury (2003), Get Smart (2008), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 (2014) and Vol 2 (2017), A Beautiful Mind (2001), Master and Commander (2003), Double Jeopardy (1999), and National Treasure (2004).
Deer are also technically the #1 deadliest animal in the U.S. due to all the fatal car crashes they cause. So I agree, the population needs to be controlled and I respect responsible hunters for helping with that. I just hope for all the dear to have good lives free in the wild and when their time comes it's as quick and painless as possible and all their meat is used for food.
Have you ever thought about doing a video about your favorite books? Would love to hear from someone that read for entertainment for that long! Plus maybe some have been adapted to film and we could recommend the good ones!
You need to watch Joe Pesci in Goodfellas, one of the three or four best mobster movies ever made. And everybody likes Marisa Tomei (Toe-May)...She won an Oscar for this role.
@@AwesomeUSMovies look up the "Laughing Chewbacca Mask Lady" video it's HILARIOUS! 🤣❤ On your own, OR...a reaction would be cool too? 😁 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y3yRv5Jg5TI.html It's 4:04 minutes My family (especially my kids😂) absolutely LOVE your laugh and great spirit 😇 All the best to you and yours ✌️
This is a great comedy movie another one starring Joe Pesci is The Super which is nearly as funny as My Cousin Vinny. The Super kinda flips this movie instead of Joe being a lawyer hes a corrupt landlord who is forced to move into one of his ghetto apartments and the comedy comes from his interactions with the mainly African American tenants.
The Sheriff is played by actor Bruce McGill. He was D-Day in "Animal House" the guy who rode the motorcycle in the house. He later starred in the TV show "Rizzoli & Isles". He is a great actor and has been in dozens of movies and TV shows.
That actor who was the automotive expert, James Rebhorn, was also Mr. Trask, the school headmaster, in "Scent of a Woman". He was also the district attorney during the trial in the "Seinfeld" finale.
ALSO! Awesome and congrats. TWO PEOPLE! We should start a bingo/pool on how many years of this channel it will take before you know a dozen names in a movie :D
Have you watched a book movie yet? It would be cool to see you react to a movie of one of your favorite books. The new Dune movie would be a good choice.
@@AwesomeUSMovies I just figured that you've read it. But put it on the list if it's not there already. Pretty solid. Not a diss, but do you even know what a slow movie is like? haha I didn't find it slow but I can maybe see why some people would say that. Still, pick a movie that they made a book out of. JK...pick one of your favorite books that they made into a movie. It would be a nice change to pick your own movie
Best reaction to this movie so far and I've seen a few of them. Marisa is hilarious in this role and accurately portrays your typical Italian woman from New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut at that time. One of the funniest things about this movie is her going on about her biological clock yet in real life Marisa is actually against marriage
Fred Gwynne, the actor playing the judge was famous for his role in the 60's comedy "The Munsters", before this, he starred in another sitcom "Car 54 Where are you?" starring two bungling NY police officers. One of his "Car 54" costars, Al Lewis joined the "Munsters" cast as vampire Grandpa Munster. He also starred in feature films "Cotton Club", and Stephen King's "Pet Semetary", he was also an accomplished artist and had several gallery openings. The problem was, fans were always attending his premieres wanted to hear him do his Hermann Munster character with the infamous bellowing laugh. This annoyed him because he was a serious artist and it was difficult to shed the character.
I knew you'd love this movie! I'm sure it's already on your list but, just in case it's not, you'll also want to watch Liar Liar with Jim Carrey. It's another hilarious legal comedy with Carrey playing a sleazy lawyer who finds himself unable to lie.
@@AwesomeUSMovies Yeah, You could skip that one and go into Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014). I noticed now that you've done some MCU - and I've seen them... Funny... Anyway - you will need to watch all Toby Maguire Spider-mans and Garfield ones before the latest one... Just so you know.
