I had Peruvian ancestry show up on my CRI Genetics test and couldn’t figure out why it showed up. I thought maybe it just was covering from Mexico on down. Recently I was able to trace a Spanish Conquistador ancestor down to Peru where he married into Incan royalty. I was shocked that I found the connection. I would never have searched if I hadn’t done a CRI Genetics test. Thanks for sharing your story.
I got the CRI kit for my Daughter and. It said she had some Indian in her. I took Ancestry my son took 23&me same thing we had some Indian. CRI had the tribe. I'm from Syracuse NY we live in SC. She told me the tribes were Onondaga Seneca , Cayuga. Syracuse is in Onondaga county I told her. They have a reservation there. CRI nailed it. They go way back to.
CRI Genetics told me that they didn't have that technology so they always used Colombian, Peruvian, Mexican and Puerto Rican for anyone with amerindian dna.
CRI is a scam. Most all of their “results” are similar to every one else! Also, the REFUSED to send ME my RAW DATA!! Why? Because all this is a scam, and does NOT correlate with the others tests that I have taken!!!!
I'm still waiting for my cri report. I took a My Heritage DNA test and I got English 53% Azores Islands Portugal 26.4 % Irish Scottish Welsh 8.9 % Scandinavian 7.6 % East European 4.1 %.
The ancestry from India could be attributed to the nomadic Scythian/Saka of the steppe lands. They ruled areas from Hungary all the way to the Tuva region just north of Mongolia over 2,000 years ago. My understanding is that once “their rule” was over in those areas they made their way south and ruled areas that are now India, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.
We have very similar ancestry with the ad mix American and Asian. I discovered several Scottish were prisoners of war in the Caribbean (West Indies) and married people. They were then sent to the upper and lower south. I was told many of us were told we had Native American, and we do, just Caribbean (Taino) and not a tribe we had heard of. I did discover baptism records in Barbados for one ancestor.
Wow! Thanks for sharing that info. I have Native American ancestors in my tree, but I still don't know how Taino got in the mx. You may be onto something relevant. If so, maybe it will come to light in my family research someday.
Ancestry is a big culprit when it comes to ignoring DNA. They had me with 1% SE Asian for two years and then they just removed it. 23andMe, MyHeritage and GEDmatch still show it. There are other things available in the raw data file too, like paternal haplotypes. The info is there (for men), they just don't tell you. I don't understand why they would even bother checked yDNA SNPs if they aren't going to show it in the results.
I know! Right? That's like the dingy yellows and blues on Ancestry's DNA matches maps, that I made videos about a few years ago. I noticed that some of the yellows and blues looked dingy when compared to the regular yellow and blue, which meant I shared those other ethnicity groups with those matches, but Ancestry had it listed as 0%. That let me know that Ancestry has a backdoor of our real deeper ethnicity that doesn't show in our actual reports, but somehow they are letting it "show" on the maps. I found that to be so weird and interesting. Why don't they just go ahead and show the REAL smaller stuff and charge a little extra for that info, if money is their true issue. If it's database space or program issues, then find another way to display the results and connect matches that doesn't use so much space or cause big drag times on the site. They've got plenty of smart people working for them and I just don't see how they can keep using the database and drag time as an issue. If they can have these backdoors that show dingy colors on a map, they should have no problem straight-up showing us our complete results. I think, they are waiting on something. Maybe they want to re-use/re-hash all this obvious crap and package it as "new" that people foolishly are happy seeing, before they slowly leak out the truth. Maybe when most people have taken the tests and there's nothing new to do with DNA info from the last 150 years, they might roll out the deeper stuff (that people who really want to know had to take other DNA tests to find out the truth on) and "shock" the, supposed, 100% British/Tennessee Settlers with some of that real 10% Spanish or African that they never knew they had. It's just too ridiculous for them not to go ahead and open up the truth. I'm just really annoyed that they refuse to do it as of yet. They may shock me, but I don't see it happening any time soon.
South Asian is not the same as Middle Eastern. The Middle Eastern region back then took over regions like India and were known as the Mughal Empire where majority are now apart of Pakistan. But the Europeans/British empire took over India until the 1940s. Also, further back, India was a huge part of the spice and gold trade so lots of different european countries took over the borders of India near the water. Which makes sense why more of your heritage is along the borders.

Yes, except that the African doesn't show up in this test, but it does show up on GEDmatch and other sites. Also, the percentages vary and some stuff might be clumped together under one umbrella name on some of the GEDmatch models, such as Native American. However, on the more ancient models of GEDmatch, the terms Artic, Siberian, and Meso American might be used. So, it depends on the model you run your kit under.

Recent ancestry is more accurate 1700s closer this way if your grandma was Canadian french,so this way your dna results would be 25 percent France, I believe this algorithm pick up true segments of certain region and ethnicities,you might have Spanish or Portuguese from early 1800s to 1700s,I've done 8 dna companies learned alot spent alot of hours to figuring out tools to better my abilities,8cm to10cm for me is a couple of my ancestors who where at least partners born around 1750,I found out I had many portuguese dna matches that are 100 percent portuguese,so I do believe in hidden gems
Sometimes the CRI Genetics distant ancestry is more accurate. I know of 2 Black American s that are 50 ish percent African recent and advanced around 8O something percent African . 23 and ancestry had them at 8O ish African so their Distant was more accurate.
@@dawudj2286 their trying to look at certain segments like even 11cm which .2 if go back any further before 1700s the segments are less then 3 cm and then less then 1 cm so to me it's makes sense only working on segments that are .1 and more which would be the early 1700s .2 mid 1700s,I've looked at the 22 autosomal chromosome browser many times so I can guess now how to properly guage an algorithm that is more accurate
Thanks for replying. As it turns out, thanks to this DNA test and it's timeline, I have discovered one of my distant 100% Toscani Italian ancestors and one distant 100% Gujarati Indian ancestor. This particular Italian ancestor was listed in the 13 generation mark (ended up being my 11th great grandparent). The particular Indian ancestor was listed at 8 generation mark (ended up being my 8th great grandparent). So, their timeline isn't far off. I have closer 100% of these ethnicity groups in my timeline (from the 4 to 5 generation mark), that I haven't found yet, but this is what I have found of those so far. I am sooooooooo glad I took this test. It is really helping me! When I find out some more, I'm going to make another video of the findings.
@@dawudj2286 I agree. I just found out some ancestors that I would not have found or made the connections had I not take this test. There is A LOT of truth in the distant DNA findings and timeline of this company. So glad I took this test.
I think if you're from the South ( stretching back to 16 and 1700s) and didn't have any.. or many, SUPER RICH plantation owners... YOU'RE GONNA HAVE AFRICAN. 23&ME gave me Egyptian, Levant/Arabian, West African and broadly sub Saharan African. I do have cousins on ancestry ( that have higher percentages) that show a little bit of everything ( African/ North African, Indigenous American/Asian, Western Asian and Iberian.. Melungeon ancestry!! my ancestors are mainly from Virginia and the Carolinas. I can't wait to try this test though. My cousin and the matches we share show Punjabi as well ( yet I don't show that). Ftdna for haplogroups is better. If I find someone with a direct male or female line from a common ancestor.. YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE the North African/ Mediterranean/Middle Eastern, West African, Iberian and Native American haplogroups. For instance.. I have a few surnames in question and also my brick walls. When I see a cousin who shares a 3rd or 5th grandparent ( male or female) and they had a male or female directly down to them ( WITH NO BREAK) I can accurately say.. Yes, I do have Native american and African ancestry.
That's a good question, Dwanda. Probably your best bet would be to take screen shots of each section of the tree and then print out the images that way. Because otherwise, when you right click on your mouse and try to print, it prints one blank page, except for the header and footer. At least that's how it acts with me. Unless someone contacts the company and sees what they say. I wonder why the company doesn't have a button that says Print Tree, or something like that? Kind of odd. It wouldn't hurt them to have a Pedigree style of tree too, to make the appearance look better and make it easier to look at and locate ancestors.
@@odetomy thank you for responding. I have tried the screenshot way. Of course then I end up with a puzzle. I asked their customer service but the instructions did not work. I have read about other programs that will print from 23 site. I will check them out. I did import the 23 family tree to Family Search. Do you know if the tree in Family Search can be printed? @@dwandascott3947 Yes. There is a print button in the Options tab. But......no matter which way you go, it turns out bad. When I tried pedigree, it only printed to the 4th great grandparent. The other ways weren't any better, except the Fan chart. Just make sure you pick "size to print area" in your printer's options. Also make sure to have a magnifying glass, so you can see all the names, once it prints out. Of course, you could just right click on your tree page and print whatever is on the screen, but they won't be any better than screenshots. I think, these companies haven't put much thought into people being able to print this stuff off and have it look good. Or maybe they don't really want people to, because they think they might lose money somehow. I noticed even AncestryDNA won't let you print past the 2nd great grandparents. If you want to print any more than that, they want to charge you and offer different options for printing out a book, calendar, poster, etc. It's probably a good idea if you want to spend the money, but not good if you don't.

They do also sell your results in a hard copy book format. However it is not clear if the family tree is part of the book. I will let you know what I come up with. I am working on my genealogy and am putting together a multi-generational family album. I am end up just transferring the data to a family tree building website. It took a couple days to put in all the names. I am trying to avoid another do over of data entry. Again thank you for you timely and thoughtful response. You are a jewel.
our percentages are different but we match place for place. All the east asian is from Lima Peru. Asians migrated to Peru in the late 19th centry and early 20th centry. All the iberian, can be found in most all south american people that are not native. 13.6% is your total of admixed, iberian and east asian so you can call that all Hispanic or Latino. Mine totaled up to 15% but all from the same places.
That's interesting. I'd like to find out more about the Asian migrations to Peru. I know I have Native American ancestors and have wondered if that Asian part could actually be ancient Asian ancestors who came over to America after the first few waves of ancient migration and that DNA is still considered Asian. But..... if it's Asian DNA that's more recent and I could find actual Asian ancestors, who might have mated with the Native Americans, along with some of the Iberians, I might be able to add them to my family tree and climb on back. Because my Native American ancestors stop around the 6th and 7th great grandparent mark, because there's no more information about their indigenous ancestors. And I was thinking that some of the Spanish/Iberian I'm finding might be mixed in with the Italian ancestors from way back. But there's got to be more ways I'm getting it for me to have as much as I have. Thanks for your response. It's given me some ideas to check into.

Also, once your results come in you can upload your raw DNA from those companies and run your DNA kit numbers against mine on GEDmatch.com. Quite a few of my dad's ancestors and some of my mom's ancestors came from Tennessee. I bet there is a connection there.

And then we have people who are racist's....... I'm black and i just ordered mine today. My grandfather was a white Irishman with my same last name "Higgins". His original surname was "O'Higgun". I was born in Jamaica. Plus i have Asian in my anceatry too who still look Asian in my family today. I CAN'T WAIT TO SPIT IN THAT CUP ! Its gonna be funny as hell to see my results. I travel alot. But i made a promise to myself that wherever my background is, i'm gonna go there to visit. Got a pocket full of money. Just waiting on this Covid shit to end. Its been almost 2 years now and i haven't done any vacation travelling yet. I've got money in my vacation bank account sitting there collecting intrest.

A lot of South American and Middle American Native Americans migrated north up into Alabama, Georgia, Texas, etc. Then, some mated with other Natives coming in from the north (some were Inuit and some were Asians that crossed over in one of the migrating waves from Asia, I think). That's the best I can come up with because of what I learned in history and what I've heard through other means. I do descend from Cherokee and other long ago Native tribes that were in Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, Mississippi, Georgia, etc. I descend from the Colbert chiefs and from Chief Attakullakulla.
When I hear Native America the first thing that goes through my mind is 20,000 years ago Siberian Russians, and Asians crossed the Bering Strait to the new land called, Canada, America, Mexico, Central America, and South America. Throughout the centuries many different tribes interbred with other tribes and when the Europeans came to the Americas more interbreeding took place. I'm 4.2 % Siberian Russian, and Asian. I never called myself- "Native American."

If I had to guess, I think, it's Taino because when I run my DNA kit on GEDmatch it matched other Taino tribe members and ancient Native American remains who had ties to the Taino tribe.
