I'm the same way! I went to Bookcon in Chicago (in May) and they had a panel of booktubers. I was like "what is booktube?" A week after that, I started watching all of the booktube videos that were interesting to me. Now, I am subscribed to like 10 booktuber channels. lol
believe me i too started watching book recommendations video this year and i watch at least 5 or 6 book related videos every day. i am completely attached to it😄😄
Chan Del I’m the same. A Chelsea Palmer video came up in my feed a month ago and it got me hooked on reading again. So far I’ve read 7 books so far this month. Mostly adult fiction.
I've just entered year 3 of my book slump and came across booktube and now my TBR is literally 100 books long. Just need the money to get some of the books
most of the books I read are because of booktubers! the Lunar Chronicles, Throne of Glass, The Kiss of Deception, Anna and the French Kiss, Falling Kingdoms, Divergent, The Heroes of Olympus. the list goes on and on!!!
me toooo. i was completely in dark before i found booktube. i am currently reading shatter me series. the next one in my list is the lunar chronicles😀😀
My Favourite Books - Exploring The Earth and Moon by Patrick Moore Mr Men Books by Roger Hargreaves Selected Poems by William McGonagall, Selected Poems by Colin S. K. Walker Spain 1939, 4 Poems by Jacob Bronowski 1986 RAC Guide Book by RAC
pretty every book I read was because of your channel, thank you for opening a wonderful new door for me, and yes Mistborn and seven realm series were my first books, thanks again.
I'm reading the Throne of Glass series right now. This is probably the first thing I've read specifically because of BookTube (actually, specifically because of your channel) and I'm loving it, though I have plenty of other books on my radar now because of BookTube that I otherwise wouldn't.
Actually, I read Mistborn because of you! You were always talking about how great it was and the plot seemed interesting, so I picked it up and... well, I hated it. Obviously joking, it is a wonderful book, I loved it! So good!
You are totally the reason why I picked up Mistborn. And I was not disappointed. I also started The Lumatere Chronicles because of you. I'm currently reading Froi of the Exiles. Enjoying this trilogy so far. Thanks for the great videos. I love watching them :)
IT IS MISTBORN!!!! When I started watching you I went back and watched a lot of your earlier videos and you talked about it all the time so I was like "I HAVE TO CHECK THIS OUT!!" and THANK YOU for making me read it! :D It is by far one of my fav book series EVER
You're my favorite person on book tube to watch along with Sasha! I love how down to earth you are and all your videos ! Keep doing what you're doing girl!! xoxoxo
Most of the books you recommend I read, specially the Historical Fiction ones. Read Between Shades of Gray and Passenger because of you and loved them! ^^
All the Light We Cannot See just blew me away and was everywhere for a time - glad to have picked that one up. I just finished The Carpet Makers as a recommendation from someone commenting on my channel- turned out to be incredibly good. Do you ever read commenter recommendations?
I needed a book to read for junior English last year and was looking for suggestions and somehow stumbled onto the world of booktube. because of all your guys excitement to read I started reading again so basically right now all the books I read have been suggested by a booktuber Love your channel!
Pretty much all of my favorite books are books that I read because of BookTube, haha. Fangirl, the Lunar Chronicles, and Shatter Me, The Darkest Minds are definitely a few of my favorites that you mentioned. :) I still need to read All The Light We Cannot See!
I'm so thankful I discovered the Mistborn trilogy because of you. I'm almost done with the second book and will hopefully start the third book by March! My tbr list is basically everything you recommend (:
Science Fiction is a genre I never really read. I''m really "meh" about it but everyone on booktube was taking about Illuminae so I was like "okay I'll read it I guess" and OH MY GOD IT'S SO GOOD
I got to the To All the Boys I've Loved Before duo-logy, the Storied Life of AJ Fikry (BEST BOOK EVER BY THE WAY THANK YOU REAGAN FOR THE RECOMMENDATION), Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, The Rest of Us Just Live Here, More Than This...a whole ton of my fave books were because of booktube!
Does anyone know about any other books that are written in a similar way as Aristotle and Dante and i dont even mean the lgbt theme but the book just has such beautiful writing that is so relatable and i haven't come across any other YA book of that sort.
Maliha Intikhab Try The Perks of Being a Wallflower. There are some LGBTQ+ themes in that story, too, but while I was reading Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, I thought the prose was similar to that of The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Or The Catcher in the Rye.
Yes, I will be starting Mistborn soon. The first two Stormlight Archive books are my all time favorites, so I need some more Brandon Sanderson in my life.
I'm reading The Well of Ascension right now, and it's great, as was Mistborn, but The Stormlight Archive is and probably will always be my favorite Brandon Sanderson series.
+sykosam It's so damn good. I randomly came across some stuff on the Wiki today and realized I definitely missed some stuff about the Nightwatcher and how he grants powers and curses. Time for a re-read!
over the past year that I've followed your videos I've read and bought almost all my book because of you (Mistborn included lol) So grateful for your videos and for booktube!
I've actually been reading Furiously Happy because you were talking about it in your February tbr and it looked awesome just based on the hilarious cover. I've really been enjoying it. I've been alternating between the book and the audiobook, because I love reading the little footnotes and seeing the little pictures, but she does a really good job narrating too, so it's been hard to stick to one version over the other.
I have been checking out All The Light We Can Not See forever and I haven't been sure if I would like it. I was so glad to see your review of this book. I will try it now and soon. Thank you.
I've been watching all your videos while I take breaks from studying for finals and I am so excited and motivated to read everything you share!! I am very excited for Fangirl and Mistborn :) Once I can get my hands on them I will try them out!!
I read the Throne of Glass series because of you Regan! Here in Brazil is not that popular and you said so good things about this series that I decided to give a chance and I realy love it.
I use to love reading when I was younger but stopped because ...I got my first DS and started getting addicted to video games but now I'm slowly going back to reading books and I'm loving it!
Oh my god yes! This fantasy and sci-fi book club I had joined were forcing me to read mistborn and after watching your video about your favourite fantasy books I finally gave it a go and I LOVED IT! (Also, Sanderson will be here next month, I really hope I get to meet him *fingers crossed*) And just two days ago I picked up the entire trilogy of the sword, the ring and the chalice because again, you recommended it (And also because I got the whole trilogy for 6 bucks...)
I read Code Name: Verity because of your videos, Regan! And I LOVED it. Mistborn is on my TBR because of you too haha x) I'm pretty sure Booktube got me to read Throne of Glass which is now one of my all-time favorites series ever so I am very very thankful for that
BookTube made me read every Cassandra Clare book in existence. I hadn't even heard of her until I started watching BookTube, and so I marathoned TMI and TID and also read all her other works and now she is one of my favourite authors of all time.
I just ordered the Mistborn trilogy last night! I'm not sure when I'll get to them but everyone and their brother has loved them and I'm excited to give them a shot.
You are right! I see Fangirl,All The Light We Cannot See,The Darkest Minds.I've seen The Lunar Chronicles everywhere so I finally read Cinder and Scarlet.
Not only did I get book recommendations from booktube but booktube helped me get into reading alot more. Before booktube (and after joining a bookclub), I would read just one book a month. And now I get to read a whole lot more which I enjoy very much!!
It's funny that you mention mistborn because I was a little hesitant to read it but watching you talk about Brandon Sanderson made me check it out from the library. And so far I am loving it!!! I also checked out steelheart but have yet to read that one.
Fangirl, Shatter Me and The Raven Boys are also on my TBR because on booktube. I also don't read much contemporary so I'm glad to hear you don't either but still enjoyed it. Red Queen and The Wrath and the Dawn are two others I read because of bootube.
It is huge, but it is such a fast read! Oh and did you know they are coming out with a 4th book and a whole new story arc. I think we are going to read about Agatha learning to be a queen, but that is just me guessing. It hits bookstores in September :D
TDM is one of my favorite series as well now too-- not so much for being dystopian (though I'll admit I haven't grown out of it) but because Alex Bracken is such a great character developer and plot arc crafter. One that I'm about to pick up from your hype, Regan, is the Lightbringer series for which I'd love a series overview video if you have time and interest.
Mistborn wouldn't be the type of book I'd normally pick up, but because of booktube I bought the first two when I saw them for cheap and I plan to read them when I have he time to read such a big book.
Booktube (well you really) made me read The Summer I Turned Pretty Trilogy. I'm not one to pick up contemporary but I saw how much you loved it i had to give it a go. Now it's one of my favourite series :)
I read The Raven Cycle thanks to goodreads and now I'm obsessed with them SO THANK YOU. But I read Rebel Belle, The Darkest Minds, Shatter Me, Throne of Glass (which I don't like at all) etc thanks to booktube and my life has been better ever since
The Lunar Chronicles, I found, was so worth the hype. I rarely read books with all that hype (I shuddered at the thought of picking up Fangirl, tbh, and ended up loving it, even if it's only my type because fandoms). To anyone considering it, I'd recommend it with everything in me. I got so attached to the characters, and i'm still in a zombie state of "I will never be over this book, I will never find another book as good". I'm sure there's better books, but none have ever meant as much to me. If anyone's read it and has some good recommendations that are similar, I'd be grateful to hear them.
something i've learned when it comes to reading non-fiction books: it can be a really good idea to pick up a book and NOT read the blurb. i am currently in college and during Fall semester 2014 i read Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. when i got it from the school library i didn't read the blurb (i don't remember why) and as i began reading the book i realized that racecar driving was going to be something that popped up A LOT in the book. i'm not a fan of racecar driving. however i decided to try reading the book instead............AND I FREAKING LOVED IT!!!!! that just goes to show you that you usually should never judge a book before reading it. also, if it wasn't already obvious, i recommend this to everyone!!!!!!
So glad you made this video because I've done exactly the same thing. I know I would have never picked up the Lunar Chronicles or the Throne of glass series if it wasn't for booktube. All many more books that I could mention.
An Ember in the Ashes was the first ever book I read because of book tube and I'm so freaking glad I did. It has easily become one of my top 5 favorite series of all time (only the first book is out the second comes out this year). Oh and I'm currently reading the Throne of Glass series because of Booktube.
It's really interesting you liked the Raven Boys because I felt exactly the same way about Maggie Stiefvater, maybe I'll give it a try as well sometime ..
It is Mistborn I would have never picked that book up but you gave it such an amazing review. Love it love it love it. It was my favorite book of 2015!
Me too but there also disadvantages like buying and reading things and not liking it (my favourite books of all time are rarely mentioned on book tube) like red queen was A HUGE disappointment
Okay, now I have to read The Raven Boys because, like you, I hated the Shiver series and I made it my life's goal to never read another Maggie Stiefvater book. But since becoming apart of booktube, I have seen so many videos that feature The Raven Boys and everyone loved it! Okay, fine! I give in! It's on my TBR now. Great video!!
I (primarily) started watching Booktube at the start of the year. I haven't had much time to read, but I read the ToG, TLC, and Red Queen series because of booktube.
I read most of the books I read because of BookTube, and out of those, most of them I read because of you! So yeah, I read Mistborn because of you, as well as the Seven Realms series and I'm eternally grateful. =)
Yep. Mistborn. Never heard of Brandon Sanderson before I started watching BookTube videos. Also Ready Player One. Me Before You. Vicious. Falling Kingdoms. So so many!
I have never heard of a school for good and evil, but now I really want to read it. Thanks for the recommendation. I just bought the lunar chronicles this week because of booktube
While you were talking, I was thinking that I want to do a review of Mistborn soon and was kinda startled when you suddenly mentioned it at the end. I didn't read mistborn because of booktube, I just came across it in a bookshop, but it was a great trilogy. Though I think I might also pick up Fangirl now.
Same on the Lunar Chronicles. Others I got into/bought because of Booktube was: Daughter of Smoke and Bone series, Throne of Glass series (which has become one of my absolute favorites), the Mistborn trilogy, and of course the Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices series. So thank you Booktube! lol
I read Assassin’s Apprentice because of you. Have Mistborn in my TBR. It doesn’t fit in my pop sugar reading challenge prompts this year, but it will be read.
Jesse The Reader did a book theme park video back in August. I would love to see what you would come up with if you did that book tag or a similar video!
I read the Shatter Me series because of booktube as well! Everyone was talking about Warner and I was like "I need to know him." But honestly I'm team Adam but I ended up being super in love with everything about those books. I gave the mortal instruments series another go because of how much booktube loved it. I didn't like the first 2 books all that much but when I got to the third, I was in love and have been ever since.
For some weird reason I used to always see videos by 'well known youtubers' where they said that they couldn't get into The Raven Boys, but now everybody loves the series😊 I need to give that series a go. I read a book by Maggie Stievator & although I didn't like the story, I did love her writing style.
I've read the MIstborn series solely because of you. And I loved it! Also, 'The Queen of the Tearling', 'The Martian', 'The Shadow of the Wind', 'A Monster Calls'... basically if you recommend it (and if I can get it here in Brazil), I'm reading it.
Mistborn is up there, but I think Ready Player One takes the cake. Simply for reminding me how fun a quick and entertaining and action packed book can be.
So far the only books that I am reading due to Booktube is the ACOTAR series and I can’t wait to read The Throne of Glass series starting with The Assassin’s Blade! I am loving Sarah J. Maas books!
I haven't read Mistborn yet but it is on my shelves and I definitely picked it up because of you ;) Off the top of my head, I've read The Raven Boys, More than This, The Miniaturist, Station Eleven, The Fifteen Lives of Harry August and Vicious because of (thanks to?) BookTube. Oh and The Dumb House which I'm currently reading too. And some others which I'm sure I'm forgetting about right this second :)
If you loved The Raven Boys, I highly, highly recommend reading The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater. Absolutely beautiful! And my top "booktube made me read it" are Mistborn, Six of Crows, The Winner's Curse, and Rebel Belle. And I adored all of them! There have been lots of others, but these are my fave.
I still haven't read any of the Lunar Chronicles or the Shatter Me series, mostly because everyone still mentions them. But The Raven Boys...AAAAHHHH I love them so much.
Patrick Rothfuss' books and Brandon Sanderson's books are definitely on the list because of BookTube. Well, I've read a bunch of Sanderson's stuff by now; currently in The Name of the Wind.
