That last story sounds like something that happened to my dad we were all in the car driving and over the wall of a back garden we were going past a snowball came down and hit the windshield luckily nothing bad happened but my dad immediately went reverse back to the wall and started yelling at them... I’m in London and it’s usually cold for most of the year ,well mainly rain even in summer but I’m pretty sure that Canada is much worse when it’s cold
