JIm, It was FANtastic of you to come and play with us. It was a joy to see how you personally brightened the day of so many traditional archers. Thank you! for taking the time to make something to be treasured out of the video footage. :-)
Just really repeating the same as everyone else here Jim, mate, you're a bit of a legend really. Seriously Jim. I don't think you realise the help and guidance that you've given so many people through your videos (me included). I was hooked on archery the first time I tried it, and glued to your you tube channel ever since. Your instructional videos have helped me no end, and your trips around the woods are a joy to watch. Of course you were recognised buddy, we're all watching you on the internet! Glad you found your mojo and are back out there doing the best sport in the world. P.S. I'll be ordering that pro string shortly and thanks for the advice.
Jim, your lesson of shooting 3 arrows into a paper cup and then backing up has helped me so much to shoot at different distances. Thank you for your help, it's made a difference in a small part of my life, that I will carry with me the rest of my life. I also share it with anyone that wants to try it. Thank you!
That was a great ETAR video! It was so nice to meet you and shoot with you Jim. The first time I typed traditional archery into RU-vid 4yrs ago the first video I clicked was you making arrows. I didnt even know people made their own arrows at the time or that there were even RU-vid archery channels in existence. Your love and enthusiasm for traditional archery was just what I needed as a newbie..and is still a staple of my RU-vid archery consumption....soon after that we met Gregory Richards in the woods on a 3D course and found out about his channel too.. and then we found Jeff and Leifs channel.. I now program new archers using your channels lol To see all of you at ETAR together was surreal. This was literally the best ETAR yet. And I hope you understand that now you have to be at ETAR Every year bro..you're part of it now lol
The way you explain archery, your experience and your humbleness, are what has inspired me over the last few years watching you, which started whilst you were with Merlin Archery. I loved this video. Gregory is another inspiration of mine and it was truly amazing that he made that happen for you. You're currently making a bow string for my Dad's 1968 Bear Kodiak Hunter. He passed away in August, before I could finish refurbishing the bow for him. I know when the string arrives it'll be awesome. My top 3 inspirations in traditional archery are: Fred Bear, my Dad, and Grizzly Jim. I've met the first two. I'm so happy that going to ETAR, lit that fire inside you again. Take care Jim.
Of course you were recognized! You've done more for the world of archery than anyone I know. I hadn't been where I am today with my shooting, without you guiding me through all the steps. All from gripping the bow, the release, the spine of my arrows. All the small things to the more advanced. You even helped me pick out my first bow. When I'm at a shoot here in Sweden, your name always pops up somewhere. So I'm extremely happy for you to visit etar. You are well worth it! Best of luck to you from Sweden
Great video. No need to feel guilty, that is what friends do for each other. I was happy to just be a little part of it. I also see one thumbs down, gee, I wonder if that is from a certain archer from a nordic country?
Great video, Jim. So happy the see that you make it to ETAR. What a nice guy Greg was for getting this together for you. Keep smiling and shooting, Dale.
So glad you got to go to ETAR and that you had such a memorable experience there! Thank you for all you do and share in the archery world. You are one of a kind Jim!
i stopped shooting for awhile inundated with life and school. i felt like archery was gone forever for me at one point until i decided to go out and start shooting again couple weeks ago. I'm glad i did, there's a few things in life that help clear my mind and put things into focus and i believe archery help me just that. you have been a huge inspiration for me and to trad archery community for sure Grizzly Jim. I hope to go to ETAR 1 day and shake your hand and thank you.
Jim, I'm so happy to see that you had a great time and that you are feeling better about archery now. ETAR is a great time and so many people look forward to it every year. A big thank you to Greg and everyone that hosted you and helped you have a great time there. It was very big of them. I live in upstate NY but was unable to go this year. Dont give up hope of a repeat trip over, you'll get to come again some time. If you get in to Rochester NY I'll take you out on the town and we'll have a Garbage Plate for dinner and some Buffalo Wings too!
Well, stumbling across your vids a year ago was the reason I picked a bow again, and now have got my kids involved, all traditional style, in the new TBH class. Keep up the good work.
Jim you rock! I just started watching your videos. Have been watching Greg and Jeff for awhile, but haven’t watched you tube for a minute. I saw the worlds video and have to say I know what that feeling is like. You can be a 190, 180 shooter then target panic comes and boom you shoot a 133 with 5 misses. Really enjoy your videos and like I said you rock and are really good for archery!
Great video glad you had a great time at etar..thank you for all your instructing videos you help me on my traditional archery a lot.... When I started watching traditional videos yours is the one I started watching first then I started watching Greg Richards and nusensei and thanks to the three of you I'm doing a lot better on archery.... PS thank you very much for making my Grizzly strings and grizzly balls ones on my Bear Grizzly bow the others on my take-down recurve keep up the good work on the videos Good Luck on Grizzly strings and I'm glad you had a great time here in the US
Now that I am old, I find that the things that I treasure most in life are the great memories. It was my great pleasure to drive to the east coast and shoot with Greg and Jeff not long ago, they are great people. I hope that when you are old and sitting in your rocking chair on the front porch that ETAR will be one of your great memories.
Great talk about your experience. I only have a four hour drive and have yet to go. Maybe this year. You’ve got a big heart, Jim. All the best to ya, dwc
Mr Kent!! (Master Bow Theif) So glad you could make it to ETAR and that you found that spark again. Keep on keepin' on buddy Hope to see you in the UK sometime :)
I would love to go one year!. There is not a large following/ love of traditional archery in Australia. It's beautiful to see so many people passionate about traditional archery coming together at the one site.
Damn it, stop being so humble :). You've worked hard and being very passioned about traditional archery and you have helped and inspired a lot of people who's new to archery - me included. To quote Robin Hood Archerys comment below "how about Eutoar" cause there is definitely nothing like ETAR here in Sweden where i'm from, here it's more old grumpy guys who's only into it for the score and there is no community at all.
Well i think of its as karma mate. You give good vibes and videoes to everyone then you get something back. I watch you and nusensei and 3d archery / trad archery 101. And all you guys have learnt me so much about shooting a bow. Wish you people all the best
That was a great video Jim, now I don't know why but when you said you were going I, probably like a lot of others?, was excited for you as I like to see nice guys get on. 👍
Jim, good to see you enjoyed yourself here in the Colonies:-). Maybe next time your buddy JT can come over with you. I guess no matter where you go in this World people are amazing, especially when you all speak the same language, Trad. Thank you.
Well just noted a comment on the best traditional archery events are in the USA..... Well I don’t agree with that at all!!! Germany is also a fantastic place to shoot and the atmosphere is relaxed funny and fantastic as well, totally free of pressure unless you are wanting to win or qualify for something else. We had a shoot for fun last weekend and 140 archers turn up.... no prize (yes ... sorry a sausage from the local butcher) in the pouring rain 🌧 We laughed so hard it hurt....
I'm going to the next one. I hope you get back there again sometime. Hell, let's do another go fund me this year. Maybe I'll see you there some day. Glad you had fun!
Totally get the "experience it with my own eyes" thing. I am usually in charge of taking pictures of whatever we are doing as a family, since i am an amateur photographer of sorts... But sometimes i'd intentionally NOT take my camera, because i want to ACTUALLY see things, instead of checking them on the camera screen, making sure the picture is well lit or framed... Sounds like this trip was quite the experience! I friendly envy you :) Isn't the Internet amazing?
Greg Richards is a fizz ball of enthusiasm and a decent man, I'm not surprised to hear he stepped up to help a fellow archer, not surprised at all. MAGA
