Man we gotta build Ragnick a statue for real, never heard so much positivity around our team in a tournament, the fact that us reaching the semifinals is not totally unrealistic is actually nuts, wether we do it remains to be seen, Turkey and Netherlands/Romania won't be easy but if we can keep our level from the group stage... man... we might just do it.
This is definitely one of the more balanced international tournaments we have seen in a while. I feel like there’s a million ways this bracket could play out. Nobody is genuinely safe
Denmark play their best games as the underdogs. It’s always been that way. Euro ‘92 winning it by replacing Yugoslavia and playing against teams like England, France, Netherlands and (at the time) reigning world champions Germany in the final. Euro 2020 nobody expected them to reach the semis and they (in my opinion) should have reached the final. Their best game so far this Euros was against England, so I think Denmark-Germany will be an interesting game
Exactly, how clueless can he be… he thinks that the fact that a team concedes goals and chances means the backline is bad. Midfield is a big part of how a team is defending/attacking.

romania looked good but the belgium game was hard to watch with how many missed chances and you dont get many chances against netherlands. I could definetly see it tho

In the game with Romania they gave everything because they need it badly the 3 points. They look like Belgium from 2018. But with Ukraine again they go back to their weird/passive game. 😂 But Romania is no match for Netherlands. 3-1 for Netherlands. Easily. And I bet Netherlands will go until semifinals with this easy path, where they don’t meet any big teams. Really lucky to finish on 3th place and get such weaker opponents! But Netherlands won’t go further than semifinals.
Spain. - positive football. They do have a ridiculously high foul rate and that's because they lack powerful and strenth. That was ok at the early stages when shirt pulling and nippy little fouls were tolerated but the refs are getting wise and I fear that may impact on Spain as we reach the latter stages. Expect a two yellow bans and maybe a few reds
hardly a shout at this point, if you said it pre-tournament on the other hand. effectively they only need to beat a poor Netherlands team and they're in the semi's

One thing for sure is there is going to be an upset and often, the teams who peak too early often go out at this stage. So, I know it seems wild but Spain- Georgia is a potential upset, Turkey- Austria less so because Calhanoglu is suspended. Belgium could upset an underwhelming France. I think Germany England and Portugal will go through. The two I am expecting upsets in are Romania to beat Netherlands and Switzerland to beat Italy but watch out for Spain-Georgia and France-Belgium

They are by far the best team in this tournament. Plus they have no egos on that team. They play team football. Only team able to stop them is Germany because they have home advantage. If they get past Germany they will win the Euros.

Man Utd beat Man City in a one-off game although Man City's 'system' is far superior. France lost to Switzerland at this stage in the World Cup. No one saw that coming. Georgia just beat Portugal. I'm just saying it's possible. These last 16 matches can get very tense because there is more at stake than group stage matches or qualifying games for that matter.

@@AllMenMustServe - You could be right but the last 16 will definitely create some upsets. So it's possible. At the last Euros, France won their group and lost to Switzerland, Netherlands won their group and lost to Czech Republic and Sweden won their group and lost to Ukraine.
@@drdavid1963 the upsets I think can happen are Belgium, Slovenia, Romania and Switzerland. Locked in for me are Germany, Spain, Austria and England. I’m 100% sure Germany and Spain will go through, 90% on Austria and like 75% on England.

Portugal lost yesterday badly and one of the reasons was the coach, yes. But, the team that will face Slovenia wont be anything close to the one that faced Georgia, talking about players, and I hope, talking about the formation as well. Will be a pretty similar game, Slovenia will park the bus and Portugal might struggle but at the end Portugal is still way more favorite to win the game.

If a group of players can't play together then the blame is on the manager. We all know that squad should be performing better together. Not bringing a left back to the euros? @@0xmoo 100% the blame starts with the FA. I agree with everything you’ve said. When it comes to the players though, I feel like a majority of the decision making on the ball has been terrible. First thing that comes to mind is Foden carrying the ball to the edge of the box, shooting into about 3 opposition players when Kane had made a perfect run into the box. I’m reluctant to put any blame on Trent though, because he’s clearly out of his depth in midfield at a major international tournament. I was mainly referring to this tournament but I do agree with you about the past too. Ultimately though, I think the players are talented enough to be able to find solutions in game and they don’t even seem able to do that. That’s mainly why I said there’s blame on them too. There was definitely a way he could’ve made it work by picking certain players he left out, a couplet that weren’t even in the pre tournament squad at all, but that’s a entirely different conversation

Really? This EUROs has been my least favourite I’ve ever seen. None of the big teams are playing as good as they should bar Spain, every other goal is an own goal and there hasn’t really been a standout player at the tournament, plus Ronaldo’s been shite which is sad to see as I used to like watching him play. It’s just been boring honestly, Turkey vs Georgia and Austria vs the Dutch were the only great games of the group stage imo
Most likely upset is Italy. You can never count them out. They play the game in a way most people don’t understand and they seldom lose when they have come this far.

I think portugal will win this tournament, but they need to be more direct with the ball. Stop passing the friggin ball back to the central defenders. Keep the momentum forward, cut the ball through the opposition defence and use your damn legs. They have more than enough young talent to run with the ball.
Hell nah, even if they somehow get past France/Belgium they won’t win vs Germany or Spain. I’d even go as far as saying they will really struggle vs Slovenia. There’s no aura in that team. They don’t play team football. It’s basically a bunch of great individual players with a clueless coach commanding them. Kind of like England.
Portugal plays way better aggainst teams that dont give us the ball to play, so I would say the harder game would be Slovenia, France or Belgium doesnt produce enough but they like to have the ball and give space.
