@@mase7557 I think the problem is that it's rubber, which is the same material used in a ton of dog toys, so she'd recognize the smell and think it's a toy
1:32 OMG - I laughed so hard at that catwalk diva pose - and then laughed even harder at her prancing around with them on. She's smart, she'll get used to them and you're wonderful for looking after her so thoughtfully.
You did a great job introducing her to her new boots. The little bit of walking around on a leash in your living room was an excellent idea. It was also great that you didn't bring laughter into her training steps. They know our emotions better than we think they do. She'll be running around outside in her boots in no time. Good job, Mom and Dad!!!! 💖
WOW! I literally yelled out loud with glee when I saw her running and leaping over furniture! I am delighted to see it! Love the way you two gently eased her into the dog boots. Such loving parents. Happy hiking!
Heels are a special torture device that are truly terrible for health of the body. The fact that in some jobs women are required to wear them should be illegal. The cultural expectation should be dismantled.
DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE SHOES!!!! I bought two pairs for 100 dollars they didn’t even last two months and my dog has worn shoes for two years he’s never had a pair do this. The whole sole is too thin to support daily or long term use. They also would take them back to fix the issue Or replace them. I’m also not the only one read the reviews everywhere the often remove negative ones but some are still up!!
@@rachelshepherd1261 the company actually reached out to me and replaced the first two shoes I purchased. However they only lasted 9 months and they need to be replaced again; both of my dogs wear them every single day for our walks and it’s $50 dollars a pair Ive purchased 2 for each dog. I also still have their first pair of shoes purchased from Amazon for $20-$25 a pair they are a boot/sneaker like material. I live in Florida and bought the wagwear ones bc it’s hot here and they have holes. But the choice is primarily your discretion.
I love how by the ends she’s belting after her ball and not a care in the world apart from GET THAT BALL. I would say has a better grip than normal too, great idea and a kinder looking material than I’ve seen on other boots.
@@cm1133 Funny, I was sitting here watching GSP videos on RU-vid when I saw your response. I think I'm gonna get a whole crew of pointers when I retire! At least 6 or 7!
She is a beautiful dog, I’m sure you did the right thing and not laughing at her initial steps, as they are very sensitive to our reactions, but it was hysterical to watch 😂. What a terrific idea for her protection and the next morning amazing 👍
Lol the pidder-padder sound of the shoes on that floor are cracking me up! 😂 It seems that once she figured out that she no longer slid with the shoes on; she was ready to go anywhere with her shoes!
I miss our GSP SOOO much! we lost her and my dad in 2019. Im not surprised she went after him, they were very much soul bonded. One of the best dogs you can have. Your girl looks SO much like our Gracie and I adore watching your videos!
In college, I had a classmate who had a service dog and when it started getting colder that dog had no problem wearing a coat under her service vest, a completely unbothered perfectly trained service dog, but she forever walked funny in her winter boots for ice and summer booties for asphalt. Glad to see your pupper got used to them so quickly. I think the "one boot off" seemed to work out great for her.
🤣🤣My gsp did the same. We got them for hunting. Where we hunt birds has the same rocky terrain. She didn't like them but finally kinda got use to them. She wanted to hunt so she left them alone. My male will not wear them at all. Tundra did really well. So proud of her. I love how she was trying to get them at the beginning. They are so nosey. 💜🐾🐾🐾
Those rocks are so harsh. Your male isn’t having it 😂. He’s like “no”. It’s so funny how they don’t like shoes as if it’s in their way or something. Tundra did well but now she runs away when she see the shoes 🤣.
I grew up with a German Shorthaired Pointer. He was the smartest dog ever and completely INSANE. He chased cars, kids on bikes, rocks, planes and the MOON. He could scale a five foot wall and could open every door in the house to let himself in and out. There was no containing him. I think the insane part had more to do with him being our dog than the breed itself though, quite honestly 😂
From my experience, the best way to get them instantly acclimated to wearing them is going straight out for an exciting walk the first time it's put on. When we did a practice ar home, my dog was all over the place but as soon as he was let out for a jolt in the snow, he didn't even notice it.
I will always love German Shorthaired Pointers. I had one when I was young and he was such a great dog. They are very smart and almost as sweet as my current Lab. 🙂
She must be amazed at her sudden grip on that wooden floor, no more sliding round chasing her ball. What a great idea for the summer when the ground surface gets so hot, the number of people I see walking their dogs on red hot tarmac, they wouldn’t walk on it themselves barefoot! So thoughtful looking after your dogs paws like this.
Love how real pets, real people & real experiences are captured on yt channels. I'm old enough to recall advertisements for products where everyone was fake. Not so with this video & your dog & you. Too funny. Thanks for sharing
I've had 2 GSP's. They are without a doubt the smartest and most loving dogs. One of mine saved my life one day. I had just had kidney surgery and I had her out for her walk off leash (I lived in a rural area) and two un-friendly Pitt Bulls were coming at me and my dog went and got in their faces and stood her ground and they backed down. She was a wonderful dog. I loved that dog.
@@tundrathegsp I got a bulging disc in my back 30 years ago and I've slept on the couch since . She wants to be close so I pulled the matching chair up close so she could sleep in the chair next to me. One morning I woke up. I was laying on my left side and she had climbed up on my right side without waking me up and her nose was right by my right ear. She started snoring. It was all I could do not to start laughing. I didn't want to wake her up. I wasn't mad. How could I be mad at my dog for loving me that much? When I had the kidney surgery though, she knew I wasn't feeling well and she didn't try to play or climb on me, no, she just came up while I was laying on the couch and she put her head on the couch right by my face to let me know she cared and was there for me. I cry when I think about that dog.
I live in a snow belt in Ontario, Canada. Dogs here need shoes because if the ice & snow don't get to them, the road salt and dirt will. It's so important to train dogs when they are young enough to adapt!
Great video. She did great with them compared to a lot of other dogs I have seen. Out here in Colorad we have the same foot dangers and I plan to get my Camper some to try. Thumb up and shared.
She vaults that couch like a pro! I forgot what it’s like to have a big dog! Used to have ridgebacks but after I moved from Seattle to Indiana I scaled down to Papillions lol
thanks for this! I live in a city so it’s hot pavement (no joke in Any!); rough terrain is the same. my dog (different breed) finds his winter ones abhorrent but finally succumbed to wearing them (salt rock). rubber/ thin disposable ones are no good vs heat!
Glad it was helpful. We’re trying to get Tundra used to the shoes before summertime because it is hot here. Hopefully these will do her well when the time comes and won’t melt 🤣
@@tundrathegsp it’s honestly another climate change issue that is particularly a problem for domestic animals that live with us and have to navigate without shoes. sounds silly until one thinks of how many degrees concrete gets and that some do end up with burnt feet. (if someone is an idiot and walks a dog too far etc).
Tundra resembles a circus dog, lol. She'll get used to the shoes. I noticed at the beginning of the video that she knew those were for her feet. Good job, Tundra.
Is this your best example of critical thinking ? _German shorthairs evolved in desert terrain?_ No? *Are there a lot of similarities in the terrain between the desert & Germany?* No again? Maybe your attempt at sarcasm backfired.
It is hilarious to watch dogs learn to use boots! Your dog did great! We started with neoprene booties on our Lab when she was tearing up her soft-sided pool with her front paws. She got used to them so quickly, that if one fell off in the pool, she would bring it to me in her mouth to put back on. We now use them on beaches where there are stickers or if the ground is too hot or has ice on it. She surprisingly does really well with them too. The brand you have look great and easier to put on than the ones we have.
Thank you. It was hilarious. Your lab is so adorable bringing back the boots to let you put it back on 🥰. Glad to see the boots work well for you guys.
She will probably eventually really love them: they will give her more traction on those hardwood floors! I love how she steps weirdly as she tries to figure them out.
What a sweetheart. She obviously is very comfortable with you guys and loves you! Those look like great shoes! Definitely loved the chase and run around the next day. Fantastic pup you have there!
@@tundrathegsp You're so welcome! I'm a professional dog sitter / Walker, and whenever I see a cute dog I'm like man I would love to dogsit them! LOL. You guys take care!
boot scootin’ boogie 🐾 That’s a stopping pad dogs use in high speed maneuvering as change of direction or immediately slowing. It also helps protect that joint as well as traction. Front paws only.
Her "thumb" is called a dew claw and it was thought for many years that if a dog and a snake got into a fight that the dew claws would help the dog in the fight. Poodles and other "high end" dogs often get the dew claws surgically removed when the puppies tails are docked, etc. I think she looks like a ballet dancer getting used to wearing toe shoes. Great pet parents! Congratulations and thanks for sharing. Beautiful dog and obviously if she can run in the shoes, she can hike in them. Very informative. Thanks again.
We rescued a Great Pyrenees and eventually rehomed him to the perfect working home, but in the meantime learned a lot. One thing is they have a double dew claw that they use to help them climb over fences! I tuned in to this video for the laughs, and it didn't disappoint in that every dog I've ever tried shoes on does the same weird walk. In this case, her swift adaptation and seeming enjoyment was a stunner.
