Watching your videos, I’m sure everyone has got the sense of the exceptional work ethic you have. You are passionate and are truly really working for the the greater good. This video, however, showed me how persevering you truly are... you had SO many hurdles that would have been too overwhelming for some (speaking for me) BUT still, you remained resilient. Thank you for making things so personable and appearing so human. It makes me want to push forward and better myself to continue pushing myself, I can’t express my gratitude. And I thought, me doing AmeriCorps for a year was financially rough and demanding... 😭 GIVE THIS GIRL SOME MORE LOVE!
I am so glad that you persevered and are helping to influence kids in your classroom. I wish that California would wake up and see what people have to go through to become a teacher. Enjoy your week, Maya.
Man, I just don’t think I worked hard enough as a teacher when I see these videos and hear your dedication and perseverance. I loved it, I loved teaching, but I just never found my niche I guess. God bless you! You’re in my prayers. We need more educators like you ❤️
This is sooooo inspiring! I’m having a really difficult time right now working full time & getting through my Bachelor’s. My goal is also to save enough to make it through student teaching! I am exhausted but trying to stay motivated and strong! Thank you for the video ❤️❤️❤️
You seem like a very influencing, positive, and kind teacher. I’d absolutely love to have you as a teacher. I’m in 4th grade and all my teacher does is yell and punish us.. she yells if we whisper one little word. Our class hasn’t had recess in 2 months because someone whispered. We get to go to the bathroom once a day, and get water once.. unless you bring a water bottle. She has caused me to be diagnosed with major anxiety and severe depression. Now I take medicine everyday because of it. And the worst part is she won’t let us talk to the principal or counselors about it. I get headaches Every. Single. Day! I had to quit piano lessons because they were right after school and my head would hurt so bad. That totally crushed my dreams of being a pianist. Not to mention that I’m a straight A student ( not to brag, that’s not nice ) and I get punished for stuff that I didn’t do. It’s sad.
Wow you go girl! I’m not even close to uni but you are such an inspiration and SOO ambitious! I love your channel! I really hope you can do more lifestyle videos!
Really love the fact that you are majoring in Liberal Arts because that is the path I have chosen! I look forward to becoming an elementary teacher & watching your videos are a big help in giving me an idea of what to expect in my near future. Keep them coming!
awwww, so nice you were here - I am from Prague and I love your videos!!! I am a mom to triplets and I love to do a homeschooling with them in a future (besides that I am also pursuing my PhD. so I will teach uni-degree students, yaaaaay!). I just love teaching and your channel is full of great ideas and positivity. Sending you so much love from the Czech Republic!!!! EDIT: I am sooo sorry I didnt know you back then...Next time you come to Prague, just let me know 🧡
I really what to know about your undergrad experience, I’m in undergrad right now just taking standard courses till I decided what I want to major in. I think I would like to teach but I’m not sure yet
Maya! Can you do a video on substitute teaching? I'm planning to start in the next few weeks but I'm getting sooo much anxiety about it! Need someone to talk me through what it's like and give me advice!
Hiii Maya!! I am binging on your videos!!😂😃❤ These videos are soooo awesome! I esp love the Christian life videos and the teaching videos!! Here's a question for you!! In the US, I was wondering if you can tell us if we can OBSERVE for a day, BEFORE we go on the journey of doing the academic work to become a teacher, like even before the CBEST!!! **** Is there a way we can ask a credentialed teacher and school principal if we can OBSERVE for a full day? I'm very interested in doing the teacher credential program, as I already have a bachelor's degree, but I would feel much more confident about committing to a credential program if I could just observe what it's like to be a teacher for a day. To ACTUALLY be IN the classroom with 25-30 kids. Is that something schools permit? I would hate to go through all the exams and the program, and then do the student teaching, only to realize that what I was imagining was just wishful thinking or a fantasy that sounded good in my head...Thanks so much in advance if you can reply!!❤😃🙏
Maya, your videos are everything to me! I want to thank you! Can I ask, because teachers have summers and winters off, what do you do to ensure your routines are still on par and do you work during breaks? Do teachers still get money during breaks or do you have side jobs? Thank you again :)
You made it because you really did strive to earn it. I'm gonna have to watch this once more just to piece this all together. You underestimate your ability to structure/restructure, plan and keep to all of your plans because of the goal you had in sight.
Omg! How did you apply/end up teaching abroad! I’ve never even thought about it until watching you talk about it even though you were homesick. I am applying for my credential program for the fall and would love to look into teaching abroad as well
Wow, Maya. You are a strong, dedicate woman! Our teacher education programs are so much simpler than what you have to do. In Australia, you complete a four-year education degree. In four years I only had 4 elective subjects, all the rest were required, and were primary teaching specific. Each year we complete some time in classrooms. Each year increases the expectation and ends with full control for a minimum of three weeks. At my uni all our professional experience time was outside of the semester, so I never had to do uni work while on placement. They definitely cared for us very well in the way the course was structured. I had to take time off work, but the most I ever had at once was 5 weeks.
Inspired by your channel I have started my RU-vid channel. Being science teacher I felt I can reach students of this globe through my channel. Through my channel students can access to the notes and lectures of science topics. Thank u for motivation
Will you be talking about the necessary certification tests you had to take and how you felt about them? I only ask because I currently trying to get my certification in early education and am struggling, I’m working as a teacher assistant while I’m trying to pass my certification tests.
Aww, Maya... Thank you so much for sharing your story... I was so moved watching this vlog! You worked so hard, girl! You inspire me to never give up..the world needs more people like you! So proud of you!❤
Honestly Maya, I do not how you had that schedule. It just shows how you are such a responsible being, and this translates into your teaching practice as well! I also LOVED teaching abroad and miss it :( But cannot wait to teach in my own state like you this upcoming school year. You never fail to impress me with your energy and you will always be my role model!!
Thank you so much for all of your insight! I just started student teaching and am feeling so nervous whenever I’m there! But watching your videos give me peace of mind and confidence that I can do it! Thank you for your positivity, honesty, and trust in the Lord! 😊💕
is your student teaching is not included in your undergrad curriculum? 'cause here in the Philippines, in my school I had my student teaching for 400 hours only. Before I can graduate and have my degree I need to finish my student teaching for 400 hours 😊
I am currently in the period of student teaching too. It was tough bc I have to work from 7.30-4.30 and continue to class from 6-9 pm. But I'm happy anytime I see my students. You video really make me feel like I'm not the only person in the world who have to work so hard for the teaching career. A big luv from Bangkok ❤️
Wow! I thought trying to juggle two jobs was bad! My student teaching starts next year. In South Dakota we have a year long residency so luckily at least 1 of my jobs (weekends exclusively) to kind of just get it done. Cost of living is less and my parents help with my phone so that is always nice. :) I wish I had Sundays off so I could go to Church but at the moment it just not feasible. I also work 3-6pm at a daycare MWF too and it takes up most of my dads with full load of classes. I don't know if I will get off in time to keep that job or have to find another job to replace it.
I am so grateful for your channel!! I’m about to start the credential program in 2 weeks at CSUF and I am SOOO NERVOUS, your channel has helped me get excited and ease my nerves 😌
Hello! Maya I am a mother of 2 beautiful children, I work full time and my dream is to become a TK teacher. After watching Your video, I got so disappointed!!😢😢 . There's no way I can resign my job and do the student teaching for 4 months. I need my health insurance! Only God can help me!!
I’m in high school right now and I’m thinking of becoming a teacher. Do you have any tips or job ideas for high school students that are similar to that of a teacher ? I work at a summer camp over the summer and I really enjoyed talking with the kids. But I want to do more. If you have any ideas that would help me see if teaching if right for me, it would be much appreciated. 😌💕
