I am 53 years old & had been taught my whole life that hair was our covering. I have studied the Bible in depth for many years but had skipped over this subject till Yahweh kept putting it on my heart the past few months. After much research I found the word "covering" in the original Aramaic & Greek was "veil" so YES, it is an actual cloth that women are to cover with, not just their hair. I have found that a lot more women are finding this truth lately too & I plan to start covering today after watching your video on how to do it....Shalom in Yahshua!

+Ginger Walker It take humility to embrace things like this. I am proud of you sister for your choice. Shalom.

Amazing sister. I too have recently felt this was actually necessary contrary to what we are usually told . That this is old fashioned and no longer needed... some other issue confusing my spirit is the Saturday Sabbath... I want to obey but inside me i don't know if it is out of rebellion but I feel it is not a MUST or breaker of ones salvation if not kept strictly on Saturdays... advice please

If Hair were our covering, there would be no need for the Bible to tell us to cover our heads because they would already be covered.

I was taught the same thing growing up. My parents told me women didn’t need to cover their hair. I went to a Mennonite school for a couple years and still didn’t believe in head coverings. I didn’t get the conviction to cover until recently. I read 1 Corinthians 11 and realized it didn’t make sense for my hair to be a Covering. Then I found out about the Greek meaning. I knew then that I had to do the right thing and cover.

Beautiful! The Lord has recently guided me to head cover. I prayed much about it, resisting at first. But I'm happy covering and looking for different styles. Thank you for your time making this video for us newbies. I get comments/persecution even at church. Started wearing skirts three years ago, now this. 🙂❤🙏

Thank you for the variety of head coverings! I will be wearing a head covering when I study the Bible with my male, baptised friend. He is quite disabled and not capable of taking the lead in Scriptural studies. Each time we study, I will wear a head covering since the man is head over the woman (Christ being head over the man and the congregation). So, I will not be wearing it every day or all the time. Only when I must lead the Bible study with my male friend.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I loved them. So beautiful. I felt called to cover a few years ago and have found so much joy, peace and comfor in it. And I feel way less attacked by the enemy. My mind is way more calm and at peace since covering. I'm assuming it has to do with the section about our covered heads being a symbol of us being under authority to angles in 1 Cor 11:10? Covering has really helped me to humble myself, especially in a world of looks and outward appearances meaning so much, which sadly is even in the church. We are called to be set apart, different, unusual, spotless, and blamelesss, not look and act like the world around us. I was called out publicly for it in church from the pulpit which was so embarrassing, but I didn't let it get to me too much becuase people have been taught differently. And yes, when God called me to cover, I struggled with the feminismic attitude of not wanting to humble myself under my husband. I grew up in the church and had never known anyone to cover and never heard teaching on it, so I can see how people simply don't understand it. In my research I studied 1 Cor 11 for months and months. Especailly looking into the meanings in Greek. The word for covering in 1 Corthians 11:4, 5,6,7, 13, is the word, katakalýptō, from katá, "down, and kalýptō, "to cover"-cover down, to make appropriate (complete), i.e. to wear a veil. It is the same word used for the veil that separated the Holy of holies from the priests. It is clearly taking about a peice of fabric. But vrs 15 does NOT use the same word for covering. Vrs 15. "but if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For her hair is given to her for a covering." This is a different word for "cover"= "peribolaion," that which is thrown around or a mantel that can be thrown around (As in when a women tosses or throws her hair around, or a mantel that rest on the shoulders. So hair is considered long if it touches the shoulders) tossing the hair can be very alluring to men. This is where we get the saying, "Let your hair down." Up until only the last generation woman covered in Church. It was only during the sexual revolution that Chriatin women in North America stopped covering their heads. ALL of our grandmothers would have covered in church. This is why the Hutterites, Mennonites, Amish, orthodox churches, and messiniac Jews (Jews who beleive in Jesus), a lot of African congratations, etc still cover their hair. We are not supposed to be like the world. Thank you so much for sharing. Also, here's some verses in the OT about head covering if anyone is interested. Hope these help if anyone wants to read them. Isaiah 47:1-2. Come down and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon; sit on the ground without a throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans! For you shall no more be called tender and delicate. Take the millstones and grind flour, "put off your veil", strip off your robe, uncover your legs, pass through the rivers. (So as we can see, even virgins were to keep their heads covered and save their hair for their husbands. Otherwise it is like they are showing all their nakedness). Numbers 5:18. Then the priest shall stand the woman before the LORD, "uncover the woman’s head," and put the offering for remembering in her hands, which is the grain offering of jealousy. And the priest shall have in his hand the bitter water that brings a curse. Also Genesis 20:16 says in the Hebrew Then to Sarah he said, “Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver; indeed this is "a covering for her eyes" (to put back on her wedding covering) you before all who are with you and before everybody.” Thus she was rebuked. From what I understand In Genesis 24:65. Rebekah covers herself because the bridal price has already been paid. 2 vrs later we see Isaac take Rebekah bright away into his tent. There was no wedding ceremony. Her covering herself was an outward show of her marriage to Isaac. Since they were married he was allowed to take her right away into his tent and "uncover" her.

I am new to headcovering and am just curious why you are not covering as much of your head as you can in most of these you are leaving your long hair out and thus uncovered?
@eyes2jesus

Because it's a headcovering, not a hair covering. :-)

I always have trouble tying in the back, and getting it tied with my hair and it pulls and hurts. Then I yank my hair out from within the knot. Only thing I dont like about that part. Ive been wearing a head covering 4 years now, but in the winter at work, i keep my toques on indoors instead. So I dont have to change when I get to work. Now its' summer, I sometimes wear a straw hat when It's hot out. Ive tried some with slippery material and very difficult to work with, just slide right off my head.
@learningaswegocitygonecoun6805
I tie the bandanas with a loose knot. Then slip it over my head to my neck and then pull my hair through. Once my hair is through I pull the point over the top of my head until it is the right spot. Tighten the knot as needed.

They have pretty tied ones that you slip on so you don't have to mess with tying. I also put my ponytail higher of my neck even in a bun so its not in the way.

Hair pins. Also look at wrapunzel.com for underscarf headband. And you can use pins instead of tying.

Also you can put the left end on the right and the right to the left then tie over the ponytail or pin it or over the head and pin it

+Deb C you need to make sure that you are not putting the scarf up too high on your forehead. i have to watch that too, or it will slip off my head. i also put another smaller scarf underneath, AND it depends on the type of fabric you use. if you use slippery fabric, like silk, you could have problems. but if you use something more along the lines of cotton- something that catches a bit more- you should have less or no problems. if you also wanted to use silk, the best thing to do is use a catching scarf underneath, and then pin the silk scarf to it. as for tightness- if you cut the circulation off, or see a prominent mark, it is too tight. but there is supposed to be some pressure. for me, my pressure relaxes me. oh and if you have longer hair, you could use that to your advantage when trying to make sure that the scarf stays put. for instance, you could make it stay better by wrapping the fabric around your pony tail or bun or whatever, or you could tie the scarf up under your low ponytail, like this lady did.

A friend of mine had to rake the lead at church because strangley no men showed up at all. Everyone was confused and she was the only one to step up. No one knew of headcoverings in the bible and she started off by saying i have no headcovering. Does some one have any scarf or bandana. No one did and she of course had to explain it. Everyone fell right into understanding and agreement and she asked for forgivness and used the bible as a headcovering. From then on i never saw her without a scarf :)

I seen many women just use a hat. They have these tube ones at walmart. Just slip over your head, pull your hair over it. Grab the front part of the tube thats around your neck and pull over head to where it covers hair and dont fall off. I keep mine over most my ears and on the top part of my forehead. It keeps it in place and is not as tight.
