I'm so happy these little guys are doing well in your care! I've been in love with these frogs for YEARS! And I was so excited when people started having success keeping them. I was stoked to see you get a trio and now I'm even more stoked to see them active and seemingly pretty happy in your care. For a while, people were struggling with these little guys and everyone said they spent all their time burrowed and lived short lives. We're clearly dialing in on how to care for them properly and it's making me VERY hopeful that breeders will find success soon! I can't wait to buy a trio for myself in the hopefully near future! Please keep us updated if anything changes!!! We're all clearly very invested in these rotund little guys and are all cheering for your success in keeping them! 😊🐸

Lovely frogs. Personally I think that before making available for pets they should find out everything about them so proper care sheets can be formulated. Also they should only provide wild caught specimens to breeders and only be allowed to sell captive bred from those specimens to the hobby. It will save decimating the local populations that way. All too often new species are rushed out into the hobby for profits with little or no information on how to care for them correctly. Hopefully with your experience with them you'll be able to produce a decent care sheet for others wishing to get these beautiful frogs.

The rain frogs remind me of tomato frogs very similar behavior. They also squeeze!

If you are looking to get into rain frog, instead of getting a desert rain frog, get a Asian painted frog. They got the same round body look as a rain frog, but they are bigger and cheaper because there is a larger captive breeding population in America, and are possibly a pest in parts of Asia. My small colony is very social and actually likes to greet me in the morning, similar to some tree frogs.

I watched this entire video and I literally couldn’t get over the little chonk stack! I zoned out on the first shot of the chonk stack and literally heard nothing after that 😂

It could be useful for you to sift the soil before adding it to the setup, if it’s too chunky… the sifting gives a nice and powdery, aerated consistency and that added aeration also helps compact and conform the substrate a lot better, for when they dig their burrows.

Omg.. they DO look like little walnuts with legs!! So cute Kat! I'm curious about your gloves. Do you wear them to protect you from froggie cooties? You could put down a layer of fine gravel and it would reveal where they hunker down, if you ever struggle to locate them. I've seen other people keep them is a course substrate, kinda like the Fluval aquasoil

WC isn't a black and white issue and imprisoning people for holding wild animals as captives is insane. The problem, imo, stems from the meeting of keeping and cwpitalism. Capitalism turns everything to shit.

After my most recent tattoo session....I can't look at other people's tattoos without thinking about how much that probably hurt. I usually tolerate getting tattooed better than last time 😅 Last time was rough though. It looks so good. So I will definitely finish this one and probably get more 😅

hello! I just found your chanel and wanted to ask how you do it with aircirculation in an "aquarium"? My Dyscophus guineti is currently also living in a huge aquarium with only ventilation on top. Sometimes I take the lid off and swirl the air around manually but I don`t really know if that does the trick... he needs high humidity which the enclosure has and a temperature about 24-26 Degrees Celsius which it also has. I`m still worried about mold. Looking forward to your answer & lovely video, kind regards

as a longtime keeper of amphibians yet never had a rainfrog im based in the uk wales so our laws dont allow imports i believe its captive bred only but i really would love to have rainfrogs tho from people who have had them said "you don't see them much they said allot of the time they are just like potatoes in the ground" but from your experience kat would you say that they are active and are great for experienced keepers ?

Room temp has been working fine for me! (75-78ish) and I do one big heavy mist at night. But these things will vary by where you live!

You got it bro they aren’t fussy to keep. Just look at the size of their abdomen to see when they need feeding to prevent over/under feeding. Don’t bug them when molting

I kinda hope these don't catch on, being wild caught and all. It would suck for the population to be devastated. They're such amazing animals. Their life cycle is crazy. They don't have a tadpole phase.
