The trend in Native fish keeping is very interesting. I can only have Natives of NWC Fla in my unheated greenhouse. I've found the North American Natives can be as beautiful as the South and Central Americans. And is some cases the Natives are as beautiful and have different personalities as Oscars. My Bluegill reminded me of Oscars in that he knew who I was when I entered the Greenhouse and was always in a rush to get to the feeding spot. He would even take food from my hand just like the Oscar I had years ago. Great vid of your local Natives which will always have my interest now days.
I agree with that. All the fish in the US are just cold water versions of tropical fish. Now that’s not to say there not unique I’m just making connections to common tropical fish. Sunfish are like cichlids, shiners are like tetras, etc.
For me, native fish are half of the hobby. They are so unique compared to exotic fish and they are special in that they are local to your area. Some fish you can't even find a tropical alternative to! Darters specifically are something unique to us.
I am definitely considering ordering from them. I’ve always been able to collect fish that I want so I haven’t had to order them. I also have never ordered fish online so it will be an interesting experience. Thank you!
