Always make the worst-case assumption: if the relationship doesn't work out, what is the most that you will lose and what is the most that you can get out of it? E.g. in balancing personal development and a relationship, the skills/knowledge/advancement that you gain will stay with you regardless of how the relationship turns out. When a relationship ends, both parties often lose more than just the time and money invested. It's called opportunity cost, really. As individuals, no matter where we are in life, we must be able to hedge.
I'm currently in a LDR, but recently i have been in a set back in life and is pushing the person away as I didn't want the person to suffer with me. I do hope she stays, really mixed feelings. There's also some insecurities and uncertainties between us...
Im in LDR with my bf for almost 5yrs now. He comes back twice a year for about 2 weeks. I fly over to visit him once yearly during this 5 yrs. We also schedule 1hr video call weekly
