Your virtue signalling here deprived us to see what this kitchen in the first class lounge really had to offer. Most people do not get the falafel. There were a dozen far more interesting menu options the audience wanted to see, than watching you eat balls of sustainably raised and fried chickpeas on a bed of polenta.
I think, the „extra special thing“ with swiss is exactly the understatement and the normally extremely professional and personalized service, the way you don‘t have to care about anything, they just got the feeling for what is appropriate for you and what not! a thing, I‘ve never ever experienced in other first class products!
Got to fly SWISS business and I got to agree, the food is their best asset. A great variety of options and they just taste so creative. It’s really the hard product that needs some sprucing up for sure
As a flight attendant in the US, I love seeing your travel videos! It’s very interesting to see how other airlines do service and what type of aircraft they use. Great video! Also, I love Dubai! Have fun there 😃
@@Thehealthyflightattendant lol I have a funny story. I was flying from NC to Boston and I was waiting to use the bathroom with my grandpa and the flight attendant complimented my grandpas shirt and I thought she was talking to me so I said thanks and that lead to a really awkward moment 😂😂
I flew with SR (now LX) ZRH TYO in Business call as a tour leader, the most amazing experience in my life. Most of the crew in Business were Japanese and they changed their Japanese traditional dress frequently, and before we landed, I got a call from the captain, there was a tlx from the station manager to inform me that the cherry blossoms bloomed the day of our arrival!
I had their kosher meal on a flight from ZRH to ORD, and it was top notch! Even had wine to go with it. Also, their service is great. The flight attendants were always right around the corner for anything you needed. Also a great selection on Scotch.
I've walked by that HON/First door hundreds of times and wondered if the hallway would immediately scream first class or not - thanks for solving that mystery! Also, yeah, even with short flights SWISS tends to have decent catering on intra-Europe business from my experience, so it seems to be an issue with the caterer. I recently had two SWISS business flights and there was considerable difference between a flight coming from ZRH and a return flight coming from somewhere else. Not just the food but also what came with the food (tray size, cloth napkin vs paper napkin, etc.). That said there was a difference in the plane as well, though minor (A321 vs A321neo). I'll keep an eye next time I'm on SWISS business RT with the same plane. And lastly, that complaint about their selection in the entertainment system is spot on, as well as the internet connection. Even if I expensed the WiFi, I had to limit it as I don't think I could've easily justify having to pay CHF 120 for two of the CHF 60 sessions.
Great video Dan. I love Aviation myself and the fact your self funded you don't have to justify the price :D Your videos are a great way to help people get deals. And also show the rest of us mortals who may not ever get to experience it what its like.
It sounds like it was wonderful flight. The presentation and taste of the cuisine is essential to a first class experience. Of all the reviewers of first class and business class, I love yours. The timbre of your voice and your positive spirit resounds in your reviews. Thank you.
It sounds like the man behind you was from New Zealand! They say their 'e' vowels like an 'i'! People often confuse our accents but the vowels are what you need to listen out for! (from an Aussie speech pathologist haha)!
I came to the comments just to say this! Us Aussies don't speak that way - that's our NZ cousins over the sea who say things like "Fush n Chups" (fish and chips) and "yiss" (yes)...
I understand your frustration about the Swiss Business flight but I believe you should give it another go! Swiss is my favorite airline by far as their soft product is great. Their hard product is simple but elegant in my opinion. It’s not as competitive but being from Switzerland I’m proud to be my go to!
Lovely SWISS flight, one of my favourite airlines, they have a very respectable international economy product too. I would have preferred more visual privacy from other passengers in First Class, to max the experience. That is a beautiful outdoor area at the lounge, I enjoyed KLM's outdoor terrace at Schiphol this past September. Excellent service in their Business Class AMS-YVR. Seat 1K was a great pick because they leave the basket of treats right there, stroopwafels forever.
Fun to fly along with you. Thank you for the wonderful video experience. As an American southerner, I appreciate hospitality (i.e. Morocco) and wouldn't expect that from the officious Swiss.
By the way I really enjoy your videos and how they benefit me when I'm trying to find a good airline to fly with. I'm just as obsessed as you are for planes and hope one day I can have my own adventures. Thanks for the great content.
I tried first class on LX back in July 2019 from Bkk to zrh on their 777 and oh my… such an amazing experience and I agree with you the cabin was bit overheated as well. Your video makes me wanna try again Dan ;) thanks a lot for your. I e content once again
Great review. More importantly, for me, though … excellent production! Super smooth shots, editing, rhythm, everything. Very well done! Have a happy day! And thank you!
My experience was the polar opposite. Swiss was a nightmare. I flew from SFO to ZRH roundtrip and it was worse than the worst experience on any US airline. As a qualifier, I fly every 2 weeks. For many years. Sometimes 2 legs for 6 hours, sometimes 4 legs for 34 hours. I go all over the world. The experience on Swiss was horrible.
I’m glad that you gave SWISS airways a second chance! But honestly nothing beats the luxury and attention to detail middle eastern airlines have put! Qatar and Emirates airways are by far my top favourites always! ❤
I love Swiss! I traveled business and economy class, and they were excellent. Meals in the economy flight from HKG to ZRH had metal cutlery, better than the plastic ones you got in Lufthansa. For the first time snce 911 economy class felt like you were an adult at mealtime. Swiss is the jewel inthe Lufthansa group and I hope their quality remains high and enjoyable.
Great video! The terrace is a winner, have to try that soon! Also, love the part at 6mins 55, you enjoying your food Dan - and the lady in front of you pretending she’s a plane! Haha
At least the Swiss Air First Class Lounge does not have arcane layover timing requirements for its bedrooms the way Turkish Airlines does (which somehow, my layovers always end up being too short, or too long, or my flight not sufficiently long-haul...) 😅
U know I had that exact same experience on my Swiss Air Flight from SFO-Zurich and they looked like they didn’t want to be there. But the rest of the time was amazing
And I thought my fellow Americans were the only ones who can't control their loud voices. 😆You deserve a good splurge, you are living the dream! I love how you still review these experiences with so much joy while pointing out the things that could be improved, it is one of the many reasons that I have always felt that you put together the best flight reviews on RU-vid. ✌
honestly google flights is the best. I live in NJ so I have many international airports within a 3hr drive of me, and just in NJ/NY I can fly out to nearly any European city nonstop. google will suggest flying other dates/airports for cheaper prices. as for F, you're not really going to find many deals. first is rarely, if ever discounted. it will only go up around holidays like Christmas, new years etc. for J you can certainly find deals you just often need to be flexible with your travel dates and book 4-8 weeks in advance, assuming you mean international flights. domestic flights fluctuate much more often but generally speaking if you find a good deal take it as their pricing models aggressively change rates. your best bet is to find your nearest airport that has good premium cabin availability (usually LA/SF, CHI, NY/NJ, MIA) and pick an airline you'd like to fly. out of USA you're really only getting LX, LF, and AF. each with their own benefits and drawbacks but it really just comes down to what part of Europe youre going to. LX can be found for US$5-7k, AF/LH often is $6-9k depending on which/how many countries you're visiting. edit; BA is a very reasonable option if youre going anywhere in the UK area. it is often looked down upon compared to other airlines that fly first but it is also often nearly half the price so certainly not a bad option.
Videos like these makes me really exited to travel with Swiss for the first time this july, tho in economy but considering their good rumor I'm really hoping for a good experience with them.
I miss flying Swiss airlines, I remember they would give chocolate and stuff while you enter your plane. I want to go on Swiss again so bad!!! Anyway Dan I am pretty big fan of aviation and your channel. Travel safe!
I would definitely not have been able to finish all that First Class food O.O It is truly impressive that you managed to finish it, even if it was stretched over 2 hours.
RE: the Australian man talking loudly behind you, given your statement about his pronunciation of "deck", he was perhaps more likely to be a fine New Zealander.
As a frequent SWISS traveler I think a few points from the video should be addressed. Firstly, on my recent flight from LCY to ZRH they did play boarding music! I was a bit surprised since this usually isn't the case but on the A220 they had it and it was a welcome touch for the onboard/deboarding process, compared to the flights from London Heathrow or Helvetic Airways which usually flies their Embraer services from LCY. Secondly, the lack of soft drinks is quite disappointing, but, most SWISS travelers to Dubai are likely Swiss natives or other individuals from Europe, hence less of a need for non-alcoholic options compared to other Middle Eastern airlines and a focus on alcoholic beverages. Finally, most non-swiss natives likely do not actively seek out flying SWISS, compared to Lufthansa or other Star Alliance airlines, or especially airlines like Emirates or Qatar. I think SWISS's target demographic would be locals or those with status or miles to spend that they wouldn't have on other airlines. SWISS's Miles and More program offers attractive upgrade options and probably caters more towards those individuals than tourists choosing the cheaper options. Otherwise, another fantastic review Dan and I hope you continue to enjoy SWISS as much as I do!
Cool like you make fun about Sweden/Switzerland. I'm from Switzerland living in Mexiko. The always ask me: how is Sweden so I tell them, no clue, sadly never been there. Keep going, enjoying your videos.
Thank you for your great review 👍 maybe Swiss will be one of the best first class to North America, also they could upgrade the seat and can I asked what phone you where using for the Wi-Fi scene. Thanks for the first class deals 🙏🏼
I usually fly Lufthansa First outbound from America to Europe via FRA so I can enjoy the First Class Terminal and refresh myself before continuing on to visit family in other parts of Europe. On the return, though, it’s always Swiss First nonstop back home because I can’t wait to sleep in my own bed. I can’t fault either experience but then again I’m not the type of passenger that looks for faults. 😉👍🏻🤣
Great 1st Class, for the price. I think the ground experience looked wonderful with the special lounge, terrace, bus service etc. Does Masterworks pay for your ticket? I flew Business on Swiss earlier this year, but unfortunately, I was not too impressed. There was nothing negative about the experience, but it was simply not as luxurious as some of the other airlines, especially the old Business Class seats on the A330, and yes, the cabin was way too warm. I'd rather travel in a cool or even chilly cabin, so I can layer up and get cozy.
Hey Dan! Can you please do a video on baggage loss in Europe and tips (not the occasional tips like only getting a carry on) but things such as the most reliable carriers in Europe
I think the reason it was all booked out is that your flight was around the start of summer holidays in Switzerland, so many ppl are travelling at that time
I've seen a "massive deck" once or twice in my life. Also my Swiss cousin also complains that us Americans never know if Switzerland is where IKEA is from lol
