The Spanish will stare continuously. I don't know if we stare more at black people but I know that also white people comment that they notice it. It's like personal space, we won't care we will look at anything that interests us. Walking with my black american girlfriend she used to say "They look at us because they are envious" but I think here in Spain it's less deliberate, it could be they are just reading the text in your tshirt ore they are bored. You say that all black people in Spain are all poor, it used to be 20 years ago but I think it's no longer true. People that arrived some years ago have grown and most importanty they had children who speak Spanish as anybody, and had more opportunities. Also some have married people with more money. Here in Galicia you have some famous black people like athlete Ana Peleteiro, pianist Hiwot Vilariño, DJ Carlos Jean, and in the rest of Spain singers Nia Correia, Famous Oberogo, Lucrecia and Concha Buika, journalists Desirée Ndjambo, Francine Gálvez and Andrés Montes, actress Berta Vázquez (it's an artistic name, her real name is Birtukan Tibebe), etc. There is still people selling on the street but those are the ones that recently arrived.
