Howdy again! This will be my last ride in this area but am happy to show off my fastest vintage bike build to date. This thing seriously feels like it can easily keep up on a group ride with modern bikes! Hope you learn something once again from this video and let me know what you think!

*BIG UPDATE* Plans fell through with moving. It happens… But I’m going to be staying in the same area and will continue to film! I may not be stoked of the area but am thankful it has at least a little biking infrastructure. Stay tuned!

After watching some of your vids I decided to restore and finished my father's triple butted giant peloton with it's campagnolo omega Strada hardox tubular wheels and it's suntour SL components , I would say it got much more attention than my argon, down tube shifting is fun.. steel is real

That is so cool to hear! Never seen in person or tried a giant peloton but online they look awesome. Heck yea not to mention downtube shifters are generally WAY cheaper. And these steel bikes ❤ thank you so much for watching and commenting!

Thanks for your informative videos! I'm a vintage Schwinn collector. I'm currently enjoying riding my Schwinn Sports Tourer '72 model. Most of my experience with friction shifters have been with the stem shifters, which I enjoy. I did just recently purchase a Schwinn Volare, which is my first bike with a down tube friction shifter. I was afraid it'd be less comfortable to shift, but my first initial ride was a lot more comfortable than I thought it would be.

Another Melbourne resident here - Melbourne in Victoria, Australia! Your videos are a joy to watch. They are aesthetically pleasing as they are informative. The build of your Diamond Back is a case in point - you've obviously taken care to colour match the key components. I am envious of your Shimano 600 aero brake levers. They look so right on a 90s bike. I've been looking ages for a pair and could never find anything other than in scratched and grubby condition.

Thanks to people like you, Path less Pedaled and Henry Wildeberry, I got a custom steel rim brake built for self. The one thing different from older bikes is the tire clearance. Will run 32c with mudguards or 40c without them.

That front hub look like a track hub tbh. I have a Columbus MS frame and can appreciate how a stiff steel frame feels like especially when compared to one of my other bikes, a Peugeot PX10, which is built for pure comfort with Reynolds 531 and a raked fork.

That’s what is so cool how different builds have different characteristics from the same material. Thanks for commenting!

Lovely vid! too bad suntour went away as a group manufacturer. This GPX groupset looks awesome!

I know it’s seriously a bummer. But at least there seems to be a ton of GPX components available (minus the darn brake levers) which is good and prices are still good…FOR NOW. thanks again for watching!

I know what you mean about OS tubing being like a rocket ship. My '93 Daccordi Mitico with Columbus EL-OS is quite the beast and can go toe to toe with my S Works Tarmac SL3.
@newoldsteel
@newoldsteel Год назад
That’s so cool to hear! My theory is if other materials never came into play for framesets, that the OS tubing would have really taken off.. but it just makes these frames that much more special. Thanks for watching!

I believe this bike has similar or the same tubing as my 92 Schwinn Paramount (Japanese made not Waterford) which has the Tange OS tubing. The Paramount rides very nice, has the nice ride of steel that we all love but a bit stiffer then most steel with excellent power transfer as NOS points out about his DB. I wonder of DB and Schwinn used the same exact tubing, anyone know? Maybe they were even built in the same factory?
