Thankyou so much for this talk. I am disabled and user of a powered wheelchair and I bump in many people who are obsessed in curing me. I find this such a medieval mindset. I am perfectly happy with myself.

A person in a wheelchair being approached by an "Expert" who's not disabled, thinking: "Now, how's this one going to explain anything to me about being bound to a wheelchair?"

I have a daughter with an incurable disability. Once we visited a church that had a relic of saint Francis with my grandmother and when I told her that my prayer was not for a cure but for continued health and happiness, my grandmother got angry at me and said "well I asked for a cure" 🙄

I am so sorry she got angry with you. My son is on the autism spectrum. I don't ask God for a cure, but I ask Him to keep my son safe, to help him reach his full potential, and to help him live his best life always. Sometimes that's the best we can hope for as parents of children with disabilities, to help them live their life to the fullest and adapt.

I fell in a coma in September 2005 after a car accident at the age of 19. I was an athlete. I awoke to be diagnosed a quadriplegic with no chance of recovery. I stood within a month. I returned to college 7 months later. But I read about neurological issues by myself, I read about how to strengthen my body through thought, I read how to never give up on myself. It took me 14 and a half years, so April 2020 to finally respect myself again in terms of who I used to be.

I know this is old andi hope your well, but from what reading here, if given the opportunity to be healed like your accident never happened, through advanced genetic therapy like CRISPR CAS9 or something along those lines, you'd turn it down?

@@limabravo6065 yes, I'd turn down any healing technique driven by technology. I'm a human being so I will stick with the natural

How saying it's like a bad thing to have a cure for disabilities and they are like some "blessing" or " good thing"... No they're not! He can speak for himself don't act like he's speaking for tbe rest of us disabled with this cult like mantra and brainwashing

The closed captions really need to be cleaned up. For example, disabled RU-vidr Jessica Kellgren-Fozard's name is only possible to understand if you know it already.

i knew with a last name of Bukowski this guy may have some good ideas... wonder if Charles was distant relation.

Idk if Noah is related to Charles but I’ve always wondered. Grew up with him and we attended school together and we were in French class for many years together as well. He’s a philosopher and a writer in his own right, and he is a very smart dude! Today is his bday so I’m watching this video of his and I have to say, whether related or not, they’re both two pretty smart polish guys! ❤
