I sold my Alborozo for under $500 because he had a couple leg rubs, but I recently sold my NIB one for $700. They were only $70 at the tack and feed supply store back in the day, and I had half a mind to grab an extra, just in case it became more valuable later. I was right lol!
@@JustDesigned That's the beauty of supply and demand! It's funny to see people paying out WAY too much for a plastic model though. Every hobby has its hardcore enthusiasts with money to burn. Do you find that these people take the fun out of the hobby by driving up prices for the more unique and detailed models?
@@Kingdom_Of_Dreams Personally I think it depends on if the person has the money or not. I am a huge model horse collector but I also can’t justify spending over $200 on a model at the moment due to inflation, and being an adult. 😭 but again doesn’t take the fun out of it more than it makes it more difficult for people such as myself and others who might not have money to spend on the models we love. However that’s how the world is working at the moment and collecting has become more monetized than it’s ever been which is great for people who sell but also sucks for the collectors who don’t because it seems I’ve put more money into the hobby than I would ever get back because I can’t part with my favorite models no matter how much money I could make off of it. However I do see that most people are willing to negotiate on their models when selling I also understand the reason why they’re so expensive. I just think it is what it is unfortunately.
@@JustDesigned Being an adult while also being a collector is the worst. I actually quit collecting for 10+ years because I was in college and even now currently still do not have a decent space for my Breyers, so they always stayed in storage boxes. I am "getting back" into the hobby but not fully. I'm just catching up on the models I never knew existed all these years, while selling the horses I have decided I've outgrown. And it's not like the money situation will get better when you're an adult, so you have to decide if a model is worth spending money on. The great thing about Breyer is that they DO make a lot of beautiful and highly detailed Breyers accessible in terms of pricing, so even though they purposefully create models for the sake of rarity, they also do well with putting a lot of effort into making other models for everyone to enjoy. What are some of your favorite models Breyer has made, in your opinion, that were very reasonably priced upon release?
@@Kingdom_Of_Dreams I think most modern models are very decently priced from Breyer themselves. Special runs at breyerfest are the most “expensive” models I own in my collection at the moment. What I’m talking about is second hand rates from people who’ve already been bought/ been chosen for certain models then rake up the price way more than what it initially was worth. However I understand why this happens at the same time it’s a tricky situation.
I wanted a JustaDream model too for a while, I waited for Breyerfest Clarion sale but decided a month or two not to get her. Still a stunning model. I don't like decorators, although rainbow is pretty (not bc of Pride). Also I saw that Rotating draft on Mercari for $110
Do NOT buy on Mercari. So many extra fees!! I bought a $175 model off of there (Breyerfest 2007 SR Rushmore) and after the shipping fees, taxes, service fee, and processing fee (WTF IS THAT??? WHYYY), I ended up paying $220. Never again lol.
