Just learned that when you are on hormonal birth control of any kind, you don't experience a real period. It is called withdrawal bleeding. Basically it's the excess hormones that get released. The purpose of birth control is to prevent ovulation, however without ovulation mensuration cannot occur. Thank you Jess for making this video!

I’m so sorry about the ovarian cysts! They absolutely suck. I had surgery a couple months ago because I had an ovarian cyst the size of a softball (right ovary) that had to be removed and one the size of a golf ball (left ovary) that had to be removed, as well as 6 little ones that they ended up removing (could have some still left, but they were too small for my surgeon to get too). Praying that yours gets better and that they go away!!

@Brittany Have you been checked for PCOS by any chance? There are atypical cases that don't struggle w/ weight gain. I have endometriosis & have had 3 endometriomas (besides functional cysts)....3 surgeries. Finally had it done right, wide excision surgery (gold standard surg for endometriosis).
@brittanykarlena
@brittanykarlena 3 года назад
@@janetatum8966 I got checked when I went in for surgery. I don’t have PCOS or endometriosis. I actually was born with these cysts (there dermoid teratoma cysts). Just something I will have to deal with throughout life. Surgery definitely helped because of removing the very large cysts. My surgeon is top in my state for issues like these and he said these cysts are out of my control and take years to grow. There’s nothing I can really do, due to likely being born with them! Just have to be checked by my OB every 6 months to a year to see the size of them!

@@kaarinamiller3999 calendar method is not q real method in my book. You can't accurately predict anything, especially if your cycle is anything other than the standard 28 days. Save yourself the stress and get actual bc. There are currently a lot of ads for this weird calendar method app with a thermometer and if you actually read about it, many women had to get abortions because of it, angry and disappointed that they weren't treated seriously and that the company had no consequences for this. Jess! This is so helpful in every way. I related so much to this - listening to you talk about this topic really helped me. I was on the pill since I was 19 and 5 years later (now) I just got off of it 6 months ago. I had similar side effects while being on the pill and as of now I don’t think I would ever get back on it. It’s amazing how naturally in tune you get with your body once it leaves your system! The only thing I do deal with like you mentioned is feeling strong stabbing pains in my ovaries every now and then. I had an ultrasound a while back and there were a few cysts on both of my ovaries. I just wanted to say thanks for bringing light to this topic. As a 24 year old woman trying to figure out adulting and the stuff ‘they’ don’t tell you, this was truly helpful to hear I’m not alone💕

I went off the birth control pill 5 months ago after years of taking it. After a few weeks my skin got really bad for a while and I also experienced some heavy anxiety attacks. My doc told me that this can happen as the body tries to restore its hormonal balance on its own. I get very anxious before I get my period now but I'm still happy I did it! I'm also lucky that my period came right back.

I stopped with the pill in november and for me the only thing I was worried about was my skin. When I started with the pill I had a lot of acne and the pill got rid off it. So I was really worried that it would come back after I would stop taking the pill, but luckily, almost 5 months later my skin hasn't been this clear without taking the pill and I'm so happy and I'm glad I made the decision to stop. For me there were just 2 reasons I started in the first place and that was having a boyfriend and getting rid of acne. But because of our relationship ending and me only taking it for my skin, I knew I had to stop because I didn't want to give my body these hormones I clearly don't need. Thank you for talking so openly about a topic that should be talked about more 💛

@@annapl4904 I suppose she could possibly be doing the natural method or something that messes with her hormones less ! In the beginning she slightly mentioned how it’s was something she felt God was speaking to her about for a while. A lot of Christians feel like it goes against God but they also don’t want to have all these babies haha. So it’s a touchy confusing decision. I’m not Jess but thought I’d share - I’ve been married for 4 years and have never taken the pill (and haven’t gotten pregnant!). My husband and I use FAM. I take my temperature every morning and use the app “Natural Cycles” to chart my cycle. It has an annual subscription fee. We also use condoms for the first ~10 days of my cycle which is when you’re most likely to get pregnant. I would recommend the book “taking charge of your fertility”, and the RU-vid channel “femme head”. Hope that helps!

Who is this woman? This really just touched my soul. Thank you for this! I decided to get off birth control back in September 2021 after going through a severely stressful time (career and personal life) and just went off of it blindly. I’m currently facing with weight gain, hair loss, and changes in my skin. Finally consulted with my doctor and received a blood test. Thankfully, all is well with my hormones, however, my vitamin d had depleted immensely. I’m currently on a high dosage of vitamin d to get back on track. My weight gain was a result of hormonal imbalance. I noticed it before consulting my doctor and made the conscious decision of going gluten free. Best decision I’ve ever made. I’m not 100% GF, but I definitely consume it way less. I opt for vegan options as much as I can. Thank you for sharing your journey! ❤️

I'm noticed mine change and I've felt so weird and kinda guilty about it so it's so reassuring to know that I'm not the only one. Really appreaciate you talking about it. Loveeeeed the vlog 🥰

I love that you’re sharing your journey through this. I watched so many RU-vid videos when I was thinking about it and doing research and one girls videos helped me so much- so I know you’re going to help so many people! Getting off birth control changed my whole life, and I’m always excited to see someone else feeling those same things! God is using you 💕

I find it interesting seeing your experience because I can't go without the pill. It has improved my period experience so much. I have less pain, they last less long and they're finally regular. I find it interesting seeing how people have different experiences.

Jess you are amazing. Talking openly on such a topic, which is unfortunatelly taken as a tabu nowadays, can help so many girls. As someone who has been struggling with acne for over than 4.5 years as well as painful periods this pill has been recommended to me from both OBGYNs and dermatologists. I have been doubting this in my mind for years, but my inner voice has always stopped me from taking it. Just the idea of putting sth that does not bellong in your body or it is not naturally produsedq doesn't seems right. THANK U SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS xoxoxo

the fact that you just posted the second i’m about to take my first dose of birth control. i’m 17 and have endometriosis with periods once about every other week. i’ve been considering the pill but i’ve also been recovering from an ed and depression, so i’m terrified to gain weight and have my depression worsen. i know God is putting me on this path for a reason. you are like an older sister to me and it’s so refreshing to see a christian talking about the subject❤️

I’m 16 and I have been struggling with really irregular and most of the time nonstop periods since I got it when I was 12. I was on the pill at 13 as well as progesterone pills but that ended up creating more problems with my mental health. A couple months ago I got diagnosed with PCOS and watching your vids in general but also especially on these topics makes me feel like everything will be okay so thank you for this Jess🥰💕

Facts facts facts. Not just the risk of getting pregnant but the whole process of getting off the pill, seeing multiple doctors, getting scans, etc is not something everyone has access too in America bc our messed up Healthcare

I can’t afford a family but went off the pill because it depletes your body of nutrients, increases your chances of depression and breast cancer, and simply throws your body completely out of whack ... all things my doctor did not disclose to me prior to going on the pill. We have been taught to fear our bodies and that the pill is our only option. We have not been correctly educated on how our bodies work to prevent pregnancy naturally and what they need in terms of lifestyle to thrive. I’ve used the fertility awareness method (FAM) for 4 years and I’m not pregnant. The pill is necessary for some people but it certainly should not be handed out so carelessly. I’d highly recommend reading the period repair manual by Lara Briden if you’re considering going off the pill 😊
