Just for a point of SSRI comparison, when I started Paxil (paroxetine), the desire didn't go away, but the ability to achieve orgasm did after four days, and I didn't have another for two and a half _years._ That was a *_tiny_* price to pay, though, for not being constantly depressed and thinking about killing myself. >.>

BUT in my case, my nausea has never gone away and it’s so persistent that I’m debating on whether I should stop take it or not. I've been taking citalopram (10mg) daily for three weeks and I had a huge increase in anxiety after three days. It was so bad I went to hospital. I live in a rural area and my neighbour kindly drove me to hospital at 4.00am on the day. I wanted an injection to calm me and/or advice on how to stop the tablets. They talked to me instead which calmed me down and I dediced to continue. Since then I've had periods of high anxiety for a few hours here and there, the last few days it has worsened again (so from about day 18 to 21), and I sometimes go for a walk as I can't sit still and have considered going to hospital again but haven't yet. My doctor has prescribed me valium and another anti-anxiety medication to get me through. I am so hoping this anxiety surge is temporary, from what I've read 'the anxiety stops after a few weeks' and 'it can take six weeks for my system to fully get used to it' - so all I have to do is wait. Can people reading this, who had anxiety early on when taking citalopram - which later went away - please comment on their experience, and also how long it does take to go. Many thanks.

@@gigi644 I found the anxiety wore off after about 3 weeks, just like all the things I read and heard said. Tyler very hot.. No hassle, as I'm some 400 miles away, and about 35 years too old. Be aware you aren't locked-in on this SSRI. I'm on luvox which has fewer sexual side-effects, but treats a different array of disorders. The prozac just-about locked me out sexually, but was very effective under a small dose. If you're happy where you are, stay, but some practitioners are more-and-less willing to try different treatments. There is a period of adjustment if you do agree on something different.

@stevejohnson1321
@stevejohnson1321 4 года назад
I can't say what will work well for you. None of the SSRIs helped me much with being energetic etc. Though I had okay experience with wellbutrin, that one didn't impact OCD too much. The trial-and-error can take a couple of years or longer, so it's best to find a practitioner who is patient and listens.

@stevejohnson1321

The SSRI all work a bit differently. Prozac is notorious for killing erections and generating headaches. Luvox and zoloft not so much. My use of luvox wasn't so different from wellbutrin, but it does help with intermittent explosive disorder, and of course OCD. One unusual side-effect on luvox: I had cold extremities for over 45 years. Now my hands and feet are warm most of the time.

From what I've read, our food supply is one huge chemical experiment. And I remember the junk food I ate 30 years ago when I had similar issues. Doctors were reporting everything was fine and wanted to place me on SSRI's due to my symptoms. I felt like a 60 year old man with issues that would fill a page. I believe in finding the source of any problem, not just masking them. But I DO understand that it's not always possible and you may have to go to several doctors to find one that can find the route cause. After going to tons of doctors, a co-worker recommended one in a small town who was a D.O. and he had studied Wilson's Syndrome. He took time to listen to my issues and even though my blood work (including my thyroid) was fine he tried some thyroid hormone replacements. In short, his analysis was based on his experience and studies of Wilson's Syndrome. He solved all of my issues with a T3 hormone adjustment 30 years ago, which I'm still on, and NONE of my prior issues ever returned. Many issues corrected themselves. You can read more about this online. It may not be YOUR issue but it highlights the problem with our medical professionals who, based on $$, don't take the time to do the underlying research they should be doing, and quickly shoving pills instead. Why did I have to go to SO many doctors to find this solution?? We like to think than when we go to a professional, like a doctor, they'll know everything. Don't EVER assume that! I hate to see a doctor whipping out a prescription pad within 1 min of my health complaint. That's NOT proper medical treatment if you ask me. Try to read about your condition on line using peer reviewed journals. Yes, they are tough to read but do the best you can to become more of an expert on your own condition and some of its causes and treatments. That way you can better evaluate whether your doctor is really trying to get to the route cause of your condition, or merely shoving pills with side effects as a quick fix. It highly concerns me that SO many young people are bring treated with SSRI's. This isn't normal and there has to be a reason. Food supply? Air supply? It's got to be something in our environment causing this.

My vivid dreams turned to distortion and thought I was in another world where it’s normal to walk up to you waist or knees in water while on the streets and forgot my boyfriend of 3 years at the time that I woke up to not only confused why the water was gone but also who the freak was this in my bed. And why does my house look different then the log cabin in the center of a lake with no bridge to it. Took 5 min of knowing somethings not right didn’t freak out totally because it was subconsciously there that I knew it was the meds and I remembered… never took that shit again I was on just that medication and it was 20 mg… took it for a month or so… idk what that was about but my dreams where so vivid I can with out “strain” control my dream see it bright as day as if it was another world and I had the focus no haze to be lead by my guides to tell me how I can create and I actually got bored like you do on a video game with cheat codes and to much detail to bother with so people I created I had to design every detail hair blah down to there organs and personality in all aspects so people where just mannequins that only did as I wanted them to do by command unless I was less lazy and designed them… I gave my self a firework show and plaid the most beautiful heartstring pulling music I could ever hear across my world and decided to create a fair or carnival… no chance of bad nightmares like that in detail because you have to really focus on it… so not scary but really odd to experience god level of consciousness. It was a good experience except the closest thing to a scare but because it’s also anti anxiety it’s kinda not was the forgetting I’m basically not in a dream and forgot what normal was.. that’s how powerful that dream was… hope that was clear as day. It’s not psychosis it was just another form of acceptance anything was possible that my subconscious was trying to point out but it was one time. I think this was a out of body experience and you can get to that level if you meditate naturally. No different then a normal person who has a nightmare once in a blue moon and wakes up sad and wants to hug somone because they wanted to live them more because of the dream. Or checking on them just to know they are ok. Or something… just more awareness and vividness… don’t take with the bad drugs tho… not that I have but I can see that messing somone up and causing trauma or something… even if it’s Mary Jane.

@AntennaMan
@AntennaMan 6 лет назад
I've been taking it for nearly ten years now. My doctor doesn't think it's bad because it's not like it can be abused like Xanax. However, he did say that if I ever felt the need to cope with my problems and get off the meds that an option as well. I stick with them because I get extremely paranoid without them.

This shit sucks. After being on fluvoxamine for 3 years. Prescribed to 30-40 mg I switched to this, I’ve been on it for 3 years. As of 2 days ago I am fully off these meds and feel even worse. The side effects are not worth it one bit. I feel completely numb and dead. My anxiety is so bad even when I was on it. I would wake up in a puddle of sweat every night, lack of social aspect as well. It’s crazy how little of an amount can mess your whole life up. Meds are not the answer to anything.

I’ve been on it for 2 weeks only and I feel so tired and nauseous everyday. I just feel like sleeping all day and I feel really dizzy and nauseous at random times throughout the day. My mouth is also super dry. I’ll give it a chance because I know it’s common to not feel any positive effect for a while at first and the side effects can go away once your body gets used to it. But damn right now it sucks having to go on with my life and work while feeling so exhausted.

No, you feel effects 15m after taking it -- it's not the same as what it's supposed to do to your system over the long haul. But you Will "feel it" right after taking it. He just had social anxiety, so I could see that part of it happening instantly for a while.
