I don't know why unibody cars with rust underneath are so intimidating, but plenty of people deal with it in Mustangs, Camaros, Chargers, Novas, Cougars and dozens more.

I'm not typically the type of guy to "fanboy" over humans. I'm just a few years older than your Dad. But you 2 are my favorite. You are so inspiring and your fathers love for you is palatable through the screen. Of all the folks I follow you 2 one of the few that I think we would get along so well. I do hope someday after I buy a new house and get settled that I could come up for some type of "open house" thing (I would never just show up). I have ideas I would love to share on pushing your business and YT to new levels. You guys deserve a much larger audience.

The wide body is awsome i like the fact that its 4 door widebody but could always find another 4 door to build no matter what you pick next i know its gonna be amazing

That old envelope was what the license plate came in, probably when it was first tagged and registered. Here in NC the envelope for license plates still look like that minus the discoloration from the age.

I would check out that 4k one. I usually try to find original paint cars because there’s nothing hiding. Looks like it might be original. Get a walk around video walk around by the owner on that. The Cali one though. If it’s a Cali car, they have way less rust usually

If you are looking for a one of a kind build after this one. My friend has a 1936 Packard 120 convertible that run's, drives but need's floor and trunk pan's. The body and frame are solid. The flathead 8 has been rebuilt and has only been driven in and out of the shop a few times. $20k and you can own it.

I'm so glad that you decided to leave this car as it is! I could see doing this to a beater that as you say is rusted all over underneath and is on its way to becoming scrap metal. But these convertibles in nice solid condition are too valuable to do anything other then Factory OEM Restoration IMO.

There is a lot of metal on these beauties, any tiny imperfection shows more on dark cars so my first thought would be a lighter color. I loved Elvis’ gold 1960 caddy. Pictures will never capture that cars stunning beauty. My vote is gold, but some king of modern take on it. Have fun with the process and feel better soon Brad.

Owning a 61 hardtop and a 62 Conv. You guys should switch to a caddy. Yes you can build any body To make it cool. But you still have Lincoln gremlins. Take spare tire out and remove the cover to see the six relays. That only work the back door windows. Two heater cores one in each front fender behind removable fender tub. All vacuum controlled. With plastic fittings that fall apart. Don’t forget the power steering pump behind the front pulley and then there’s the top relays . Fun to work on. Caddy’s are easier to build and have a frame. Food for thought. Cheers.

I saw a 62 Lincoln in the off white color in Arvada Colorado for 24k looks nice but not sure if that's too much in cost. I would like to see the rebuild in Black, Silver or Deep Blue. Put a diesel in it just because it is different, or like Brad said a J2Z.

I can feel the frustration with this project through the screen. I would 100% vote on the last gloss black one you showed us. I didn’t see the underside of it but if it’s as good as you’re making me believe then I think it’s clear, depending on price that’s the one for you.

That last Lincoln located in LA looked great!

For a resto mod I would go deep gold Orange on gold rims with chrome and brush silver trim and a burnt copper interior

For the rendered version I would go with black, white, carbon, gun metal grey, really bold.! like a futuristic stormtrooper

Brad, he last car looked pretty good. Although, we haven’t seen the underside. Also, on the wheels. There was a company, I think in Detroit. That make sick replica Lincoln wheels in sick wider look. I think it was called Detroit wheels. But I’m not sure. I personally think nothing looks better on these old Lincoln’s than the oem larger custom wheels. Good luck on the search gents.

Should do a custom widebody 1960-1970s Station Wagon! Big motor, super charged, titanium exhaust, suspension, wheels, restomod interior and then build/design your own wide body kit , rear wing, front bumper & defuser etc!

Just a thought for color.. what about gun metal with black and carbon fiber accents? Possibly Carbon fiber barreled wheels.. something you never see on a Lincoln. Wouldn’t see why the rust on quarter panels and fenders would be a problem. Being those are gonna be cut off and out for a widebody.

I would say for the rims and tires and paint first of all the rims I would have like a solid rim with white walls and maybe for the paint to tone it to separate the top from the bottom and corporate into the wide-body scheme just my opinion

If one of the biggest reasons for finding a hard top for the wing. Have you guys ever thought to have the soft top custom mad to incorporate the wing into it? Just a thought. I think it could work.

Personally, ever since you’ve got the Lincoln, I have agreed with your father Brad. I would have redone that car original. I know what’s in your head as far as what you’d like to do with it and yes, I think that would be amazing to do with a hardtop, but you guys have an excellent shape convertible and I think the possibility of putting a fair amount of cash in your account comes with doing that car original

Go look at the continental from detroit steel wheel Co, the D Town smoothie wheels look great on those Lincolnshire, they also built that car so they might have a car u can buy..

I think it would be cool if you made the wheels a one off like the og hubcaps but out of billet wide year and whatever you need up front

I would keep the convertible, and by the $4000 one just for the roof, and mod it to be a removable hard top. The convertible unibody will be more robust, because they couldn't rely on the hard top for structure. (Typically why convertibles are heavier than their hard top counterparts)

Wheels ideal old school spoke but in the new inner dish wide Tyers depend on the size of the wheel arch go with the factory size so it's ment to look stock but on fatty inner dish that's where the wow comes in just a thort

My Step Dad has owned a Body shop in Ohio for 30+ years, has been in Magazines, etc. Ive worked along side him on & off for i'd say 10 years & in my opinion i'd with Car 1 from what i seen to be honest.

i would go the 4k go for the framerails and go the fab route .. get some help to get It done faster or if you can get the panels ... between 4k and 30k its a pretty oke gab to spend some money also it will be easier to mount the motor and newer stuff a nice build series would be nice going all step by step also if you keep the second car for your dad you can compare the two

Get the black Cali car stripe the interior out cut the floor out completely from trunk lid to the fire wall then drop the front out and then drop it on a crown Vic chassy and weld it in

Instead of sandblasting the bottom , try dry ice blasting it instead . This way you won’t get sand in all the structural holes . If you are interested having that done let me know .

Car 5 sounds like your best bet!

I would keep the one you have until you have a replacement of equal or better quality. I would have to put eyes on whatever I was considering as a replacement. Nothing beats seeing it in person as you undoubtedly know. Considering how many you've looked at and for how long you've been looking you may already have the best Lincoln in your garage. It sounds like you have some kind of deadline as well. With all this in mind I would think I would explore as many possibilities to create your own hardtop. It could be metal or fiberglass or carbon fiber. I heard you mention it would be thousands to make the top but considering all the other obstacles like a deadline and all the work that you would have to invest in a rusty car it may be worth the money and time. I work for one of the big national auto auctions so I will ask around and see if anyone has any leads I might pass on to you. Best of luck in whatever you decide. ☮️

You should go a completely different route like a 60s Chrysler Imperial nobody ever customizes an imperial and there are so many custom Lincolns

never been a huge ford man, buuuut i had no idea thems was unibody cars, i actually had a 72 lincoln, and i was sure it was a frame body construction.

Keep the convertible and forget about a widebody... Resto mod it.

Could have looked cool to just cut of the guards and pump them out for the wide body to make the same sort of body lines to fix the haters of the boxy shape

You’ll find the right one just takes time me personally on the color air body paint everything black I get so old and as well as read I think Cadillac should be painted champagne gives it richness like Cadillac supposed to be back in it’s time

If you can get one that the body is good on for low price have a custom chassis built for it for the price of a rust free one would it save you time in the long run

Those old lincolns were very prone to rust. Even the ones in New Mexico or Arizona or even West Texas, where it is so dry, they rust. Growing up, my dad had an auto body shop, and someone brought in one of those big lincoln's to paint and repair, and my dad said no. And this was in the late seventies. Do they make replacement panels for those cars I don't know.

You have the Lincoln in the shop already. It is your Lincoln do what you want. You went and found it. And it is in a good condition. 👍

You should re do. Drive it around let your dad enjoy it. Then sale it at Mecum car auction and get some cash to do your next car.

Paint it glossy white with a purple or blue shine
