I think it's easier because I grew up seeing other Makoti's and it's familiar to me. It would probably be more intense for someone who is not a Xhosa girl. However, it's still an enjoyable experience and I think most families do try to make the process easier for the Makoti, nowadays.

It wasn't easy for me especially because I'm not xhosa and I've never seen anyone experience it before. I'm Tswana speaking and most people around me thought ukuthi ngishonelwe and I'm a widow. I had to wear the blanket for 2 months while living with my inlaws and I wasn't allowed to take it off at all even when cleaning. I'm still traumatized to this day 😪 😞 😔 In my experience most xhosa speakers lapha e Gauteng would lilizela when then see me but majority of the people advised me on how to move on from my dead husband or some would just stare

Lol I'm so terrified for this day... Been married for three years but we haven't done the traditional stuff (family politics) so I learn everyday... And I wonder what I will do for utsiki coz I'm vegetarian and red meat makes me sick

@@MrsResi356 Lol I don't know how you are going to work around having to eat utsiki. Perhaps, if your in laws know you are vegetarian, they will be understanding. Hopefully, if there is no way around it, they will give you a few pieces, like I got, instead of the whole arm. Hope your day comes soon.💗.
