Sharing my perspective so I can help others make the right choice. Should you get SMP done? That's your call. You're cool either way though (and don't forget it!)
Thanks for sharing your experience. I have just completed my 2nd SMP session and went through the same emotional roller coaster as you did after each session. After each session the pigment looked really enhanced and made me feel really uncomfortable and self conscious to a point I even considered getting it lasered off. But by usually day 3/4 when it fades a little it makes it less noticeable and does start to look more natural and less dramatic. For those who are considering SMP keep in mind that this will be as much as a mental and emotional journey and find a good artists who understand what look you want.
Yep! I just had my first session 2 days ago but only the hairlin and I too was a little insecure about it I went around 3 of my female mates and they out the blue is telling me how sexy I am😂they think I just got a fresh cut! so I guess it’s not that Noticeable and if it is they don’t care because it still makes you look nice😄💯
I’ve watched multiple videos on SMP to try to convince myself to do it This one did the job, thanks for sharing your experience! I hope i’m able to get this done soon. But i for sure will get this done.
Sweet man! Definitely make an informed decision. I'll be creating more videos over the coming weeks, hopefully will help. Make sure you see a highly experienced practitioner and ask lots of questions. :)
FWIW your SMP looks legitimately awesome. I've been considering it for years and feel I'm close to taking the plunge. Like you, I'm cool with being bald but I see this as a way to enhance my look and feel a bit younger than I am. I also really felt that nostalgia moment watching Billy Zane. I often picture myself with smp and know it'll look dope but I have this pre-emptive feeling of regret that I'll lose my "bald" identity
Totally! I get what you mean. I think I'll be bald again in 10 or 20 years. I'll enjoy this period where I've got this 5 o'clock shadow but don't mind going back to what I was. I mean, the difference is relatively small anyway. And thanks for the kind words! Appreciate it. I did have a massive freakout just after getting it but since it's softened, I'm very happy with it. :)
@@jaydawg4732 that's great (and encouraging) to hear that you've ascended past the freak out stage. Subbed to you to see how you go over the months/years. Shit I'll probably have it done myself in the coming months through Claudia from SMP Australia. Expensive, but her work is legit (and natural)
Jay, listen, I can say this because you have the same personality as me. Don’t worry. It’s so subtle and light, which is better than define, dark and straight across. Yours looks natural so enjoy it. Even your family didn’t notice. You have no reason to beat yourself up. You look great!
Mate - one of the most authentic takes on SMP so a huge thank you for starters. Really liked how you talked thru your journey. I know it’s been a year so wondering whether you still feel positive about the leap of faith you took?? TIA
Nice one mate! Love the video. I'm about to book myself. I'm same. Fairly comfortable with being bald and one of the team. But I think I will be happy with a subtle look too. I'm going to book with Skalp Manchester. Hopefully I'll look a little younger too! 👍
Your smp looks good! I got smp also I had 4 sessions and it came out great! When I looked up info I was told if somebody says they can do smp in 1 to 2 sessions it’s a red flag and if they do it fast is in 1 to 2 hours I shouldn’t do it! I think people shouldn’t care what others think it’s easy for me to say because I really never cared what other people think! I’m not bald I have hair I’m kinda losing the right side hairline, so I wouldn’t know how if feels to go bald however I always loved the short hair with a bald or number 1 on top with a razor fade with that said it looks 👍🏻
Thanks man! Appreciate it! I definitely agree that if someone says they can do it super fast that you should be wary. In my case, she was fast but a lot of that came from experience. The dots were actually really small, which was what I needed!
Bro I just got done with my 2nd session and I was feeling the way you were in this video. Like what have I done. This is permanent lol. Thanks for sharing and will have to wait for the next 4 days now to see the improvements I saw from my 1st session. Depending on how it turns out I’ll see if the 3rd session is needed.
I have a horseshoe to. Does your bald spot show in the back still because it seems like your smp is very light which is what I want but I don’t want the bald spot to show in the back… and my hair density in the back is very dense where I might need to go darker
I just had mine I’m not sure tho I’m getting mix messages about my smp some ppl said it look like a line on my head some ppl said look really nice I’m going for 3rd session on Monday I hope I’m happy 🙏🏻 p.s ur one looks the nuts man
I had my first appointment a week ago. Everything seemed good as in hairline but after 7-8 days it's faded alot so hopefully the second session is going to make it look alot better
@@TheHeadly911 apparently this is normal they say . Anyway I had my second session done and all in all its helped a bit but you're still bald at the end of the day and i,ve not been hugely impressed
I have alopecia patches on my head and have thinking of this for last 5 years... Great video. I am a similar complexion to you... Where did you have it done? And the name of person please? :)
At what day did u shampoo your hair and used mosturizer? Also when did u start exercising. It seems like every artist has its own time frames and aftercare. Lol
Hey man cool video , I’m on my second session and after 5-6 days the skin starts to exfoliate and I worry it will take a lot of pigment with it ? till the skin in in process of exfoliating like my kid suggested it looks like dinosaur skin all cracked and rough 😂brutal !! . What do you suggest for that ? And do you wash your head in the shower or just splash water on it ,?
I think once you get to day 6 or so you can wash it and use a gentle shampoo. At that point, I don't think you'll have all the pigment drop off, enough healing should have happened for only the excess pigment to shed. It does look weird as it's shedding, I'd just let it shed and not worry about it. Maybe wear a hat for a few days though!
Hi jay , your smp looks really good, why don’t you make video and show us how it looks under the sun and day light. If you can fo it that would be very helpful cause to be honest I’ve never seen someone who make videos about smp showing us how it looks outside. Thank you
Hi Jay! I just had my first session yesterday have a hairline for the first time in 10 years.I think I look great but It’s also kind of upsetting me like my reflection is not really me. I’ve read about this happening to people after plastic surgery where they have depression because their mental self image doesn’t match what they see in the mirror. Did this occur at all for you in the early going?
I went through the same stage as you "my friend" I was contacting my clini. Freaking out how it was looking days after my 1st session. I've had it now for 3 years. I wouldn't turn back time when I had hair. When I look back at photos of hair compared how I look now. It's night and day. I prefer my look. You will too 😊
Are you still happy with it? I just had it done yesterday, and I am stressed. It's good to hear that others freaked out, too. I contacted the artist who did mine and share photos asking if it was normal because it looks bad right now. He said it will be hardly noticeable in about a week when it sheds. I didn't appreciate how stressful this stage would be.
@@smpjourney1506 hello, yeah I still like my smp it's faded down a lot over the years. I was the exact same when I first got mine done. I went from long hair to smp in one day. It took me a while getting used to it. I was always in the mirror looking at it etc and scared people would tell. Nobody has ever said anything to me to. I've been in all different kinds of lighting. You will like it and hate it at first until over the months if settles down and become lighter. I've had mine now for at least 3 years. The only time you can if I let my hair grown in for a couple of days it looks odd. Lol
Very normal. It's meant to fade. The next few sessions will help you get more density and help them check how dark to go (considering how much it will fade). But also, don't go too dark! You don't want the other problem
No worries, I went with Foli Sim (artist was Nat). It was a pretty good job, will make a video with a higher res camera in the coming weeks so you can see it really close up
@@TrentonMcKean it's looking pretty good. I freaked out a few more times but I told another group of friends I had it done and the fact that they hadn't noticed it and only had positive feedback was great. I don't know if it's worth the pain and stress, but I'm comfortable now. It looks pretty similar to the video, just softened a bit
@@jaydawg4732 I think your result looks nothing short of spectacular. I’m more than curious to see your before pics. And a video discussing how you went about choosing your SMP practitioner - and who you ultimately selected - would be helpful to all of those who, Iike me, are still on the fence.
I too am afraid if I get it will people stare I mean people look at me weird now and I wear a hat. I got a wig once from hair club and it was Soo noticeable.
It's something I honestly worry about, as much as everyone tells me it's not noticeable at all. Like, I tell people and they ask me whether I've had it done yet. But I still worry. So, I'd really advise you to shave and not worry about SMP. It has made me think about this way more than I wanted to and I worry about how it looks pretty frequently. If you're anything like me, it's probably not a good idea.
@@jaydawg4732 just had my first session and everything you said about them not really explaining the process or you not knowing if they are executing your idea really resonates. Great video keep them coming
Best of luck! If you trust the artist, you should be ok. Just make sure you specify the type of hairline, colour, dot size and density you want. I brought examples to the session and that really helped.
@@jaydawg4732 I do trust him, there's always that thought of it going wrong though. It's called Joe SMP in Michigan if you are curious to see. He has great reviews so everything looks great to me. Definitely am going to stress the type of hairline I want. Want a natural one and a soft hairline. I'll update you after I get it !
@@yzwme586 definitely let me know how it goes. He seems to do natural and sharp hairlines so make it clear you want natural and bring those examples with you
@@paveljakl Have you changed your mind on your results? I just had it done yesterday, and I am stressed. I am hoping it fades a lot and I end up liking it.
Went to a reception today. Saw someone there. Knew the second I saw him that he had it done. You can 150% tell it's a tattoo on your head. That's just the truth. I told him it looked good. It didn't. What could I say. Save your money folks. It isn't cheap. And you would rather be seen as not having much hair than to try "fool" people that you have a full set of hair that you clip.
dude thanks for sharing, but looks like youre overreacting and over analysing everything. u did one and u was scared after, then relaxed again after few days and you repeated that process x times lol. chill out, it looks great
I don't actually use it so I don't have photos there. But I will make a follow up video in the next week or two about SMP and will have more high quality shots.
