What is your own top thing about Denmark? Let me know ❤️

Cant reply - Im not as well versed as you, but ive visited 5 continents and at least 25 capitols. And I can hands down say there isnt a top thing. I kinda have to go umbrella and just say that the best thing about denmark is being here. edit; Oh I found one. I absolutely love that were serious in our attempts at going green..

Oddly enough, I like parts of the concept Jante Loven/Law of Jante, A concept observed and first described by a other expat long a go. What I like is it don`t just apply to me, but also bosses. You are not special or better then the rest. Well maybe it`s not odd, just so unspoken, but since it`s still a concept most understand must be a lot of people like it that way. Wiki You're not to think you are anything special. You're not to think you are as good as we are. You're not to think you are smarter than we are. You're not to imagine yourself better than we are. You're not to think you know more than we do. You're not to think you are more important than we are. You're not to think you are good at anything. You're not to laugh at us. You're not to think anyone cares about you. You're not to think you can teach us anything. The Law of Jante (YAN-tuh, Danish: Janteloven [ˈjæntəˌlɔwˀən, -lɒwˀ-])[note 1] is a code of conduct[1] originating in fiction and now used colloquially to denote a social attitude of disapproval towards expressions of individuality and personal success.[2] Created by the Danish-Norwegian author Aksel Sandemose, it has also come to represent the egalitarian nature of Nordic countries.[3] The "Law" was first formulated as ten rules in Sandemose's satirical novel A Fugitive Crosses His Tracks (En flyktning krysser sitt spor, 1933), but the attitudes themselves are older.[4] Sandemose portrays the fictional small Danish town of Jante, modelled upon his native town Nykøbing Mors in the 1930s where nobody was anonymous, a feature of life typical of small towns.[5]

I wanted to point out that in other big cities like Aalborg you can leave your bag outside the supermarket and no one will try to steal it. Back in 2006 when I used to live there my family and I never locked the door to our house when ever we leave, I don't even remember locking my bike or having a lock for it either, it's not as safe anymore but still pretty safe. It's also kinda funny how the news are desperate to cover any criminal activity for their programs since it rarely happens

Many of these are more about living in Copenhagen than living in Denmark. But I agree with many of them. Nice to get a foreigners point of view on living here. :)

Knowing society will help you, if the shit hits the fan. And that the water is so clean in Copenhagen harbor, that you can not only swim in it, but also catch fish that you can actually eat..

As a dane;There no reason to even talk about happiness. We have everything. The saying; money isnt everything" and "you cant buy happiness" is absolutely true. Wealth isnt a matter of what you have. Its a matter of what you dont miss/need. if you dont need anything, you have it all.. And then theres more time to persue the things that matters to you, the things that makes you happy. The danish system is in many ways the american dream with a twist, and put on steroids..
@MarioScianHQ
@MarioScianHQ 9 месяцев назад
The point of time is super important, agree - then on wealth agree, though for many of us we want more things, have more “needs” 😀

Hey Mario. Love your videos. My wife is from Estonia too and my kids (3 and 5 years old) speak both danish and estonian. We are looking for other estonian speaking kids in CPH, so if your kids also speak estonian and you want to hook up for a playdate on a legeplads let me know :-)

LOL-- This is another thing I love. Theres not this fear of strangers. - We might be reserved and not so comfortable with talking to strangers. It can be hard to break the ice. But theres no "stranger-danger" here, and it often is simply a matter of breaking the ice. And a public playground is defo not a dangerous place. 🎭

Does your wife take the kids to the Eesti Kool? I don't speak Estonian myself, I'm the one doing the Spanish playdates 😀

Hello Mario thank you for your videos, Is there a list about banks and minimum down payments that they require foreigners to purchase a house in Denmark? I asked Jyske Bank and they told me 40% Thank you

There are no formal rules as far as I know
@argantyr5154
@argantyr5154 9 месяцев назад
@@MarioScianHQ There is no formal rule, and I´m pretty sure the "foreigners" part also depends on how long time you have lived in Denmark, I believe (again not sure) there is a difference if you are refugee that have been here a Year or two or if you have Moved here to study / Got Married, and lived here for 10+ Years. What I am trying to say is It would make sense to me, that the longer you have stayed the less it will have impact the amount required.

Are you really sure about the swimming point? As far as I've seen in CPH, swimming is not allowed in places where the boats are (which there are plenty), unless there is a special swimming place set up. Or maybe I'm just not familiar with the city enough and made an assumption by a few signs.
@MarioScianHQ
@MarioScianHQ 9 месяцев назад
Officially you can only swim at the designated points, in practice you can always jump if you do it quick - but my point is that it’s incredible that you can do that in the middle of the city regardless
@mikeyb2932
@mikeyb2932 9 месяцев назад
@MarioScianHQ yeah, to me it seemed more like you were making a point of the cleanliness of the water in the canals and harbour, as opposed to the legality of jumping in everywhere :)

Sorry, but as an honest Dane, I must admit that "hygge" is a Norwegian Word, but they never really found the meaning it, when searching all over for illegal alcohol (When entering a small community shop in Norway, the first you will find is the shelf with essences to make different kinds of tasty liqueur! Though Norway is a much less drinking country than Denmark! Maybe they buy most of their alcohol in Denmark and takes it home on ferries?). But we like them anyway, as we mostly understand what they say!

We cant do much about the weather...which by the way is super lovely.... What beats clean air and clean water?? The taxes... well most of us pay it without much fuss because we know, see, experience what we are getting for our money.. Its a very transparent system... Not a lot of public funds disappear into wrong pockets.
