All the homies along the way definitely make it great. At first my reaction was like “nah, not going to get anywhere stopping to talk all the time”, but in a way that’s the point of traveling and even life on the day to day routine of whatever, to keep moving and balance it out with the right amount of spontaneous interactions and connections/ conversation. Has inspired me to take time to converse a little more.

As a guy who road his bicycle from Washington to Virginia, I relish in your story, Chad. I hope you can pump up and down the hills of Virginia. There’s more elevation gain and loss in that one state alone than the rest of the route combined!! That includes crossing the continental divide seven times! Virginia is hilly AF. I'm sorry man I'm as big an advocate for skating and minimalism as anyone BUT... I really don't see why you don't just put the new set of wheels *that you're carrying anyway* onto your board and save weight off your back, piece of mind on hills, whatever little efficiency that comes from the new wheels, etc. Makes no sense just to be able to say "I did it on one pair of wheels". Earnestly, nobody cares about that. lol keep it up brother!

Chad COMING from downhill skateboarding, Taking a look at your wheels , the plan is solid. Theres terrific chances of the wheels holding up another week b4 you really feel as if you rather switch to the second set.

Change them bro. Otherwise A: You carried the spare set for nothing. B: You risk hurting yourself and potentially other road users. Look at it as making sure your vehicle is road legal 🙏

Change the wheels, think about it from a past perspective. If you fall and seriously injure yourself will it be that worth it? If they last what does that actually benefit than if you changed them? Your safe passage during the trip is the number one priority. And let me tell you, appalachia will be nothing but sketchy hill bombs.

There's gonna be real terrain if you are going through the Blue Ridge mountains. It's so beautiful. It's probably in my top 5 rides on the motorcycle.
