I recently got rehired to work here again! In a couple months I will be posting an update video for you all. Please leave a comment here if you want me to answer your question or would like me to cover something I didn't in this video. I would love to keep helping all of you! ♡ :)
Fellow Applebees server here! Welcome back! There's something about the Bee that always draws people back once they quit. I left to go to Outback only to leave Outback and come back to Applebees. We have also had a few host's that have quit and then came back. It's stressful but I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Anyssa Angelica Hey, thanks for the advice! I think the interviewer was impressed when I pointed out when there is a long line, you reassure the customers. :D
It's true, there are a lot of rude people & who end up tipping horribly after making their waiter/waitress do so much for them :\ Thank you for that, I'm sure so many waiters/waitresses appreciate you!! :)
Thank you! As a server we love people that understand how carzy and hard our job can be. To the people that don't tip their servers, go to taco bell so you don't waste your the servers time!
I start orientation tomorrow and though I haven't watched this video yet I see a bulk of reassuring comments under here, can't wait to hear your experience and learn Applebee's myself! It's my first job and so far the interview was not as stressful as I imagined and they seemed very willing to take me on compared to most jobs that prefer experience, even saying that one of their best workers present day had come in as a young first-time worker herself (I'm eighteen but she was 16 starting out, they love her), so I'm hoping things go really well come tomorrow 😊
I have to totally agree with you, I'm currently a host at an Applebee's and I do agree that when it comes to picky customers on the seating it can really mess up the rotation, and piss the servers off when you're double seating them.
Thank you so much for watching Ashley! ☺ I'm so happy that my video helped you! I wish you good luck on your interview✨, you're going to do great doll🌸 Its usually a brief interview with a front of house manager. My interviews with them were more or less like this. I sat down with them, at one location it was a 1 on 1 interview & at another location it was a group interview. You would get asked a couple of questions about you & your skills, as well as past jobs. Hope this info was helpful for you :)
Anyssa Angelica This is exactly how I talk, and if I try talking louder it feels like I'm yelling lmao😭 was it ever a problem when serving?? I start next week and my soft spoken voice is the only thing im worried about lol
Well owners don't give a shit with petty and spoiler customers cause they don't have to deal with them nor do most big corporations have owners who worked tough jobs. So appling the customers only aggravates us especially when working 10 hours days on a Sunday every dam Sunday. While CEOs and board members enjoying the lake with their families or partying at a strip club for those young single men. Im.not a hater, most big companies, their CEOs just can't or will.not relate with the little guy
Haha not wanting pickles on my burger makes me entitled? Jesus. There’s a reason America is known as the greatest most powerful nation on earth. Shut up.
Actually hostess arent supposed to clean the tables or serve any food. And technically thats abuse to your position if they make you do that. Buffalo wild wings made me deal with helping the cashiers, host, to-go, answering phones, and bussing tables and even calling fedex to pick up packages. (With in the first 2 weeks) I ended up getting a different job and leaving buffalo.. Its hard and 9 an hour isnt enough to do all that. Its abuse in the work place.
This was fun to watch considering i’m a server at applebees myself. Except at my location our main priority right now is labor and we end up having to run very few servers on extremely busy nights 😅 not so fun haha
I got a good laugh initially watching the first part of this video. But you know, you actually tell a story here that made this worth watching. Also decently made
Yeah tbh it got easy after a couple days :) My initial thought working in my very first restuarant seeing a floor chart I assumed it would be difficult (because I have a terrible memory) but in reality it wasnt difficult at all lol
Tatyana Smith Your chances of being hired are higher if you say you have restaurant experience or customer service experience at the minimum. Smile a ton, it has honestly helped me & I think it's because they will see you as a very friendly & energetic person which is a great fit for these positions. Dress to impress, it always leaves a great impression on your interviewers. Good luck! :)
One of my worst experiences there was when this guy was rude to me after I nearly dumped a really hot dish in his lap. Totally his fault as I am not to blame for being an idiot waitress! Here is a clue on being a waitress: Be pleasant, try to serve everything that is ordered, take care of your guest and don't be an ass. As a waitress who dumps a hot kitchen plate in someones lap, you may want to work on that!
I’ve been a server at Applebee’s since January but now I’m looking elsewhere to serve. Maybe it’s the location I’m at but it is not good money and even worse, management has cut everyone’s hours down to less than 25 hours a week for some reason.
I’m a hostess at a tex mex restaurant and I’ve been asked if I would like to be a server, and I would but I’m so nervous and scared because I’m so clumsy
No "scheduled" breaks.... Most managers will always give breaks two servers or employees that they think have busted their butts on the shift and if you're only working four hours what's 4 hours you don't need a break but if you're working 8 or more hours they will happily give you a break
Also here in Texas the law states that anyone that works eight or more hours is supposed to have a 15 minute break and that's just the law No Way Around It
I worked for applebees in 2016 too & I hated it!!! the servers stiffed the hosts on tips while we did all their bussing seating & I was told numerous times I was a favorite by the managers and servers but my tips sucked! I was also promised multiple times that I would be moved to carside and they never did...I WILL NEVER EAT AT AN APPLEBEES AGAIN
I've really been thinking about doing this to be honest! What would you like to hear if I pursue ASMR? I was considering maybe reading books, or typing etc. Any ideas on what kind of ASMR relaxes you?
I would work part time. Between 4-7 hours around 4 days a week. I would average around $350 a week in cash tips and about $250 bi-weekly on my paychecks. I hope this helps ☺
@@MostOfMiree Congratulations to you too! When do you start? My orientation is tomorrow and I heard its supposed to dive Right into training which is paid so I guess its technically my first day 😊
It only feels stressful in the beginning when you're learning everything but it gets much easier. Don't ever be afraid to ask fellow hosts or managers for help when it's overwhelmingly busy. I also agree with Arthur. I consistently helped out the servers every opportunity I could. Such as getting guests refills when I didn't have any guests waiting in the front. I would BJs as much as possible as well. That was what helped me to get promoted very quickly. Within 3 months my GM promoted me before hosts who were their for years & said it was due to my work ethic.
Hey, when you worked here how was the pay on average? Also did you have another job while working there? Lastly would you suggest this position to someone who doesn’t have any major bills like rent but does have a $140 phone bill & other monthly payments like amazon prime, hulu & planet fitness? I am also looking to save money... $200 a month if possible? Should I look for a second job too or will this be fine?
Hi Carlita, from what I remember when I worked here in 2016 I worked around 3 to 4 days a week anywhere from 3 up to 7ish hours. So by the end of the month I would average around $1200-$1500 with both checks and tips included. This is all depending on how busy those weeks were and how much customers would tip on their checks. I only worked at AppleBee's at the time part- time and I made barely enough to pay $700 in rent and a few bills. I remember not making enough to save (because I spent majority of the money made on rent and bills plus a few necessities here and there. How much you will make on your checks and in tips daily will highly depend on the location you're working at. That will make the tips customers leave you plus how many hours your restaurant gives you vary. In my opinion, try it out for a month (or up to 3 bc each month varies) of just working this one job and see if it's enough for your cost of living :) Good luck doll !
So, I just found this and I don't know if you still work here, but there are definitely laws in place that requires employees to have breaks. It's illegal in a lot of states to not have a lunch break, and in some (like NYS) require a 10-15 minute break. If you still work here and have those problems, I suggest bringing it up to your manager and mentioning that you can legally bring in a third party to change it. Obviously your choice though!
+Maria Alexandra Hi, thanks you for taking the time to watch this & for leaving a comment Maria :) I no longer work here but I had brought it up to management since I would work more than 4 hours & still would not receive any kind of break. Unfortunately even at the place I currently work at (restaurant in Vegas) does not give us one & they said we signed a waiver when we were hired :(
I have an interview today and I’m so nervous 🥺 I’m scared they won’t hire me bc I’m trying to leave my current job rn. I pray that I get the job or get a second interview!!
Aw good luck! I hope you get the job 😁 Im sure you did great. And if you get a second interview you pretty much have the job! They just want the other manager to meet you as well 😊
I went in and the manager loved me and I had a second interview and everything but they never gave me the job it was so weird, but I got another interview somewhere else and now I’m waiting for them to call me back
Alekzandra Molina are you serious ? The same thing happened to me . I went to their restaurant to eat and I saw a hiring sign . I applied the same day and spoke the the manager (this all happened yesterday) . They haven’t called me back but I hope I get the job . I’m sorry that happened to you , that really sucks . Best wishes for your next interview 💓
I've been wanting to try serving for the longest time now! I work at a mini restaurant near my house and I genuinely enjoy working with food so I figured since I have some experience, serving could be a great fit for me. I know the pay probably isn't that great here but I'm kind of just wanting the experience rn so hopefully I can work at a better restaurant in the future. My local Applebee's is hiring and I really want to apply! 😭any advice? Do you still work here?
literally meee!! my best friend has been serving since she started working and i work fast food at mcdonalds and something has just been telling me to try it. my interview is tomorrow at applebees and im so nervous
@@miiahmayyo Awh yay!! How exciting! Just be yourself and remember to be confident! Employers love it when you exude confidence so that's huge. I hope you get it! 🤗It is a great way to get more exposure. Especially since most serving jobs are pretty easy to get into. Good luck!
I worked at applebees for over 6 years, and we just had a meeting today to let the employees know that we were shutdown as of today. So after 6 years of busting my ass for the bees they gave me a day notice to let us know we where out of a job. Wow! Will never work or eat at applebees again! Thanks applebees restaurant for nothing! And just to let people know at our applebees they had roaches for years that they never did anything about. Most all there food is frozen and cooked in the microwave. Heck we had fire extinguishers that expired in 2016 and it's 2019. So 3 years expired. 🤬
My worst working experience!!!! I've worked in the restaurant industry for over 20+years. But this was a very unorganized restaurant I've ever worked at. Had a management offer, but fuck that place. I'd rather be unemployed.
Txffany _xo Sonia Kashuk neutral matte eyeshadow palette #1 for eyebrow highlight #4 all over eyelid, for a beautiful transition #3 only on center of eyelid #7 for crease Thanks for watching 💕
I personally would recommend getting a server position if you're able to. Because in the two locations I worked at I noticed the host & take out were not promoted to server positions often, they would have to wait forever. If you start off as a server it can be a bit overwhelming at first just because you have to learn the menu, table numbers & how to take orders but honestly with practice it gets easier each time! Some restaurants will still hire you as a server, but you have to tell them that you've had some type of server experience, even if it's experience from another restaurant. Otherwise, they may start you as a host to begin. I hope that helps & good luck!!👍🏼
I know this comment was mad long ago but just in case anyone is scrolling the comments... Easiest hack ever, look for restaurants that don’t have hosts to get your first serving job. If you’re in the New Jersey area like me that’s usually a diner. It’s cheap tips (eggs ain’t pricey so racking the bill up is hard) but gives you experience (I would stay at least six months) that translates into other more lucrative restaurants. That said I work at a local breakfast franchise (so not mom and pop diner) and make 100-150 in a 6-7 hour shift. More on weekends. Lesson being cheap tips add tf up when you’re busy as hell.
For anyone planning to work at Applebee’s, it’s a shitty job. I’m currently working there as a hostess and the amount of drama and inconsistency that goes on is flat out ridiculous. I’m a hostess and I’ve seen it all! I get bitched at about everything including stuff that is out of my control. The kitchen whines when I sit too many people in the restaurant at once...servers bitching when I give them a table and even going as far as to flip their table over so I can’t sit them....having to buss tables on my own because the servers are too lazy....managers picking and choosing which people they want to hold accountable when it comes to bad situations.... not to mention that the corporation micro-manages everything when they visit the store i.e complaining about receiving a drink refill when it wasn’t asked, and complaining about carrying a plate with one hand.
And another FYI, working a restaurant is different from fast food❗️at a restaurant, when you’re working night shift, you do NOT have a clock out time. You have to stay there until they say you can go, and there’s been so many nights where I stayed for countless hours when I wasn’t suppose to be closing or when it was completely dead in the restaurant. It sucks :)
+Rebecca Smith I'm not sure if every single Applebees does but the 2 locations I worked at did make the servers & bartenders tip out the hosts. Yes the servers have to prebus plates but when it's super busy they don't so the host will as well as bussing the drinks & anything else left on the table after guests leave. Hope this answers your questions & helps :)
+Love Pink Good luck on your interview! I hope you get the job :) The tips do get split but not between servers. For example, each server gets their own tips from their section's tables. At the end of the shift you will do a "check out" and included in that check out is where it will show your total sales from that shift. You take 2% of that total, not total tips but total dollar amount of food, etc. that you sold, & give that too the bartender that is closing. The bartender then splits all of the tips they receive and give a percentage of it too the hostess that are working. I hope you found my video helpful! Please subscribe💖
I play for Applebee’s and I just want to know what is the holes Do First-rate it to be a host at Applebee’s I just want to know and I just don’t want to get like nervous and mess up
Katetopia Hi, I hope it goes great! :) I remember some of the questions asked. Such as; Describe your favorite dish to me & try to sell it to me. Now describe & try to sell your least favorite dish to me. How would you handle a situation with an unhappy customer? How would you handle a situation with an intoxicated guest? Questions like that & more customer service oriented questions.
I went to Applebees one time! I HATE cigarettes! I can smell them from a city block! I went to a n Applebees one time...never been back! This is a nice looking lady though.
I don’t know much about interviews, but with serving; Stay on your toes. There’s always gonna be something to do. Anticipate what your tables want, ergo stay on your toes. If you anticipate, then your tables will not be left waiting. Learn your Micros screen and difficult orders. Especially when starting out, check what you ring in. And then double check in that back. Learn what needs priority and how to multitask, ie find the rhythm. Efficiency. Learn how long it takes to make everything on the menu so that you know when to go looking for your food. Dont hold your table hostage. Cash your table out and send them home. If you get slammed, putting in orders is priority. Get the order as soon as possible and ring it in ASAP. That should give you at least 10 min before you have to look at them. Everyday there is something new for you to learn. There’s a way to better yourself. Pushing yourself is what’s going to give you success.
Unfortunately they didn't let me since I would run food if it was busy & they needed me to. Where I'm currently working at Bjs Brewhouse they allow their hosts to wear their hair down but no one else.
I'm very soft spoken & this was my very first video on RU-vid so I was a little camera shy. But my future videos will be a louder than this & I'll have a microphone as well 😊
I've not Tipped 1 time in my 37 year old life. It was at an Applebee's bar at around 2 AM. The Bar Tender lady was having more fun with her lesbian friend then getting me and my buddy our second beer. 0 tip on a 60 dollar tab and she deserved it.
@Anyssa Angelica Hello Anyssa you seem very Nice able to go with the flow. I would like to give you my experience as a customer at Applebee’s where I live in California. (I apologize in adVance If it’s to long.) when I go out places I like to try and make friends especially if I like the atmosphere planters visit often. Why not often I won’t go alone so making friends makes me feel I am not alone so much even though I arrive that way. I have a disability so you use a Manuel wheelchair. Normally I would not mention this because it is not important to any of my other interactions but I feel is To I am going to let you know. One day I went to Applebee’s for lunch soup and CLUB grilled chicken sandwich. Everyone was very nice and very attentive I had taken Paratransit there and I had mentioned to my waitress the time Paratransit on her return. She Quita Send that she would help me the best she could just remind her one is close to when I was going to leave and she’ll look out the door for my ride. But she kept coming back and checking up on me and talking with me I should pass by 30 seconds to a minute there and usually others bring the drink and bring the food but she brought everything and this would happen most every time I had lunch there she would take personal charge of me I never and anyone else serve me in anyway shape or form and Applebee’s it was always her. And after a while if she thought somebody was going to bother me or if I need extra assistance she will come over and check to see if I was OK and if I needed help in any other way and she couldn’t do it she would ask someone else to take me and help me out the door etc. and so on Pages for me when I felt it I would get a thank you card and I will put a little something in there just for her because I knew you had to split the tips which is fine I put at the tip on the table but every once in a while especially on a holiday or something like that. When I thought it I would put something extra in the card that was meant just for her. And one day when I was there for lunch it was Valentine’s Day and I brought her some roses and a card and she ran up and hugged me and I want to see her later she had tears in her eyes and smile on her face and she knocked down close to me I look me in the eyes and said I was going to remember her on Valentine’s Day and I was introduced to her mother the following week and Applebee’s when I had lunch again. I started going on to have lunch and I’m going there to see my friend not to pull her aside or talk to her but just be in the same area as she was I was just happen to be amongst the customers that she served because of her spirit kindness toward me specifically that she took the time to serve me everything and for Valentine’s Day that day I mention she Paid for my lunch out of from pocket and thanked me for the roses And card! Fast forward to four years later February 24, 2020. Please give her another card and I’ll let her know that I’m doing that because I want to be a part of helping her relax no idea if she wants to go get a manicure and pedicure or go to a spa whenever she does to relax I just want to help do it. She said it was very sweet and thanked me very much and she was laughing and said you need to stop and then we had a lock down and that was the last time I ever seen her! I knew she said I needed to stop but this is ridiculous right?! I really enjoyed doing that when I could and I never meant to take her away from anything or anyone I just wanted to do something nice for her because of how she looked up for me and I appreciated the attention from her in that way because with her around I never felt alone. And I’m not complaining I’m not a lonely person it’s just in the coronavirus I don’t want to be alone and I wanted to make friend without having someone to pick and choose for me and say talk to this person talk to that person it’s not about just talking to a person it Is really about who I wish to talk to And get to know. Every now and then when I choose (her mother told me when I Game of the roses to her daughter QUITA for Valentine’s Day she was crying tears of joy well hugging a mother and telling her about me being the only one to remember her Valentine’s Day that particular year. I honestly found that hard to believe because of the personality it’s beautiful! But that’s one of mom told me in the mouth gave me a hug and said thank you she would have questions if someone else did what I have done but after meeting Mensing mean I’m with her daughter told her about me it mean much more to her than me expressed in words. I hope that there Will be something that will happen for you and all the other good employees at whatever restaurant they were brighten your day you seem very nice. Once again sorry if this was too long.
