Overall, a wonderful calendar with many wonderful and iconic races. My personal list: GPs I want to see return: - Sepang - Istanbul - Shanghai (might return in 2024) - Fudji (alternating with Suzuka) - Hockenheim/Nürburgring (preferably alternating as well, also hot take, the new Hockenheim Ring may lack the iconic forest section, but it's actually better for racing) GPs that must stay in the calendar: - Melbourne (as opener) - Bahrain - Baku - Monza - Monaco - Spa - Zandvort - Silverstone - Red Bull Ring - Austin - Interlagos (as finisher) - Hungaroring - Montreal I think a season should have between 20 and 22 races max, that would leave 2-4 places for more GPs in my lineup. Possible candidates: - a Spain Grand Prix: I could live with either Valencia, Jerez or even keeping Catalunya as the finally dropped that hideous chicane. - a Portuguese Grand Prix: I could live with both Estoril or Portimao - a Mexican Grand Prix: I'm not the biggest fan, but it's also not the worst of the Grand Prixes I threw out - an Indian Grand Prix: Budh or what it's called looks very interesting - An Africn Gran Prix: Africa deserves 1 Grand Prix at the very least, Kailamy would have to be upgraded, but it should be possible. - I'm also open to let any of the races I threw out back in as a filler, I just don't need them all in one season And let's address the elephant in the room. No French Grand Prix? Blasphemy, I know, but I just don't see a track in France that is currently tier 1 and suitable for F1. Paul Ricard is a great test track, but absolutely hideous for racing, I think we are all happy it's gone. And I have some fond Memorys of Many Cours as well, but the actual races were pretty boring there. The Mans 24h la Sarthe track is trash for F1 obviously and the Bugatti circuit would have to be updated and is pretty boring as well. Rouen hasn't seen a race in like 50 years. One track that might have potential is Dijon, but it would have to be updated as well. Or we cheat a bit an call either Monaco, Zandvort or Spa the French GP.
I don't mind 2 US tracks, but Miami is just not doing it for me and Vegas...if you're gonna do Vegas, make it the finale where the fun atmosphere will make it an occassion.
@@LawVS I especially liked the older layout veggie the mid 2000s change to sector 3. I agreed with most of the rest of your calendar too. Melbourne is 150% a classic and I know you wanted to limit street circuits but what's your opinion on Adelaide?
I personally think that Bahrain Is worthy of a race since most editions have bene really good and the distances between Kuwait and Bahrain is almost nothing so ill put It right After Kuwait
Being an Alpha Tauri fan (and someone'd who pick Emilia-Romagna as her go-to Italian food region because Bologna), I'm a bit disappointed that Imola didn't make the list.
Absolutely love the video, however, no Kyalami? I understand it wouldn’t be economical but for F1 to be a “world championship” surely a race on the African continent?
Not enough tracks in NA There needs to be at least 2 more races at Indy and Vegas. Realistically there should be another one in the northeast, and another one in the PNW. There’s 80 hundred million races in Europe, but the closest race to me is a full day of driving away. Europeans don’t get the scale of America.
Ah Sepang in Malaysia! i miss it. Especially into F1 games because it used to be one of my favourite ones. I'm sorry i would ditch the Monaco as a even though it's the most iconic one. ACTUALLY! WRC has special events. Monaco could be a special event not a proper race. I mean in NA (i watch hockey) they hold those allstar events. so it could sell really well that way. I would ditch probably Miami and Vegas too.. I know they're trying to market it to americans but i don't personally care about america in motorsports so maybe give a chance to vietnam finally? Korean track wasn't a good but i really like their country so i would like to them have a new go. Finnish track could be good but i feel like the popularity of the sport here has taken a strong hit after since Kimi isn't in the sport anymore and Bottas isn't doing as well as a Finnish driver should be doing + the time at mercedes was a disgrace..
It is a Grade One circuit and I didn't add mainly down to the logistics of going all the way down to South Africa if F1 wants to stay green and also limiting the roster to 21 tracks.
i would love a moroccon gp, ik the track is grade 2 but its close to europe as well so it would be more carbon friendly than kyalami which supposedly wont be on the calender cos of political reasons (but i thought politics were banned in f1, right)
It would be cool to have some more races in North Africa to include the continent whilst also being closer to Europe (you could do a back-to-back with Spain or Portugal)
Logistically and saftey wise its impossible but what i would do for f1 to return to watkins glen again. Since i was born literally 2.5 miles from the track.
Here goes; Pre Season testing, Catalunya Round One, Albert Park Round Two, Sepang Round Three, Shanghai Round Four, Jerez Round Five, Monte Carlo Round Six, Paul Ricard (but with grass and gravel) Round Seven, Montreal Round Eight, Nurburgring (pre 2002 layout) Round Nine, Silverstone Round Ten, Hungaroring ---Summer Break--- Round Eleven, Spa Francorchamps Round Twelve, Monza Round Thirteen, Istanbul Park Round Fourteen, Marina Bay Round Fifteen, Yeongham Round Sixteen, Suzuka Round Seventeen, Interlagos For my qualifying we are going back to the 1996-2002 session Also technically F1 has never raced in Las Vegas, not in the past or the future. The Cesars Palace track and the new one are actually located in Paradise not Las Vegas
Really cool looking calendar. My main issue is Monaco's placement. I get wanting to group races by region but Monaco being on the late may weekend with the Indy 500 and coke 600 is too iconic to remove imo. If it was bumped up to one of the earlier races during the European leg it could probably work still though. Possibly could go after turkey or even right before Monza to make the travel work.
The fact that Interlagos isn´t always the last track in the calender is criminal. It is one of the if not the greatest Racetrack in the world! Only think about all the epic moments that happened at that place.
@@LawVS It needs to be like Homestead-Miami is to NASCAR, even if you aren't invested in the title fight, you still get rewarded for being a loyal fan. Unfortunately, us in NASCAR are stuck with a farce in Phoenix.
As a Malaysian great too see it a fantasy calendar..( I mean it is a beloved track by fans) mean I would love to see comeback but is kinda hard to see that happening for now ಥ‿ಥ
I think Buddh might also be a good place to go, MotoGP is going there and the Indian market is a big one, plus the general opinion from what I've seen is that the circuit was also quite good
In the name of the Race God, I truly misssssss the Sepang gp circuit cz that's where i live, .. The former marketing mgr was my friend, i heard some not very nice inside stories, especially why the F1 race is no longer held there. Political reasons aside, I can't stand the afternoon heat in Sepang, nite race would be better..
@LawVS Sepang (actually pronounced as : ser- punk, not say-pang) Is a merc-petronas home race, being a very rich oil comp, weird that they can't continue the successful gp events.. Due to a political turmoil of billions $, the race disappears.. sad. I really hope in the future, other comp will continue sponsorship of Sepang, also being the cheapest ticket bcz of our rock bottom currency right now 😅😅😅
hey Masako! Brazilian fan here, the letter J in portuguese sounds more like the english J rather than the spanish-castellian J, so instead of saying José like the spanish speakers do, you can say it just like Joseph (minus the ph part) Great video, I would only include the Marina bay circuit or Baku, to add to the street circuits tally
Amazing calendar! I would swap Valencia with Aragon, I would add Zandvoort and maybe find a different track for France because both Magny Cours and Paul Ricard are not great for me. I would love to see a comeback of Rouen Les Essarts, fast track of the 60's with a good amount of elevation changes and through a forest (also would be Gasly's home race... literally because he's from Rouen) but it would need considerable amount of investment for modernization and safety because it was last raced in 1993 with touring cars . The last version of the track in the opposite direction would be pretty cool! Otherwise I would like also Dijion Prenois, but maybe it's a bit too short for modern F1.
I couldn't agree more with your choices of tracks. Those a really good and provide more entertaining racing. I completely forgot that Thailand has a racetrack.
I know that Zandvoort has not produced the best races so far, but just wait until it rains there someday. I was disappointed that you did not include it on your list. I also know that Kyalami does not have the grade 1 license, but I think it would be an amazing season opener.
@@LawVS I do get that, but as a Dutchman with many links to South-Africa I do always hope that people making fantasy calendars will include both Zandvoort and Kyalami.
As a Thai, who personally went to that Buriram International Circuit, I am actually quite interested in a F1 event in that circuit as they are quite flat, has a lot of straight and high speed curve. Also, it is simply no better time, Alex Albon is absolutely our favorite driver, and f1 fan base in Thailand has been increasing like crazy since he joined. Great content as always mate👍🏼.
Now then, for my own version in order: Albert Park (AUS) >Sepang (MAL) >Buriram (THA) Baku (AZE) Catalunya (SPA) Monte-Carlo (MON) Red Bull Ring (AUS) >Magny Cours/Paul Ric (FRA) >Silverstone (GBR) Hockenheim (GER) Hungaroring (HUN) (Rotating EU Circuit)(Euro GP) *summer break* Spa Franc (BEL) Monza (ITA) Zandvoort(NED) BIC (BAH) Suzuka (JPN) Marina Bay (SIN) (Rotating Asian/Americas Circuit)(Pacific GP) >CGV (CAN) >COTA (USA) Autodromo HR (MEX) Interlagos (BRA) Ascari Race Resort (SPA, Final GP) > denotes double header As for the weekend format Friday practices will be untouched but Practice 3 will also be Friday now. Saturday will have only a 30min warm up before the new qualis. >The Qualis will now be just one guy out of the track with 3 hot laps to their name per session. This is so incidents like Monza 21 would not happen again nor will teams rely on the "tow". >The Q1-2-3 format will remain. The 5 slowest in Q1 and 2 will not advance into the next session >For Q1, the order of racers coming out will be based on either last race results or a random draw. Q2 and Q3 will base on the previous session's results. >Racers will have to spend all 3 hotlaps in the period they're called to track. They cannot store remaining attempts for later. Sunday... >Enforce rules clearer. That's it.
I'd like to see a calendar with as minimum continent hopping as possible in mind. But then it went quite long with odd scheduling choices. So here goes: 1. Albert Park/The Bend 2. Marina Bay/Sepang 3. Buriram 4. Suzuka/Fuji/Shanghai 5. Buddh 6. Yas Marina/Kuwait/Jeddah 7. Baku 8. Kyalami 9. Istanbul Park/Hungaroaring 10. Red Bull Ring 11. Nurburgring/Hockenheim 12. Monza 13. Mugello/Imola/Misano [optional European GP] [summer break] 14. Silverstone 15. Zandvoort 16. Spa 17. Algarve/Magny-Cours 18. Monaco 19. Jerez (odd choice maybe for present era cars like you said)/Valencia/Aragon 20. Montreal 21. COTA/MotoGP layout Indianapolis (to shake things up, also to add to the anticlockwise course list) 22. Hermanos Rodriguez 23. Termas de Rio Hondo 24. Interlagos Note: If Algarve was chosen for that year then Monaco would be raced before it. The other way around if it's on Magny-Cours.
Great list, tho I would swap Kuwait for Bahrain. Also historically Monza is usually the finaly of the European part of the season and I always loved that
Here is my dream F1 calendar including Grade 2 tracks: Pre-season testing: Baku City Circuit Round 1: Thai Grand Prix (Chang International Circuit) Round 2: Bahrain Grand Prix (Bahrain International Circuit) Round 3: Hungarian Grand Prix (Hungaroring) Round 4: Catalan Grand Prix (Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya) Round 5: Czech Grand Prix (Brno Circuit) Round 6: Belgian Grand Prix (Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps) Round 7: Monaco Grand Prix (Circuit de Monaco) Round 8: American Grand Prix (Miami International Autodrome) Round 9: Brazilian Grand Prix (Interlagos Circuit) Round 10: South African Grand Prix (Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit) Round 11: Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (Yas Marina Circuit) Round 12: British Grand Prix (Silverstone Circuit) Round 13: Canadian Grand Prix (Circuit Gilles Villeneuve) Round 14: Spanish Grand Prix (Circuit Ricardo Tormo) Four weeks of summer break Round 15: Italian Grand Prix (Autodromo Nazionale di Monza) Round 16: Austrian Grand Prix (Red Bull Ring) Round 17: Dutch Grand Prix (Zandvoort Circuit) Round 18: Azerbaijani Grand Prix (Baku City Circuit) Round 19: Malaysian Grand Prix (Sepang International Circuit) Round 20: Singaporean Grand Prix (Marina Bay Street Circuit) Round 21: Australian Grand Prix (Albert Park Circuit) Round 22: Japanese Grand Prix (Fuji Speedway) Round 23: Korean Grand Prix (Korea International Circuit) Round 24: Mexican Grand Prix (Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez) Round 25: Virginian Grand Prix (Virginia International Raceway)
That would be such a great lineup of tracks! The only reserve I'd have as a Frenchman is Magny-Cours, I don't think ti would work with how big current F1s are. if they would get significantly smaller in 2026 why not, but otherwise i'd prefer the likes of Circuit Bugatti in Le Mans, but it would need to be considered as Grade 1
I love the inclusion of Buriram, I feel that we should go to south Africa to be a truely World Championship. But I understand why is not in the video since I belive it isn't Grade 1.
My dream F1 calendar: 1. Albert Park, Australia 2.. Marina Bay, Singapore 3. Suzuka, Japan First Double Header: 4. Chang, Thailand 5. Sepang, Malaysia Second Double Header: 6. Baku, Azerbaijan 7. it's true Japan will be the 4th race of the season. and I also love that you make it more economical 😀. amazing video 👏 p.s. I also love mitsos' video where he went to buckram with a.a
This is my dream calender (and I do mean dream, because I know this will never be a reality), based on the 2024 calendar: R1. Bahrain Grand Prix @ Bahrain International Circuit (road course) R2. Saudi Arabian Grand Prix @ Jeddah Corniche Circuit (road course) R3. Australian Grand Prix @ Calder Park Thunderdome (oval) R4. Japanese Grand Prix @ Suzuka (road course) R5. Chinese Grand Prix @ Shanghai International Circuit (road course) R6. Miami Grand Prix @ Homestead-Miami Speedway (oval) R7. Emilia Romagna Grand Prix @ Imola Circuit (road course) R8. Indianapolis 500 (combination race with IndyCar Series; it's time for F1 to say goodbye to Monaco and its tiny streets) R9. Canadian Grand Prix @ Circuit Gille Villeneuve (road course) R10. Spanish Grand Prix @ Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (road course) R11. Austrian Grand Prix @ Red Bull Ring (road course) R12. British Grand Prix @ Silverstone (road course) R13. Hungarian Grand Prix @ Hungaroring (road course) R14. Belgian Grand Prix @ Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (road course) R15. Dutch Grand Prix @ Circuit Zandvoort (road course) R16. Italian Grand Prix @ Monza Circuit (restore and modernize the old oval for this) R17. Azerbaijan Grand Prix @ Baku City Circuit (street course) R18. German Grand Prix @ Lausitzring (oval) R19. United States Grand Prix @ Circuit of the Americas (road course; I wouldn't wish Texas Motor Speedway on F1 fans) R20. Mexico City Grand Prix @ Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez (oval; yes, it has an oval configuration, Formula E uses part of it) R21. Qatar Grand Prix @ Lusail International Circuit (road course) R22. Las Vegas Grand Prix @ Las Vegas Motor Speedway (oval) R23. Abu Dhabi Grand Prix @ Yas Marina Circuit (road course) R24. São Paulo Grand Prix @ Interlagos Circuit (road course) Here are the tl;dr changes: * Moved Australia, Miami, Italy, Germany, Mexico City, and Las Vegas to ovals; it's time for F1 to stop worrying and love the oval * Monaco and Singapore are out; F1 cars are too big for street courses these days (I kept Azerbaijan because variety); Singapore has been replaced by Germany, and as for Monaco, F1 runs alongside IndyCar in the Indianapolis 500 as a combination race (F1 teams would probably have to use the Dallara DW12 chassis and either Chevrolet or Honda engines, but considering how much cheaper IndyCar is, I think even AlphaTauri can fit it into their budget; hell, McLaren already has an IndyCar team, it wouldn't cost them much more to have two more cars just for the Indy 500)
Out of curiosity, if FIA grading weren't an issue, what else would you throw on there? Personally, I think Autopolis, Brno, MotorLand Aragon, the Slovakiaring, Road Atlanta/America, maybe Sonoma, maybe Misano, maybe the Lausitzring, and obviously Le Mans/the Nordschleife/Mt. Panorma would be fun (albeit difficult to do safely). Or if we want to see some absolute chaos, maybe let's throw in Sebring for the insane bumpiness and Norisring for the sub-40-second lap times.

Not a bad calendar but imo Bahrain is a must on the modern F1 calendar, Jeddah is a very unique circuit and Shanghai deserves to come back. These 3 would deny Kuwait and Thailand spots.

I'm 7 months late to the party but here's my calendar😅. It's not the whole calendar it's jus my ins and outs and any track I don't include I'm keeping. And the ins and outs are coordinated so when there's an out the next in is wht I'd replace it with meaning roguely is were I'd put it in the calendar but not the exact position, jus beginning middle and end Miami: Out Kinda crap if I'm honest the 2 yrs we've had it and honestly we don't need anymore street tracks see Miami's gone Malasiya: In The first ever race and track I watched so I have a massive soft spot for it and would probably be my favourite track on the calendar if it was on there. And I think it could be an interesting race with these cars and going into the new regs: Las Vegas: Out Could be controversial mainly cause we've only seen 1 race there and it was alright but I take it out because there's jus better tracks then Las Vegas tht could and arguably should replace it Kylami: In Criminal we don't have a South African GP especially when they have the have track for it. Needs to be on the calender Abu Dhabi: Out Although the tracks improved it still doesn't deserve to be the last race on the calender and arguably shouldn't be on the calender Hockemheimring/Nurburgring: In I'd have this as part of the last stretch of the calender like the last 10 races and weather it's Hockenhiem or Nurburg I'm not sure. Take u pick Catalunya: Out I think it's jus because of testing the racing's bad so thts y I swap it out. And tbf there's jus better tracks then it Turkey: In Race was good last time although admittedly with the last regs in 21 but I think the racing would be good here with these regulations and the next ones. Shouldn't be as slippery 😅 Shanghai: Out I don't really want to replace it but I jus don't want or need 25 races on the calendar so shanghai gas to give way for me but I am looking forward to the race this year Portugal: In If I've got this correct China is near the start of the calender and is where I'd put the Portuguese circuit cause I do think it's better the shanghai track and don't get me wrong like I said before I wouldn't necessarily replace it I jus don't want 25 races on the calender, 24's to many already so I thought shanghai was the best option. (Tell me if I've missed any ins or outs)

While i like the list, 11 races in Europe which North American gets 3 and South America get 1 make The "WORLD" championship not a world championship. I would probably drop Hungaroring and add Zandvorth, Vancover street circuit, an upgrade Watkins Glenn or Sonoma, and a another South American (maybe Argentina or Chile) race. This woul make the 24 races the FIA wanted and make F1 a little bit more of a world wide sport. Although this is my opinion tho so trash it however
Kyalami may not be a Grade 1 circuit yet, but since we're talking about a "World" Championship, the African continent needs to be there too. Also, I am glad that you moved away from street circuits (such as Singapore) or Arab circuits, but Dubai Autodrome is way better than Abu Dhabi and needs a shot. On a personal note, I'd swap Hockenheim and Ricardo Tormo with Nurburgring and Motorland Aragon, respectively.
why no china? What about 2016 161 overtakes in a single race. One of the better qualifying's of the season at Singapore and with the upgrades its getting this year having four long straights?! But besides that its a REAL GOOD calendar! :)
yikes, no Bahrain, no Imola, no Zandvoort, no Nurburgring you've been brutal. I'd get rid of France, Spain, and Baku from your calendar and add in the first 3 and go back to alternating between the two German tracks if you really want to keep it to 21 races, but I'd rather have a 22 race season that features both. I understand your reservations about human rights but especially with no Singapore and no Abu Dhabi in your calendar it seems a shame not to have at least one night race in Bahrain and it's a great track for racing.
I tried to keep it to one race per country to make it more global, as well as showcase some more tracks which don't get as much attention. But in retrospect, alternating races in Germany and Spa/Netherlands might work.
I rly don't understand the fascination that ppl have with the Brazil GP, that circuit its trash, I dont care if it is a classic, you only have 1 set of corners that can be describe as good. There are other trash circuits but rly, monaco is trash but has that magic that only monaco has, Catalunya/Portimao are close to be bad in terms of F1 but have rly carrosel like laps ... what the Brazi GP has? Getting mugged?
Your qualifying won't work because the teams up near the front tend to not push their tires to hard in round 2 as these are the tires they will start the race on. If they have to push them in qualifying to avoid an unfavorable match up in your head to head 3rd round then their tires because of the crap construction rules won't last 5 laps, If you want to go back to proper construction rules before the 2011 season I would have no problems with it as it would mean that F1 would no longer be a tire endurance series. It would be a proper car performance series again.
