Hi friends, today's the day!!!! We finally get to meet Noah and Luke and I could not be happier. I can't wait to share our birth vlog and birth experience in future videos, but until then, here's a video sharing my experience getting the ECV in order to try to turn Noah from a breech/transverse position into a vertex position.
Much love,
Meredith

I just got my ECV today and was soo nervous from watching videos last night of horror stories! I was soo lucky!! It turned first time and I breathed through the whole thing. I just tried to zone out and it worked. So worth it for me! ☺️

Your video has helped me make the decision to skip ECV. I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant and my baby is transverse, I'm currently trying spinning babies exercises without much success, and while there's still time for my baby to turn if she were still transverse by 36 weeks I'd rather go directly for a planned c-section. There are babies who move a lot and have lots of room, but my baby has always been in transverse position for as long as I could feel her, so perhaps there's a reason for it (short umbilical cord, uterus shape,...) and I'd rather not risk injuring her or ending up delivering her before 39 weeks.

Just a little tip for some people, there are definitely doctors that will deliver a breech baby! Transverse is more difficult. But my doctor delivers roughly 20 breech babies a year. 200 total. And 80 vbacs on average! (Vaginal birth after cesarean) my baby girl is breech, I’m 32 weeks and I will be attempting a vbac in September 💖

I’m so happy you are able to find a doctor who was willing to deliver your breach baby! I checked 3 hospitals and sadly that was not an option for me. Otherwise I definitely would have!

You are so brave to go through this! I worked in L&D/ Postpartum unit for 12 years and every-time we would have a version scheduled it was a tense day as the procedure could end in an emergent c-section. Smaller babies are easier to turn. I’m so glad you are both ok!

@Emma Hawke hi I am going to have mine in a week, did they gave you epidural ? My doctor recommended that. I am really worried about that i never had epidural in my previous pregnancy. I delivered my other baby's Natural.

@@ladyreeashie5151 My lady said it was pretty uncomfortable. She wasn’t crying or anything but still painful. It went smoothly for the most part. As for delivery, my wife ended up doing a C-section anyway because the umbilical cord was wrapped around our son’s neck. Not sure if it had to do with turning him in the womb.

Aww mama.... the ECVs are usually more successful in smaller babies when there is more space. I try to schedule patients exactly at 37 weeks. And I strongly encourage epidural use. I did one without an epidural today (in an excellent candidate) due to extenuating circumstances but that is not the norm in my practice. Some babies are super comfy and don't want to budge.
@RaisingLittleLights
@RaisingLittleLights 2 года назад
That’s so good to hear there are doctors like you who schedule them earlier and use epidurals. On behalf of other mamas and me, thank you, truly!! It would have been so nice to have a higher chance of avoiding a c-section had I been able to try turning my baby earlier.

I am so lucky. I just had a ecv for the firat time with my 5th baby today. I did not get pain medicine but i did have a transverse baby and he flipped very quick like one push with no pain and that scared the doctor because she said he might have so much room that he will flip again. Still waiting now at 38 weeks to see if he will stay head down. He is actually large for his gestation so i guess i have a large uterus lmao

39 weeks and 3 days and I'm having this done tomorrow. So nervous and unfortunately with covid restrictions at my hospital they will not allow my husband to accompany me which honestly is making the situation worse. But I already have my induction and c-section scheduled for right after depending on the results.

@kaylabanks1967
@kaylabanks1967 Год назад
@Van It wasn't successful and very uncomfortable. I wasn't given any pain medication like I've heard some get. I ended up having a c-section. This was my 3rd birth but 1st c-section. I had a lot of abdominal pain in my recovery, and while I don't know for sure, I attribute alot of that to having the EVC right before my c-section. Baby girl is now a happy healthy 1 year old, and my biggest baby yet so I'm glad it all worked out the way it was meant to. In the end I wouldn't have done it differently, I still would have tried to turn her even if there was a slight chance of getting to have a vaginal delivery.

My baby has been breech since around 30 weeks and I’m 37+1 today. I have an ECV scheduled next week on Friday at 38+2. I’m doing acupuncture, chiro, moxibustion and spinning babies so I’m really hoping to flip before then. But I also have gestational diabetes and baby is measuring really big so I’m prepared that it might not work. 🤞🏼

@RaisingLittleLights
@RaisingLittleLights 2 года назад
I wouldn’t! Remember what I said, for some women the ECV will be almost effortless and the baby will turn easily within the first 15 seconds. For others, the baby is stuck and no matter how hard the doctor tries the baby won’t turn. Those are the cases where it’s painful, but you won’t know if your baby could turn easily or not unless you try. I would try! And if it’s been a good 15-30 seconds and the baby isn’t budging, then you gave it a shot and you don’t have to keep trying, but at least you gave it a shot! I know several women who had pain free ECVs. It’s totally possible 😊

People are so afraid of honesty these days. This constant "stay positive" drives me crazy. Positivity doesn't care about actual physical things or the other way around. This hurt this woman but she gave it a try and she made it through. That's what counts.
