I definitely needed a Tamar video today! Everything I tried to do today just turned to s@#£... I just about chucked my tools out the door! Unlike you I don't have a workshop yet...since I don't live alone I can't just do what I want. So I have been going around grabbing roadside "ritches " and free stuff off marketplace trying to start my own workshop and storage to start my own woodworking business repurposing items...this summer I have lost sooo much time to rain! I'd swear I live in nova Scotia but we are not supposed to have a monsoon season and I'm pretty sure I didn't move to a rain forest...sigh. I really needed the laugh from seeing you on the skateboard. I thought I was the only person who used one for a dolly! Thanks for the laughs and inspiration!

My jaw dropped when you said you sprained your ankle too! I'd spent the whole day collecting free wood and stuff with my oldest son. I pushed past my limits bcuz weather is killing my time...plus I'm excited to be preparing for my new workshop. When we got home my runaway teenager had decided to come back unannounced (we don't get along...breaks my heart). As you can imagine I was distracted...when I realised I forgot something in the car. I made the mistake of turning around on the steps. My stupid bad hip said screw you I'm done for the day! It randomly let go and down I went...my hair got caught in the fencing effectively pinning me to the ground. All I heard was awful cracking...thought for sure I broke something as it was my second fall in a month...same ankle. Over extended my left arm...😢. I would not wish my bad luck on anyone (ok maybe bad guys...lol). It's encouraging to see you and I have similar struggles and you prevailing! Gives me hope

Congratulations, from a dusty dirty cold and hot shed (she shed?) To this updated much improved custom studio shop. Your moving up. Looking forward to more projects Like the folding roll up chair you did That didn't work out. Still a neat concept and you dont know if you dont try. Lots a new machines to work with. Thus far it all costing money. Be nice to see you making custom stuff to sell to client's getting a return on the investment. Stay small, a lot of shops went big only to hire people who had bad habits. I got lumber from a shop as he closed about 1/4 the cost he was bassicly giving it away to retire. As I was looking at what he had we found a crack pipe in his shop that looked like a magic marker. This fool was using drugs in the shop working if he'd gotten hurt on the job well you cant trust people have comon since enough to know not to be using drugs and running power equipment, the risk for serious injury is beyond imagination and the shop owner would be responsible. This is the risk you take hiring someone. And I'd fire them on the spot if I caught them doing it. No second chances and I'd be very clear about that policy.

Looks like a great design. Ignore the people that complain about you using higher end tools. You have made many amazing projects over the years using budget tools. You have definitely earned you right to have nicer tools, and they should recognize that and that you have proven time and time again you don't need high end tools to make high-end products.

I appreciate that! And I’m really glad you see it that way. I was once a beginner who got frustrated when I saw someone use a router table to achieve something when I didn’t have a router table… so I get it. But watching those videos also gave me inspiration and goals that’s I wanted to achieve. I am proud to say I am no longer a beginner woodworker and I shouldn’t pretend to be one for viewers who are looking to get for that content. I will keep on growing and I hope ppl will come along for the ride, but if they don’t, that’s ok too ☺️

Wholeheartedly agree. I can't deny a sense of jealousy seeing those amazing tools that I do not currently afford. But, having followed your progress over the past several years, I know that they are all hard earned. One of the charms of your channel has always been how you figure out to do things without the special tools. Seeing the floating tenons done the hard way before bringing out the domino is appreciated.

right on, tamar…! i for one am highly impressed by the skillful way you present your woodworking videos and how much you have progressed since starting your yt channel…! there is constructive criticism and there’s deconstructive complaining; constructive criticism always wins out… complaining commenters about your shop or tools only do one thing: the complainer gives you their time; something they will never get back…! 😂 best wishes for a speedy ankle recovery…! (i personally don’t want to see a video of the twisting your ankle video… 😢)

It's so cool you're building out your new shop and getting bigger and better equipment. At the same time, for me, one of the appeals of your channel was how beginner-friendly it has been. I don't want to suggest that you should hold back and not progress, I just found it so awesome that you made beginner equipment work so well. It made woodworking seem more accessible for newbies. It's great that you continue to show simpler options during your builds. Thanks for your content and keep on cracking.

@@3x3CustomTamar- totally agree with the parent comment here, as someone who found you when looking to get into it. The great thing is seeing the progression though, rather than just ignoring all the beginner development you went through. I know it's not a "normal" theme for you, but it would actually be really cool if you put out a career breakdown video of some kind, going over the big milestones in your projects / the work that you do, the shop developments that accompanied all of those, and how the knowledge you picked up over time looks like. Not a small one, but thinking of your joint/tool breakdowns that clearly show insight to when you started using different techniques, milling your own lumber, etc. - it'd be invaluable in terms of helping folks conceptualize the journey even if they're just hobbyists (that'd be me 😅). Either way, great work again and cheers!

Tamar, that looks like a very well thought out work bench. Since we all have our own way of working, it is good to have one designed for our individual needs and it is good you took the time to think it out before jumping into building this. By all means, breaking this build into multiple videos is fine, since it gives us more chances to visit with you while you work. Your videos are always fun to watch, as well as informative and we miss you when you don't post. Looking forward to the rest of this series. Wow - well done, that new workbench will be a great addition to your new shop. Thank you for sharing with us your construction method (ways and means) for getting the base built. Look forward to seeing more builds and more projects. When I build projects for my kids, I include the cost of newly purchase tools (both small and larger tools) in my construction cost. One of my most recent projects I purchased a new drill press, so that new outdoor wooden chair for their back yard cost big bucks but now I have a new tool for future projects. Nice new planner :)

Hey Tamar. As always, great build with easy detailed narration. I am sure the end result will be up to your standards of quality and beauty. I am not one who cares about free stuff given to makers. Manufacturers spend thousands of dollars on marketing and this is a type of marketing reserved for woodworkers like yourself, J. Katz, J. Hibbs, etc. My one pet peeve for me is the transparency of the affordability of what is being built. I saw Bourbon moth build a chop saw station and it was fantastic. He never revealed what it would cost US if we were to try and build it. I went and priced out Baltic Birch and other higher end plywood and it is hard to afford. So I built mine out of 2x4 and regular 3/4 plywood. I've purchased wood from Woodworkers Source and they are far from inexpensive, especially with the shipping that is involved. I guessed the sizes from what you had stacked up and it came to almost $2000. That was only for the wood you are using for your frame. Now I am sure you are getting the wood for a lower cost or for free or you would have gotten your lumbar local, but that is neither here nor there. It would be great to give a cost breakdown for regular people who will not get any deals like woodworkers on You Tube get. This would helpful in deciding if a project like the one you are building is within the means of the regular person. I am not getting on you for this, I am just stating that watching you build the things you do is entertaining and enjoyable but the projects can sometimes be out of our league. To be honest I don't think there are many makers who do this, other than Shop Nation on some of his builds. I you can't, or won't, that is fine. One of the comments had requested a supply list and you stated you have been talking to WWS about it so, if that happens, we could find out that way. Anyway, be safe and be blessed.

It's been a while since I caught up on my subscriptions. Looks like the new shop is coming along. Yes please do offer the plans for sale. Sorry to see you sprained your ankle. Glad your injury is not a fracture. It might be embarrassing to show the incident but, think of the educational value in preventing this from happening to someone else. I'm looking forward to Part II.

I have been away from Tamar's channel since she was moving into her new shop. The various tool manufacturers couldn't choose a better representative to highlight their products than this very talented young lady. As always, she has combined fantastic build technique, super creative video art and instruction that is just perfect! If one were to see Tamar out in public, doing daily chores, how many would assume that she was a woodworking genius? Breaker of molds as well!

A little late now, but I know you'd love a bench from either of these two - Paoson Woodworking and Hooked On Wood. Of all the benches I've seen made lately, these two guys seem to have thought of it all without taking up the entire shop to do it. More videos please. Love your work. Preferably with fewer injuries....

Hope you recover from your sprained ankle soon 🤞🏼. Back in school/college I'd have advised you to "walk it off" (this recipe has literally worked for me many times), but since then I've learnt that that is not always the best solution. Love your videos for your smart solutions.

Hi Tamar. I have been watching your videos for years and absolutely love your work. As my daughter is also a professional woodworker you are a model and an inspiration to us both. Watching you work on this video I couldn't help but notice your current out-feed table saw situation. I used rollers for years and last year bit the bullet and got the integrated out-feed table for my Saw-stop. It is a game changer! I know. There's never enough money to buy all the tools we want, yet I'd highly recommend you give it a look. It stows away so well and has made my rollers nearly obsolete. Keep up the great work Tamar. Thrilled you're enjoying such success. I clearly remember those one car garage videos and marveling how you did so much with so little!

Be well, heal completely, and do rehab on the ankle or it will happen again and again (don't ask me how I know that;) My vote on the ankle injury clip is sure, who doesn't like to see a train wreck :) and knowing that you come out the other side somewhat ok makes it possibly a learning moment for the rest of your viewers. Again, be well and did I mention doing rehab? (I know it isn't fun but your older self will thank your younger self-just trust me on that one).

Agree I’d love to see what happened that caused the injury and maybe your thoughts on if there is anything you learned from it. On my own experience I was carrying a half sheet of 3/4 and tripped over a power cord and fell myself but luckily nothing sprained. I committed to not have ANY obstructions on the floor area and am feeding my power top down and working on getting my last dust tube off my floor. Been watching you for a while and was admiring how your shop seems to be about a year ahead of my shop in terms of tools and capabilities.
