It's fabulous Shannon 🎉. Can I just add to some of the other comments regarding your garden... it does take years to get such beauty established...Also, the way it is configured gives you various 'garden rooms' with more interest than a plain open garden. A good prune back of the shrubs (when it's the correct time to do so) will help make it feel less 'overgrown', but please remember that a well established garden blocks out a LOT of noise. The trees, shrubs etc are stunning and really do help to cut out noise pollution (especially with having a public space at the back of you). Also the birds will eat unwanted bugs, slugs and spiders, so good idea to keep encouraging them to your garden. The metal pole with the hooks was, indeed, originally a flower basket holder (they cost a fortune)...but can be used for bird feeders... Hope you don't mind this little bit of advise. You'll do you but hopefully this will be of some interest for you. Big hugs, love xxx

I agree with many others about the garden Shan. It's beautiful and would have cost hundreds over the years to establish it as beautiful as that, I love how it goes in sections. A tidy up is all it needs. The house it's self is great. If you are thinking of removing the living room furniture, couldn't Mumma G use it for her living room to save her money? The oak furniture in there isn't cheap, and the sofas would be perfect for her, obviously if she wanted them, that is. You have bought a great home for a first-time buyer, and I hope it brings you loads of everything you dream of. Oh, and I agree with Dan, blinds all the way. Love Martha ❤

Omg that garden is amazing 🤩 I see fairy lights lots of fairy lights, an anti slip raised decking area outside back door with a bistro set for early morning croissants n coffee, a hot tub under that canopy behind the shed for unwinding down the day. Mama g sitting under the abour watching the birds feeding off the bird feeder with her glass of gin n tonic. I see Dan pottering around with his watering can at sunset thinking he’s Alan Titmarsh 😅 yes…I love that garden 🌳 🌅 ☀️ 🌺 xxx Loving this house, lots of potential xxx

Please Shan don't take out radiators, you have said it's not your forever home, and I'm worried that taking them out when the time comes to sell it may be a lot harder with limited radiators. I definitely think blinds, rather than nets. The garden is beautiful and just needs a bit of pruning, which I'm sure Dan will enjoy doing. You have a beautiful first time home there 💞
@areo094
@areo094 Месяц назад
I second this. Radiators in rooms was actually something I looked out for when I bought my first home as I hate feeling cold. If you aren't going to use them you can always turn them off.
@anya7790
@anya7790 Месяц назад
Shannon, you've bought a great house. As a designer I see lots and the people you bought it off have left it in great condition and obviously cared for and loved their home. As you aren't intending it to be your forever home I wouldn't take out the radiator in the living room. The wood burner will heat up the room beautifully, but you both do early mornings and might appreciate the quick heat from the radiator on cold winter mornings. You want to make it your own, but I wouldn't invest a lot of money in a house I don't intended to stay in. Neutralise the paint indoors and the stair and bedroom carpets. I think the garden is amazing and wouldn't remove many plants. They can be pruned back, but that's a lovely mature garden and you can always add pops of colour with pots and hanging baskets. I feel like I've given a lot of advice you didn't ask for 😂 Make it yours, but not so personal buyers, who are notoriously unable to see potential, can't look past the things you've done to imagine themselves living there. I'll shut up now 😊 Congratulations, very happy for you xx Forgot to add, my neighbour has a free-standing, claw foot tub with a shower over it. I would not recommend it, in fact I didn't ... and they're going to change it.

Absolutely. Years and money!! There are some beautiful plants in the garden too. Even if she was planning to stay forever it would pain me to see that garden altered too much in terms of the plants. A lot can be done with annual plants. She could even change the colour theme with different bedding plants every year x
@katiebarratt5394
@katiebarratt5394 Месяц назад
I love your garden. The only area I would alter is the bit right outside your back door. The rest is lovely. The flowers and bushes are so nice. I agree it takes years for them to grow to being a substantial plant and you are so lucky to have all the bird song. It would be a shame to loose the birds if you got rid of things. Anyway, good luck in your new home 😊xx
@trish8765
@trish8765 Месяц назад
Congrats on your new home. My thoughts, and they are just thoughts as this is your home to do as you please with. I wouldn't remove the radiators because having had a previous house with an open fire, sometimes you haven't the time to light a fire and wait for it too heat up the space, or you might only want to heat part of the house like the bathroom. If the extension has a flat roof your passage and bathroom could be freezing in the winter and you'll be grateful for the radiators first thing in the morning. As for the garden, as soon as I saw it from the bedroom windows I thought WOW! It's beautiful, it has different areas set out to sit in and have different views, and in turn draws you down the garden (the garden is everything a landscaper would probably say to do with a long garden to offer interest). The plants offer both privacy, noise reduction and homes for wildlife, and I have to repeat myself it is beautiful. Once you had taken us out into the garden the sounds of the birds was lovely and calming. Don't destroy it all, maybe just prune it. That garden alone will be a selling point when you move on.

What a fab home with so much potential 😍. I almost fell off my bed when you were saying about getting rid of all the greenery in the garden....that would be criminal 😢😂. It's such a beautiful garden and I feel you would lose so much privacy if you pulled all the bushes etc down. Also I agree with Dan, Blinds all the way, I think nets are so outdated. I personally haven't been in a home with nets since the late 80's early 90's. I'm not keen on them at all. The livingroom furniture is fab too. I would upcyle them and stain and oil the tops and paint the rest a beautiful cream colour to make them more modern. I've personally done similar in the past and they turned out beautiful 😍 xx

Omg Shannon your house us gorgeous, the garden us stunning I'd love this garden, it only need pruning so much wildlife rely on your type of garden like bees and other bugs. Decking looks nice but it a nightmare to treat every year plus it gets covered in slugs and spiders. Greenery wow, it lowers noise and gives privacy I love it. Especially in winter it helps less wind noise and the cold getting into the house. Honestly it just needs pruning Shannon your garden us beautiful. ❤

🎉 Congratulations! I would keep the radiators just upgrade them since heat doesn't always spread out in the house in winter with just a wood burner. Congratulations on getting your first home! Hope you'll have many happy years there. I'd stick with blinds, nets wouldn't look nice. Unless you have blinds, then lace panels as curtains. Wallpaper in a bathroom ? 😂 are you sure about that ha. Blinds over nets, that’s so 80’s same as the wallpaper. The garden needs to be left full of plants. Our planet Earth cannot survive people tearing doen gardens to create a flat plastic lawn football pitch in their back garden. Especially if not your forever home it would be awful to rip out the previosu owners hard work just for future owners to have to restore it back to its natural green state. ❤ Re insides, paint walls do fresh carpet. Maybe re do kitchen but bathroom is nice as is. Then live it in for a bit and see how you feel. x

Lovely house, your garden is great, if a bit overgrown!! I'd wait until you've been through a winter before taking out radiators, it's different living in a house to an apartment. In an apartment you have the heat rising from below and the heat being retained by the apartment above. In a house if your insulation in the roof is not too good you will need those radiators, as it will get cold very quick. I would put a bath in the bathroom (I'm a bath person) and I think the idea of a little toilet room off your bedroom is a great idea. I think blinds in the bedroom, I would have blinds throughout, but it's your place and your decision. I'm looking forward to seeing it be transformed into your own little world.

Congratulations to you both. It’s a lovely house and like most people are saying, wait until after spending the winter there before changing the heating system. That will give you a better idea where you should put radiator’s. The garden is nice, but it will need a lot of maintenance. But you’re both young enough to cope with that. I think nets are very old fashioned, much better with shutters or blinds. Shutters are great, because you don’t need to buy curtains. 😊 Just need a dust every week, no need for washing curtains I wish you both a very happy time in your new home.

It's beautiful. I have a woodburner and radiators as it can take a while to get the burner going at a decent warmth, takes time to heat the house. I'm an end terrace so it take a lot of heat to warm the none neighbour end. Also if you take them out and you want to sell it on you'll lose some money. The garden is beautiful and has taken years to get it like that, it did seem noisy outside when you showed us, maybe that's why there's a lot of bushes. If you feel a bit penned in by them you can trim them down some when the timing it right x

Shannon I am so thrilled for you. I’ve been watching you for years and know how much owning your own home means to you. You’re really lucky that you can take your time with planning and decorating without living there. I was the same when I brought my first flat on my own, so it was perfect for me to live in when I was ready. I had a bay window and that’s where my Christmas tree went 😂😂. I wish you and Dan much happiness my lovely xx

Congratulations to you both! So exciting.Looks a lovely house and beautiful garden. Has had a lot of love put into it. I am originally from Cambridge, moved to Nr Ely, Then Christchurch NZ, now just moved to Melbourne Aus. Get roller blinds, but not venetian, they are a pig to clean. You could always have voile as curtains too. I agree, keep all the radiators til spring. They obviously put them in for a reason. Looking forward to watching your project. Good Luck with the move. xx

Thats such a beautiful house I know you will make a lovely cosy home. The radiators I would keep and see if the log burner lives up to expectations to be on the safe side. The garden is fabulous. Particularly like the secret garden at the bottom. Wishing you both all the happiness in the world in your first home together ❤ xxx

You could remove all the radiators under the windows which will give you even more space and instead buy the new slimline modern radiators that go on the wall they go longways On the wall high up so your left with plenty of floor space in all of the rooms xx 😊❤

I'd go with blinds tbh Shannon. Horizontal blinds would be nice and they're less maintenance than nets. I think nets are old fashioned but you can get nice ones now. Maybe nets with roller blinds. It's a lovely home ❤ try & keep some greenery in the garden. It's good for wildlife. Can't wait for the renovation vlogs. Congratulations 🎊 ❤
