As a twenty year website designer myself. Yes if you move all your blogs from one site to your Showit website platform. This will indeed hurt your SEO in the long term strategy. You should also keep your old website up for the transition phase up to 180 days during the processing. If you do move By Sophie Lee to showit from the original site right now. You will have to kind of start back from scratch because Google is going to have to recrawl EVERY THING. This is called Site-Migrating or re-hosting. Just a little FYI!!!
Showit is perfect because the blog side of it is actually connected to Wordpress so you only need to transfer the blog and make the design but is actually the same in SEO terms. You will be able to successfully pass all your info. You would keep writing your blogs in Wordpress and the styling (visual part) would be directly in Showit. I hope this helps. If not I would love to help you guys.
Another HUGE thing that 90% of people do miss from Showit is when do you have the content such as H1's Paragraphs Texts and everything. For Google to actually read your website from top to bottom. You have to put the items in reverse order. For Example You have a Canvas Layer called Intro. Inside the Intro You have a Heading subheading paragraph Google is going to read it as Paragraph Subheading Heading Unless You change these canvas layers from the bottom to the top Paragraph Subheading Heading So a great way of me trying to remember this is when I designing and putting the Headings, Subheadings and Paragraphs on to the template. The Canvas layers should be in reverse order kind of how if you ever use photoshop layer one is on the bottom and layer two is on top of layer one and then layer three. It can be quite confusing but Google is going to read it in reverse if you don't have it in that order. I also learned that from The Moreno Collective he has an SEO course for showit.
I use the Divi theme, it’s another drag and drop website builder and you can also use it to create posts as well. I wish I had found Divi from the beginning lol. It’s so user friendly and there’s a ton of great RU-vid videos to help set it up.
It is not automatically responsive even tho there is ways to speed it up but mostly you get to optimize it on mobile using your website view as a template.
As long as the H1 is above the rest of the text and the rest of the headings are crawlable, a new theme shouldn't hinder rankings. It may be annoying to go through all the content and make sure its optimized though. I've had themes remove alt text from my images before. It all depends on the word press theme. I will say, after doing SEO for a handful of websites, the easiest platform to rank with for me has been Squarespace.
I had to hire a developer for my company Wordpress site when we decided to update it. Yes, it was expensive but it was well worth taking the headache off my hands and possibly “breaking” something. It’s an investment but time is money and fixing potential problems is money so I say if you’re concerned, hire a professional to at least consult and oversee the move. Save your sanity! 💜
Would you say this is also a great tool to create website templates to sell on Etsy? I use other programs with my freelancing service for web designing but I think this would be a super interesting tool I can implement. Any thoughts? :)
I hope that she is not paying someone to see the thing is I can tell her how to do it I have a secret that I think well I'm going to let her know I think she it's well deserved
